    Pleasant place to shopping
I traveled to China and have visited this commercial city many times. I found that Calvin's custom shop is completely different from other custom clothing stores. Every time the custom clothes fit perfectly, I can't see my belly at all. I was very amazed by their measuring technique. At other tailors, I usually have to do multiple fittings to get the right fit, but at Calvin's Tailor, they only take one measurement and are able to create the perfect fit. Simply incredible! Every time I wear their custom clothes, I feel renewed and confident. In addition, their delivery speed is also very fast, and it usually only takes a few days to complete a custom garment. Overall, I am very satisfied with the experience of Calvin Custom Shop, I will continue to patronize and recommend them to my friends.

    Not bad here
Some time ago, my husband and I stumbled upon this shopping mall again. We had previously custom-made clothes at other suit stores in this mall, but they didn't fit as well as we had expected. Upon seeing positive reviews online, we discovered this store called Calvin's Bespoke and decided to have a few outfits made there. We found the store on the 5th floor of the Luohu Commercial City. Once inside the store, the tailor took our measurements, and true to the online reviews, the service was excellent. My husband had a suit tailored, while I had two coats and two skirts customized. Since we were planning to visit friends in Hong Kong, Calvin's even shipped the clothes to our hotel there. When we received the garments, they truly exceeded our expectations. The delivery was fast, and the quality was excellent. The fit was even better than what we had purchased elsewhere. It was definitely worth the price! We are delighted to have discovered this store and will definitely recommend it to our friends who are planning to visit China!

    It's comfortable
I only found out about this bespoke suit shop in Shenzhen through a mate's recommendation. Since I needed a suit for work, I checked out Calvin Bespoke. The suits they tailor here are absolutely top-notch! Compared to other places, the quality of their bespoke suits is off the charts, and it's a downright comfortable experience! 😌 First off, the staff were real pros, patiently listened to my requests, and offered some great advice that put me completely at ease. The attention to fabric selection is top-notch quality! Plus, the fit of the suit is spot on, feels like it's been tailored just for me—couldn't be more comfortable! And the prices are really reasonable, exceptional bang for your buck! All in all, I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to get a custom suit! Great service, top-notch quality, and fair prices, there's absolutely nothing to nitpick about! I'll definitely be back next time I need something! 👍👍👍

Right next to the border crossing, Luohu Commercial City was the most popular attraction for tourists from Hong Kong. It is now a filthy and chaotic place full of touts. While a bunch of boutiques and massage parlors offers a variety of goods and services at very modest price, it is definitely not an appealing place for first-time visitors.

I am blessed with being able to speak all the Chinese languages and dialets (Mandarin, Cantonese, Teochew, Hokkien, Hakka). Perks of growing up in Singapore.

Now back to Lo Wu. As other reviewer have mentioned..... this is a place where even Hong Kongers get eaten alive if you are unaware or unexperience in buying knock off / imitation / replica items. Hopefully this guide will save everyone $$$.

1. Branded Polo T Shirt (eg Ralph Lauren with large club badges and embroider) : RMB45. Those non fancy polo t shirts are RMB30. The asking price will be RMB200 to RMB 300.

2. WALLETS: Those on display are typically very cheap RMB30 -RMB40. The super high end ones that come in Authentic Box, warranty card and a pouch to protect the leather wallet goes for RMB130 to RMB140 maximum *eg Ferragamo, Gucci, Bally). These high end stuff, you have to view from magazines and they will bring it you.

3. Spectacle frames (Tag Heuer, Dunhill, Sillouette, Oakleys, you name it, etc) RMB30 to RMB80. Asking price can be anywhere from RMB290 to RMB1,000

4. Spectacles lenses: Index 1.6, (I made up to 800 degree correction)........ This goes for RMB100 or less. Transition lenses (those that darkens in the sun) goes for RMB130 or less with index of 1.6..

5. High end luggages (those that are only availble from the magazine): Eg Samsonite: 22' cabin bag= RMB180, 25' Samsonite Bag = RMB200

6. Oakley Sunglasses with 5 interchangeable lenses and interchangeable arm RMB100, with build in prescription lense (add RMB70), total price RMB170.

7. Watches (Rolex, Hublot, etc): The top quality ones AAA (waterproof, Saphire Crystal, Chronograph, automatic.... best of the best with Swiss movements (very few shops carry these) goes for RMB350. This will usually be hidden somewhere in the shop and sold to fussy buyers only. In other words, available on request only. When the shopkeeper tries to push you these super highend watches, they will have special equipment, meter that measures the hardness of the glass to prove to you its quality (Sapphire Crystal). The asking price for these will be RMB10,000. These will only be sold to very experience buyers who know how to identify quality. I got this for RMB350.

Those that are on display and push to tourists (especially white man) sells for RMB 150 to RMB 250 (for the very complex watch, automatic with chronograph, stop watch, day, date and month). The asking price for these are typically RMB1,500 to RMB3,500.

