We took this full day boattrip organised by Turismo 21 de Mayo. They operate large vessels and very few tourists seem to be taking this trip (especially during weekends). The boats are quite crowded and once the people start moving around to look at the glaciers, it is difficult to find a decent place to sit. Lunch is served in... More

You have to wrap up warm as the wind on the upper deck is gusty and cold, hat and gloves are essential. The boats look like old tubs and the seating is such that it's quite difficult to move... More

Two glaciers (Balmaceda and Serrano) are hidden near Puerto Natales. It will take a full day trip by boat to reach these glaciers, including the wonderful view of the bay and the mountains.

About a 1-hour ride by boat from The Singular Hotel, passing by mountains, woods and fjords, we arrived to the immediacy of the two large glaciers: Serrano and Balmaceda. Our weather was clear, albeit chilly and breezy, so the ride was a bit choppy. Arriving the the dock at Parque Nacional "Bernardo O'Higgins" we started our hike, through a narrow... More

Nice to get out on the water, and the walk to the glacier is really stunning. In the afternoon the food at the estancia - lamb cooked on an open fire tasted amazing too. The downside though was the many hours in between sitting on a cold boat with some really bad promotional videos of patagonia playing on loop, and... More

Even with snowy conditions the boat trip was beautiful. The staff was friendly and the lunch was one of the best meals we've had in Chile. Dress in layers!

One would think that after seeing Perito Moreno and Grey glaciers out of El Calafate and Torres del Paine in Argentina and Chile respectively, that a couple more glaciers would be somewhat ho-hum. But first of all, a glacier is not necessarily a glacier - they're all a little different. Secondly, even if they did look similar, would you not... More

Glacier Serrano is amazing with icebergs floating on the water. Completely worth it. On a clear day, look out for the Torres del Paine Cuernos (horns) on the right. They look majestic!

The boat ride was amazing. The scenery, the glaciers were all spectacular. We went one way and transferred to zodiac up to the park. That ride was thrilling and exciting but windy. The staff was very professional and informative. However, if you have seasickness make sure you take some pills if it's a windy day. Or go to the back... More

The trip takes about 3 hours to get to the first glacier (and maybe another 30 min. to the second glacier), but it's worth it in my opinion. I have seen glaciers in Alaska, but the emerald waters in Patagonia really create a beautiful view. It's true that you can't walk all the way to the glacier. The Balmaceda glacier... More
