This is a holy place and is a place you can speed the day to enjoy the sites and the many places to just sit and relax while observing everything around you. Get away from the busy city life and enjoy nature. Lots of steps but worth the effort to try and see as much as you can. Would have been better to be here in the warming part of the year.

Fuzhou Wushan Park is a holy place of Taoism and there is a place for performance of Taoist rites by Lv Dongbin, a famous legendary Taoist immortal, on top of the mountain. It is located beside the municipal government to the west of the southern gate and is also named Taoist Mountain. It is right opposite to Yu Mountain and has an altitude of 84m. It has towering trees and tranquil sceneries and is said to be the place where He Xiangu used to shoot crows in the Han Dynasty. This is how its name Wu Mountain was created.

I usually go climbing with my parents in holidays and therefore have a deep understanding of the history and scenes of Wushan Mountain. Wushan Mountain is located in downtown Fuzhou and right opposite to Yushan Mountain and Pingshan Mountain in a triangular layout. As the legend goes, an immortal visited Wushan Mountain and shot birds with bow and arrow here in the Han Dynasty and therefore this place is also called "Shewu (bird shooting) Mountain". Start climbing along a path at the southeastern foot and reach Tianxiang Platform only several tens of steps ahead; then turn westward and reach the Chongtian Platform, one of the 36 spectacular scenes. One natural slab rests on top and it is called the "Tiantai Bridge". It is a highly perilous bridge and only those who "wish to sacrifice their life" can climb onto it. Further up the path by some tens of steps, one will reach Daoshan Pavilion which was constructed by Cheng Shimeng. Chen also left inscriptions for Daoshan Pavilion here. Go down westward from Daoshan Pavilion and one will reach Tianzhang Platform where Sa Dula used to chant "Went climbing Wushan Mountain in a cool evening and drank on Tianzhang Platform".

Smack in the center of the city, I envy the people of Fuzhou for having this park to walk around in. It's very pretty, very relaxing. It's good for a slow, relaxed stroll. Not much of a travel destination if you are on a tight schedule to hit the greatest hits and run.

This park has quite a few wonders in it. The walking trails can take you in many different directions, so every visit can be different. There are some stunning views of the White Pagoda in the distance. And the landscaping is quite beautiful.
