Fuzhou Majianghaizhan Memorial Hall

Location: Eastern foot of Maxian Mountain, Mawei, Fuzhou

Historic background: Majianghaizhan Memorial Hall is also called Zhaozhong Memorial Hall. As a temple of an architectural style of the Qing Dynasty, it was constructed in memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their life during a sea war between China and France and completed in December 1886.

Descriptions: As a key protected entity of cultural relics, the Hall displays cultural relics, photos, models and various other stuffs that depict the rise and fall of shipbuilding industry in Fujian. The Cemetery of martyrs in the west of the Hall accommodates 796 heroic martyrs who sacrificed their life for the country. The ancient battery on top of Maxian Mountain is a historic relic of the Majiang Sea War between China and France.
