Went here as part of a tour group from Xiamen. By bus it took roughly an hour from Jimei to the main village. There was no entrance fee. Though there were a couple food hawkers selling pineapple chunks and barbecue chicken, there aren't many other restaurants, so it's highly recommended to bring some food and especially water.

The area is huge and we only hiked around a small area, but it still took five hours total. Much of the area consists of shrubs and bushes, so there's more exposure to the sun. Definitely wear a hat and put on plenty of sunblock! Depending on when you come, you may see a lot of pretty flowers in bloom. Another feature of the area is the towering wind turbines that dot the landscape. It wasn't particularly crowded when we went, adding to the serenity of the mountains. It terms of difficulty, we chose to walk up the short, rough trails instead of the winding road, and it was quite manageable for all fitness levels, though there were a few slippery parts. There were no stone steps on any of the trails. The rest of the mountain trails were also not difficult, though were some slippery parts.

Despite our day trip, I've heard of groups coming up here for camping and seeing beautiful sunsets/rises.

There are two parts to Yunding Mountain as far as I am concerned and I will review them both separately. This review will deal with the areas adjacent the trans-mountain road.
The road crosses the mountain, one end rising from Huangdao Lu on the sea-side, the other end being close to the centre of the town. As you might imagine this can be quite busy but never mind, it does not matter. Where the road crests the mountain it is split into two halves by a ravine which has a stream running through it. This is not deep or particularly large but is pretty enough, especially in spring and autumn, to be used as a backdrop for many Xiamen wedding photographs. It makes for pleasant, if short, strolls. On one side of the road there is a local restaurant and a tea- house. On the other is a road leading to a gem of a park which I will review elsewhere. Don't be put off by the thought that this ravine is slap-bang in the middle of a highway, this makes access easy and once walking alongside the stream I never even notice the road or the traffic on it.

It is a really beautiful place, perfect to breath fresh air and aoend the time with your dears. I went up the mountain with a bus and then down walkin, it took 4 hours more or less..the view is breathtaking, along the path there were bars to take some food and water.
