Xiamen University is one of the best universities in China, and its campus is known as the most beautiful in China. The ancient and aesthetic Jiageng architecture, the majestic Jiannan Auditorium, the beautiful Furong Lake, you can often see black swans. All the plants, trees and architecture are very nice and you can enjoy sitting by the lake. You can also see many kinds of wonderful student graffiti in the Furong Tunnel. However, the most important thing is that you have to make a reservation on your phone a few days in advance, otherwise you won't get in.

I have never been in China before nor in the Xiamen, I would be very thankful if somebody of you can give me some information what is the best mean of transportation from Xiamen International Airport to Xiamen University? Is that taxi or bus or something else? What mean do you suggest me?
Can you give me some advices in order to avoid some risky situtations when I arrive in Xiamen.

Thank you in advance!

The university is in the center. You can enter only by permission so not everyone can see it. Inside are old and new buildings of the faculties from ancient and modern times. The structure of this university is really great. By the main entrance you can find some other attractions to see so dont miss them.

If you are close to the university, just go and have a walk inside to see how a Chinese university campus looks like. It's a nice place overall but nothing special. I don't recommend going if there are long queues to get inside. If you are not a student you must register using your passport and sometimes during the weekend it can be overcrowded

Don't go without an escort or someone to call security for you. Outstanding university, beautiful campus, but access is strictly enforced.

Snuggled between the Five Old Man Mountains and the sea, XMU is widely regarded as China's most beautiful campus (Wuhan University perhaps being the only serious contender). Enjoy the Chinese/Western architecture dating from 1921, as well as the beautiful lotus lake and more modern architecture, and have a meal at Yifu Lou restaurant (beside Lotus Lake).

This sprawling university is nice to stroll around and admire the beautiful campus. Be informed that they don't allow visitors to enter the campus between 1 to 5 pm. There is also a queue and can be very long. So try to avoid falling in line 30 minutes before closing time and get disappointed. The gate opposite Nanputuo temple seems less crowded than the main gate.

Okay ... to be fair, the grounds are well maintained and looks okay ... but it's just a university, and for practical purposes, there's nothing to do except walking around ...

Why such a high ranking on TA?

Xiamen University is a must-see if you find yourself in this lovely city. It has a great reputation as a place for locals to gain higher education and a great place for foreigners to study Chinese language. But, even if you're not a student, I think it is a beautiful place to walk around and meet people. The cool thing about being on a college campus is that there are always plenty of young locals that are anxious to speak english with you. You might even find yourself a great local tour guide and new Chinese friends. It is a beautiful campus!!

Unfortunately we did not make prior arrangement to visit the university thus unable to go into the university grounds.

Those who wish to visit the university must make prior arrangement otherwise you will be denied entry. This university is located next to nanputor temple. Worthy to spend some time there.

From the gate can see the great architecture buildings and this is also well-known as romantic university
