First things first, there is nothing at the end of the walk: The lighthouse itself is rather nice, but you won't find water, bathrooms, people or even the opportunity to go inside the building, so you must plan accordingly.
Having said that, what you do get is a 10 km walk through one impossibly beautiful and lonely beach. The seabirds are the only constant company, as are hummingbirds and woodpeckers in the lenga forest that runs almost to the water. Several streams run from mount Tarn and look like the places where sprites may live.
The views of mount Tarn right above you and the snow capped peaks of Clarence and Dawson islands are more than enough reward for your efforts.

Good place. Beautiful trek... Be careful in winter because in the morning there is high tide and you have to pass medium complexity areas through the forest... Beautiful rest, with beautiful landscapes along the beach shore and birds. Treking approximately 2 hours to reach the lighthouse. I wish they would encourage more tourism in the area

Lighthouse closed. It really needs some TLC. There is a lot of trash around which is a shame. However, the views and knowing you are at the end of the world make it worth it.

If you are up for a long hike, you should consider this historic site. But beware of the following: three small streams to be crossed, one of which required dangerous and at times difficult maneuvers. The length of the hike varies, but round trip is a minimum of 4 hours. We took 5.5 because our pace was slow. The lighthouse is not open to the public. No bathrooms, no services and no amenities.
The sights were miles of lush vegetation, with no where to sit (except the occasional fallen log). Be ready for rain: we ended up totally soaked. And be sure to take food and water.
On a scale of 1-10, this hike is a 5. The lighthouse is not maintained and there is nothing to do upon arriving there.

Just the fact that you get to the southwest light house of the continent makes this an amazing and pleasant walk

It is actually 5km instead of 4 and took us 2hrs with pictures and all

Saw a couple of dolphins swimming near the beach

About half way there is a river that requires you to follow the path inland until you reach a fallen tree that is your bridge to the other side.

That’s a beautiful place and hiking. But you need a car to go near.
There are no amenities like bathroom or places to sale water or food. 5.5km in the sand and rocks.

This was by far my most memorable experience in Punta Arenas. Beautiful drive down to the place you park your car, with lots of interesting places to stop along the way, then a long (5 km each way) hike on the beach (no hills to speak of, except at the very end) to the lighthouse.

The walk is BEAUTIFUL. Views of the Strait of Magellan on one side, beautiful woods on the other, hills and mountains rising up everywhere you look, the beach with all it's amazing rocks and things to see.

The walk is difficult though. Walking 10 km on sandy beach is hard on the legs. But it's worth it.

The only thing I didn't like was that when we got to the lighthouse it was locked up. We could see through the windows that it was nicely decorated -- so no abandoned, but the padlocks on all the doors looked permanent. I don't know when it's open, if ever. It was nice just to see it though, and the scenery around was breathtaking.

The walk to the San Isidro lighthouse is a very beautiful walk on a rocky and stony beach, with beautiful views of the forest, the sea and the occasional sea bird.

we went to visit the lighthouse one morning on December 5th, when we arrived at the start of the path we were approached by a hungry and pretentious fox. at the beginning of the path the sign says 4 km, NOTHING MORE FALSE, the path foresees a good 5.5 km. it's not a walk but an "ankle-breaking" trek on the beach, during the journey we spotted a school of dolphins, INCREDIBLE!!! after which you have to jump over a high river, and among mussels and fossils you arrive near a strange house. from there a path begins with an adjoining climb to the lighthouse. excruciating gusts of wind accompany you to the lighthouse and once you arrive? surprise!!! the lighthouse is closed and not open until 8pm as reported on Google, but incredibly in front of the door is the enormous skeleton of a whale's head, from the windows of the lighthouse you can see the remains of the whale inside, fantastic!!! BUT IT'S CLOSED! and you go back for a total of 11.5 km of harrowing but amazing walking. is it worth going?

DEPENDS…

Beautiful landscape, a lot of forest and vegetation, plenty of bird watching opportunities, you can see the bays and also the mountain range in the background, many ships and boats pass by, the path is well signposted, the walk to the lighthouse takes approximately 1 hour and a half. It is 4km but it is quite slow and exhausting due to the constant path of stones and sand, it becomes a relief to step on firm ground.
