Church looked great but was boarded off for works so couldnt see the entire outsides, or go inside. Maybe would be worth higher score if I could have seen more

This church was under renovations the first 3 times we were in Arica (Oct. 2015, Feb. 2016 and Sept. 2016) but this time it was open and looks beautiful.

Unfortunately when we visited could not go in due to a renovation project, but the history of the Church is fascinating, Eiffel designed it to withstand earthquakes , it is very pretty.

This was the only reason I visited Arica - sadly it is currently under construction with a big barrier so you can't go up/in to visit it.... You can see from the outside only the 2nd story and tower.

It is located in the central square located at the foot of the hill , san marcos cathedral was built in the workshops of eifel , a meeting place and meeting local people , small and beautiful