8. Jeans (Levis, G Star, Gucci, Zegna, Hugo Boss, etc): This will go for RMB 75 to RMB 80. Trust me, there are no higher quality than RMB 80 jeans. The asking price is RMB300 to RMB500.

9. DVDs selling price is RMB3 to RMB5. Asking price for Chinese speaking Hong Konger RMB5 to RMB10. Foreigners RMB20

10. HangBags: The maximum for super high-end leather handbags are RMB200 to RMB300 (big), never displayed, choose from magazine. However, the majority that are sold in the shop goes for RMB100 to RMB150.

Firstly it costs money to get there... 2 adults and 1 child and it was $200 + AUD for train tickets and visas.
I mainly wanted to go for the ladies bags as I had been told to expect to pay AUD $50 for a good copy bag. I was touted into a shop after making our way to the top floor. After 1.5 hours I had picked out 5 ladies handbags after going through countless magazines and waiting for bags to arrive! They were all excellent copies and really really nice bags. So I said how much... I was disgruntled when the asking price of the 5 bags was 5050CNY... $1100 Australian dollars... So much for the $50AUD a bag hey...
I tried to get the price down and visited numerous shops after that picking the same bags out of their multiple magazines. The lowest I could get them down to for a bag was $550CNY which is still $120 AUD for a fake bag?????
Can people let me know if they were confronted with this same issue or am I just being a cheap skate and is that the going price for a knock off bag these days???
Either way I walked away VERY disappointed by the days experience.

We've been travelling to Shenzhen for about 10 years now and have spent hours (and lots of wasted money) buying stuff in the Luohu Centre.
We always stay at the Shangrila-La across the road as it's a quick walk back and forth to dump your shopping and regroup. It's also a fantastic hotel with staff that truly care about their guests.
Anyway .. back to shopping. You will have hawkers coming at you from all directions pushing cards in your face and telling you they have the best shoes, bags, watches in their shops. Well ... these guys don't actually have shops .. they work on commission from the shops they steer you toward. Where the shop owner pays commission, their final price is always higher ... if you've driven too hard a bargain, you may find the item/s you've purchased have been replaced with a lesser quality item.
To lessen your pain, I am listing a few shops where we get consistent quality at excellent prices. This is not to say you shouldn't bargain ... bargaining is a must .. but I can absolutely vouch for quality at best price. We've shopped at each of these stores for 3yrs+++

For the absolute best bags at best prices text Ivy on wechat +86 13418622431. Her English is excellent and she will tell you how to find her shop.

Glasses .. prescription or otherwise. I can't tell you how many pairs of glasses we've bought in this place that fall apart within days of getting home. Save yourself $$ and go straight to Joe at Sunshine Optical. We found him 3 years ago and are VERY happy to buy there.
Joe is on the 2nd floor in shop 2152. He's quite easy to find, but if you have difficulty, look for the locator map. You can get him on whatsapp or wechat for directions on +86 13510115953.

Socks, underwear, hats and caps are best bought from Lisa on 3rd Floor shop 3186. She is a gorgeous woman who works incredibly hard. Stock up on everything ... her quality is good and she will sell at reasonable prices. Whatsapp & Wechat +8613510949836

Paintings are abundant here and we've found the best range and prices with Steven and Mei Located on the 4th Floor, shop 4297. They pack everything really well, and if you are shipping back home, you can trust them to send your exact purchase. Mei Mei is on wechat +86 13715339366.

Fabric ... on the 5th Floor. Sucy is fabulous and has a great range of fabric. Her English is excellent and she has a good knowledge of fabrics. Her shop is 61B in the fabric market. Wechat is +86 13631581646

Gadgets and electronics are a minefield here! Most stuff you buy stops working as soon as you get home. We're lucky to have found Jackie and he is opposite Sunshine Optical on 2nd Floor, shop 2155. I can't find his card to list his number .. sorry!

Hope these few shop hints help you find your ideal purchases. Happy to answer questions anytime

Having lived in Hong Kong and still travelling regularly to HK and mainland China I have visited the "Lo Wu Commercial Centre" (Shopping Mall) on numerous occasions as has my wife and it's a great experience if you go into it with EYES WIDE OPEN so here are some tips for the novice:
If you're visiting from Hong Kong then it's easy to get to and well worth it as you can get far better bargains here than you can in the markets of Hong Kong and if you've plenty to buy (or specifics brands in mind) you will be sure to get them here and so a trip to Shenzhen is worth the money and it can be a great experience at the same time. From HK take the East Rail MTR line to Lo Wu Station. Once here you can purchase a 5 day Shenzhen Entry Visa, you do this after you go through the HK immigration channel and before you go through the Chinese Immigration channel. Cost of the Visa varies depending on Nationality but for a UK Passport it's RMB304.00 (which is about GB£35.00 at April 2015 exchange rates). You can pay on a Visa card and you don't need photos. It can take anything from 5 minutes to an hour to get the Visa depending on the time of day. Note that even though the Visa allows you to stay for 5 days in Shenzhen you can only enter once, so you can't go back to HK and then back into Shenzhen the next day on the same Visa, so if you want more than a day in Shenzhen book into a hotel (like the Shangri-La which is right by the Lo Wu Shopping Centre).
Once through Shenzhen immigration the Lo Wu Shopping Centre is a 2 minute walk - Straight ahead more or less, you can't miss it.

