As part of Latin American Escapes, Inc. trekking itinerary, we hiked from the Paine Grande Refugio along the shores of Lake Pehoe to the Northern side of Lake Grey. There, we boarded a boat for an up-close look at the calving glacier. The hike was beautiful with great views of the area. The boat was awesome where we got close (not... More

It was very professionally organised, with compulsory lifejackets for the zodiac crossing to board the catamaran and whilst on deck once you were there. The ever changing views of the surrounding mountains and the small icebergs in the lake were the perfect appetiser for the main event, the close up of the snout of the glacier itself, split by small... Although the glacier is a wow view getting there on the boat from the Lago Grey Hotel is expensive for what is essentially a water taxi ride. The Hotel has amonopoly I think and can charge what they like $40,000+ for one way. They don't even take you to the glacier face for photos before dropping you off in the... More

It was a long slog to the boat, over rocky, mushy terrain.Well worth the walk. The boat trip was exciting as the deck was slippery. Take care.

We visited the glacier as part of a whole day tour in early summer, walking across the stone river bed in gale-force winds to glimpse the glacier across the water. I understand that tours at other times allow for walking along the edge of and on the glacier itself, but we were happy with our view.

We were amazing at the colors and how close we were! Stunning views of nature's beauty! We took the Tauck Tour to see this.

We were fortunate enough to have a beautiful sunny day, with clear blue skies for the trip across the lake, which made it very special. The sun was shining through the ice turning it dark blue and turquoise, and up close the colours and ice formations were stunning. Plus having a lump of ice pulled out of the lake and... More

If want to save legs and time on W hike could just go to first miradaor to see glacier or skip this side. Other parts of park are nicer imo.

Lovely lake but the glacier is quite a distance from the shore. There are small blue icebergs near the shore. The morning of our visit was very windy and had difficulty in standing at times. We had a better view of the glacier a few days later when we flew to Santiago.

We had seen a number of Glaciers up close and personal but having prepaid for this cruise we decided to go along for the ride. How could I think like that? Truly this was yet again another place full of wonder in the National Park. The Staff on the Lago Grey vessel were knowledgable and friendly and the experience is... More
