The service, support and planning of Lead to China was truly EXCEPTIONAL!!
We traveled as a family of 4 for a heritage trip with our adopted daughter for 12 nights starting in Beijing and ending in Shanghai. James was amazing with how he helped us plan this private trip that included hikes in terraced rice paddies in Guilin to a lantern lit Sculling Boat tour of the watertown of Zhouzhuang - it all was AMAZING and James was so helpful and patient with the planning.
Their support and service during the trip was also outstanding as there was torrential flooding in Guilin that cut off the electricity to the hotel we had reserved but James and Emily of Lead to China quickly rebooked us at another hotel and rerouted our itinerary without any issues. Emily gets our 5 star travel guide rating😀.
We also appreciated all their efforts to coordinate our visit with the Chibi orphanage staff and especially that our daughter was able to have lunch with her foster mom!!❤️
We are recommending Lead to China and its tour guides to our friends because their English proficiency and local knowledge and personal connection all were exceptional.

Lead to China organized our nearly two-week private tour in China with stops in Beijing, Xian, Chengdu, Wuhan and Shanghai. It arranged a visit to our daughter's hometown and orphanage, which was the highlight of the trip. Our English-speaking guides in each city were excellent. They were flexible when we asked to drop or add activities on our itinerary and were very knowledgeable about their cities and sites we visited. The hotels were also very good, centrally located with shops and restaurants nearby to explore on our own. Communication with the travel agency as we planned the trip was over email and James, our contact, was responsive and professional. If there's something specific you want to do - make dumplings, see an acrobat show, visit a particular museum, etc - and it's not on the proposed itinerary, ask. My experience is that they may not propose particular activities, but are very willing to adjust based on your requests. I received price quotes from 3 travel agencies that cater to families with adopted children and Lead to China was by far the most competitive. I highly recommend their services to adoptive families as well as others.

This is our 2nd trip to China that we had under LeadtoChina agency.
James has been very professional in organizing our trips to China. The first was the China Silk Route in Oct 2019 and he ensured all our requirements/requests were met. The English speaking guides were good. Any issues that we had were handled promptly.
Our recent trip was back to my husband's ancestral town. We included a tour of Quanzhou, Xiamen, Wuyishan, Yongding and Dabu. We left all the train bookings to him. The guides selected were good especially Adam (Quanzhou, Xiamen, Yongding and Dabu). All arrangements were smooth including the greetings and bus services.
James has been very patient as we made quite a number of changes close to the start of our trip. All the changes were handled very well.
We are looking forward to our next China trip in March 2024.

Great trip organized with Lead to China. From the beginning James captured our intention and planned a tailor-made trip. Our goal was to visit the Kunming orphanage where we adopted our son 14 years ago accompanied by grandparents and visit the most important cities. The experience could not be better. Great organization, accompanied by great guides in each city visited, with great professionalism. Drivers have also made it much easier to travel between different points to visit. All guides (Iris, Lulu, Susan, Yuli i Lin Lei) have complemented the visits by providing much information and recommendations of typical foods and traditions. The cities visited were: Beijing, Kunming, Guangzhou y Shanghai. Trips between different cities were by plane. The guides accompanied us throughout the invoicing process, which is appreciated in a country with such a different language.
The visit to the orphanage was emotional and very special. An experience we will remember a lifetime, with our Guide Susan who helped us decipher and interpret all the information.
Fully recommended to visit any corner of China, whether alone, with family, for work... we will repeat!

This was literally the trip of a lifetime! Lead to China arranged for a visit to the orphanage from which we adopted our daughter 20 years ago. We even got to meet her foster parents, who still work there! The Lead to China translators/interpreters were excellent, as was the itinerary planned for us. I honestly can't think of anything I would have done differently. I wholeheartedly recommend this agency for anyone wanting to do a Heritage Tour or, in fact, any sort of trip to China.

We used Lead to China for a visit to our children's orphanage. We chose them because they were able to accommodate our request for a simple orphanage visit - morning only, at a reasonable price. No one else was able to even come close to accommodating this request or matching/beating their price. The paperwork we had to do ahead of time was reasonable and well explained, the communication was fantastic, and everything went absolutely seamless for our orphanage visit. Our guide, Shirley, was wonderful. She went above and beyond to make sure our kids got to see/learn what they wanted to learn about their finding places and the orphanage, and even inquired further than we had thought to and was able to connect us with more information about one of our kids than we thought existed! I highly recommend Lead to China, and especially Shirley, to anyone looking to visit their child's orphanage while in China.

Me, my mother and my adopted sister were able to visit the wonders of China and experience were my sister grew up. An rather unforgettable journey.
We could not have done this without the help of Lead to China. Especially our guide Lucio and Driver Zhang. We got not have asked for a more friendly, thoughtful and professional guide as Lucio was. He made us feel comfortable throughout the whole heritage tour. Furthermore, he was willing and able to hold and, if needed, alter the schedule of the tour.
It is hardly possible how thankful we are to Lead to China and all people who allowed us to have this breathtaking experience.
If you are looking for a professional and personal heritage tour, we would highly recommend Lead to China as your guide.

Thanks to the hard work of the agency and James in particular, we had an amazing experience in the province where our son was born. We managed to visit the orphanage and we had a wonderful guide along our local trip. Everything was organized scrupulously - plane tickets, meals, visit, hotel-, they were also able to book for us any adds on for the rest of our trip in China. Val and family

Can you pay by credit card? Or do they only accept bank transfers?

I only have 3 days - would l be able to see the Great Wall as well as seeing the terracotta army? did you go on the speed train between Bejing and Xian - I just wondered if that is a good way to travel rather than flying.
It will be only 2 of us and I just wondered if the tour will be very expensive.
I also try to contact the tour by filling in their form and email it but the email got bounced back. How do you contact them?
many thanks

Yes, you can see the Great Wall and the Terracotta Army in 3 days. The trip from Beijing to Xian only takes a few hours via high speed train. The train is definitely the way to go. Be warned that you probably won't find any English speakers there, but we took several trains and the experience was painless and fun. I don't know about the prices for this particular tour, but I can tell you the costs at Lead to China were far better than the alternative we looked at.

Who sells this tour and how much was it
Written July 24, 2016
Lead to China themselves sell directly.
They personalize your private tour so depending on what you want to do, the price may differ. I don't remember the exact prices but I will tell you, that after doing extensive research, they were very reasonable in comparison to other operators. They were half as much, for example, as Abercrombie and Fitch, a very high end , luxury operator, for our trip to Terra Cotta Warriors in Xian fr Beijing.

Did Lead to China Tours require a copy of your passport via email prior to the trip?
Written April 15, 2016
Hi, thank you for your question. Normally, we need your passports information to book flights/trains/hotels, etc. Although Lead to China tours ensure that the purpose of passport copies is just to book transportation/hotel, never use them in other ways, if you think it still not very safe, you can also just provide the information (Full name, passport number, birth date, sex, Nationality, Date of expiration), and make sure they are exactly as that in the passports. This also works.
However, as for the adoption homeland tours or tours to Tibet, passports copies are must, as we need them to apply for orphanage visiting and Tibet Permit.