The shopping centre is on multiple levels accessed via lifts, escalators or stairs so fine for people with mobility issues. There are plenty of places to get food and drinks and there are toilets about (although they may not be the freshest!). There are 100's of shops/stores in the Centre selling everything from toys and consumer electronics to designer branded clothes, sunglasses, bags, luggage, shoes, watches, jewellery and Chinese gifts/fake artefacts. There are also tailors shops, (the best ones are mainly on the top floor), that will make any clothes you want either from a pattern or you can take an item in and they will copy it... This may take a few days though! (My wife used to do this all the time and she loved it).
Now you have to be aware of the fact that quality can vary massively, so you get good quality copies and you get very poor ones, so shop around and don't always buy the first things you see as 9 times out of 10 you'll see a better one a few stores down and wish you'd waited (you can always go back). Also you MUST bargain hard, they expect it and mark their prices up to allow for this. As an example I just bought some Paul Smith replica cuff-links and they wanted RMB80 a pair, I got them for RMB20, I also bough a Cath Kidston purse for my wife and they wanted RMB250 and I got it for RMB40!! And even then I think I could've gone down to RMB25. If in doubt go to walk away and invariably they will call you back and go "Okay Okay". If they let you walk away you know you had hit a price where they would've made no profit. Be aware of the 'shopping assistants' who will latch onto you and escort you around the shopping centre taking you to various shops, these guys just then make a cut from what you buy and they're a pain in the rear so best to politely say "I'm okay on my own thank you" and they will leave you alone, but you will probably be saying that all day so go expecting it and be calm and be patient. If you're the nervous/easy agitated type probably best to avoid the place as you'll just get stressed in 10 minutes. Note that most of the shops don't open until about 11am so no point in getting there at 9am best to arrive at Lo Wu about 10:30am and go from there. If you want a civilised lunch/coffee break in a clean, safe and cool environment and don't mind paying a bit extra I suggest walking over to the Shangri-La Hotel and taking a drink / snack in their 'Lobby Lounge', very civilised and super clean... Especially if you need the toilets. Hope this all helps, enjoy your shopping!

I wrote a review of Lo Wu soon after visiting in May this year. At that point I said that time would tell if the handbags were of decent quality or not. Well I'm pleased to say that my two daughters and I have been using our Jimmy Choo and Prada handbags since then and they are still like new. My daughters work in the city and use public transport everyday and the bags have been able to take the rigours of everyday use. Just thought I would add this review in case anyone is a bit hesitant (as I was to spend $50 on fake Prada) - they wont fall apart the first time you use them (as the ones from the Ladies market in HK do)

We have used Nancy and Cindy, (5th floor, shop 46, within the fabric market) for more than 200 items in the past 12 months and they are GREAT!!!

I think only 3 or 4 have not been 100% perfect - mostly because we didn't give accurate instructions or chose poor fabrics - not the tailor's fault.

We have been able to post clothes to copy and a few weeks later, they were at the front door in Australia.

Some of our clothes we have brought to be copied, but want them a bit bigger/shorter/with sleeves or slightly different and they are perfect every time.
We have also had many items made from pictures - be well prepared and specific.

When you get to Luohu, head up to the 5th floor and to the far right corner of the fabric market, near Laurel Restaurant. (Hint: walk in the entrance of Laurel and down the hallway, on the left is a door into the fabric market and you will find them one shop down on the right - you avoid about 30 "Missy, Missy's")

Sit down for a rest and get them to tell you how much you need for each garment, how much you should pay and even which shop you should look for it in. Nancy has fantastic knowledge about which shops have the specific fabric you want and will happily go and get a sample for you. Absolutely invaluable if you are short on time.

Nancy and Cindy have many Aussie/American and HK expat customers and so they are very experienced in fitting western shapes/bodies. They have their own factory nearby - a big plus as they can offer shorter turnarounds than many other tailors. Their English is fantastic - not just for the tailoring and fabric language, but also to have a chat about Chinese lifestyles and other things in the market.

We highly recommend these two wonderful sisters!!

General advice for all tailors: be specific. Know exactly the lengths, the number of buttons and their placement, hem widths and styles and the depths of necklines. If you haven't done much tailoring before, start by copying your own clothes, rather than sketching ideas so you aren't disappointed.

Have fun and if you find more fabric than your wallet allows, take fabric samples home so you can post them back to your tailor when your bank balance allows - don't wait too long as many fabrics are the leftovers from factories and once they go, they go.
