Great place to learn about Chinese and Shenzhen culture and history. There are many very informative exhibits. There is information on most of the 55 official non-Han ethnic minority groups within China. The museum is named in honour of He Xiangning (1878-1972); she was a Chinese feminist, revolutionary member of Sun Yat Sen’s revolutionary movement, politician, renowned painter, and held many high ranking positions in the Chinese government. I also learned that during the 17th century, Chinese slaves were used as forced labourers on plantations in Cuba.…

I went with a friend to this museum.Only 1 artist on display when I went. I was disappointed because the work seemed unfinished but displayed proudly. For a free museum it is worth checking out.

Shenzhen may never be called a city of art, like Shanghai, Guangzhou and many other cities. But there are some hidden gems you should never miss here. Yesterday, I went to Hexiangning Art Museum for a videos collection exhibition by Han Nefkens. It was a very modernistic and provocative show conected with some social issues like immigration, politics conflicts etc. Many people may think the works are bizzard and obscure, but I am sure it’s another picture for the creators. There is a cafe bar inside which sell fruit tea, and coffee, but you can not bring them into the exhibition rooms.…
