Did a bunch of research before coming and didn't read anything about this. When we got here June 2019, there were security guards outside checking for student IDs. If you're not a student here you cannot get in. Don't waste your time coming.

great place for art!!

The tunnel has spontaneous artwork from Xiamen U students. It was done by many students from many places in China in addition to more than a few foreign countries. Some are really well done, all are done very thoughtfully. The tunnel is long and chock full of interesting images and thoughts. Go see them.

Once you have passed the security check points at the main gates of the university there isn’t any waiting just a 1000m walk to the tunnel. Worth a look then head to the Fat Fat Horse for some craft beer.

Learn about the history of Xiamen

This old railway tunnel is full with pictures of the Xiamen history. There is a pedestrian street on top of the old railway tracks. You just need to follow them to reach the tunnel. On the other side of the tunnel, you can walk up to the temple.

Can't believe this is on here

This is a stinky, crowded tunnel. I was sort of curious, but others in the party dissuaded from going down it. Not recommended.

Fantastic

A picturesque place. Come here and spend 15-20 minutes for photo sake, not necessary to walk the whole way as it will takes a lot of time.

A different sort of attraction

One has to enter from the Xiamen University grounds to see it. Once in, it's basically a tunnel full of nice graffiti-type art. It was interesting and mostly a cheerful theme. A place or two to sit and have tea.
It makes for some interesting photos. I'm not sure what's on the other side of the tunnel as I didn't walk the whole way through.
So, I give it 3 stars for its uniqueness.

Not for street art lovers
Jan 2016 • Couples
If you like street art do not come here. The tunnel is manly filled with tags. I don't recall seeing a piece produced from an aerosol can. I instead mainly saw a lot of unfinished pieces in acrylic paint.
