This is the northern gate of ancient Huizhou. Chaojing Gate is an impressive structure of typical Chinese architectural style. Restored to its past grandeur, it has a small museum illustrating the history of the Guangdong city. The view of city center and East River is remarkable. Do take a look when around the area.

Walk past the Chaojing Gate along Binjiang W. Road past the old Village to the small bridge across Shuidong W Road to the temple. Stop to take fabulous photos before you get to Shuidong W Road.

The Gate itself is amazingly well maintained, and kept clean. However, I could not understand the purpose of this gate, as the river is immediately in front of it, so I assume, it was placed strategically not to allow continuous hordes to form a frontal attack. I would, certainly, send my compliments to the authorities for having kept it so meticulously. The gate itself is just a piece of history, which we can finish in about half an hour. I noticed extremely well laid out landscape lighting, so I assume it would be a sight to behold in the night.

It may be nothing special but I appreciate the fact that the gate has been maintained, so has the city wall, you can walk up the stairs and enjoy a view of the West Lake. It's not big and one cannot enter the actual gate but I really enjoyed walking around it and along the walls. Not what you expect to see in a smaller-size city.

The building is historic. It is good for taking photos. It is even better at night. However, nothing else. Do not expect too much.

If you walk around West Lake, you can take a few minutes side walk over there or even use a zoom lens to take photos.
