It's located on the coast of ocean. The university construction is the tipical south-east asia style with hill, villages and lakes. The landscape will be colorful in all season as the weather is so comfortable in Xiamen. It seems like there are only spring and summer but no autumn and winter therefore you can enjoy all the time stay in... More

Not worth a visit. Rude police guide that shout at you demanding identity pass! The university is quite dirty indeed.

Beautiful university, with a large area. They have tunnels filled with the drawings from the students of the university. It's easy to get souvenirs as they have many shops and a lot of choices too

Lots of people, with eateries but since it is a university you have to eat before 2pm because the fastfood that we wanted to try closed at 2pm so we have to walk and look for another place to eat.

There's a visitor limit and you're not allowed to go in between morning and afternoon before 5pm, however, signage is only in Chinese and guards won't answer questions, not very friendly.

Worth a stroll around - own lane, green, historical buildings....40.000 students picked this place to study...it does not take long to see why!

Xiamen university is known for its park with lake with black swans. It's worth perhaps a quick visit, as it's interesting to see the like and perhaps the small university museum, but I wouldn't go out of your way or spend more than 30 minutes.

Passed by and stopped for a look. There have strict hours for entry and since we did not want to hang around, we just took a look from the outside. This was the first university in China established by an Overseas Chinese, Tan Kah Kee and was originally known as Amoy University. A huge campus, it sits overlooking the bay.

I went late in the morning on a Sunday and waited in line for about 5 minutes. Needed to show my passport but otherwise getting in was very straightforward. Didn't have a map but aimlessly mooched around in a pleasantly haphazard way following the crowds. Liked the area around the Lotus lake - lots of exited families taking pictures of... More
