The Vimean Beauty+ Salon is a full service, high-end salon located in Siem Reap, Cambodia. The salon an economic empowerment project and training school established through a collaboration between global business professionals and the Cambodia NGO AFESIP. The salon acts as both an oasis of beauty services for customers and an inspiration for young women rising from poverty in Cambodia. The Vimean beauty+ salon offers hair styling, make up, eyebrow threading and skin care services. We use only high-end products such as Davines, Bobbi Brown and Clinique delivered by our professionally trained stylists and artists. We balance giving our students real world experience with ensuring our guests receive high-end services comparable to spas found in 5-star hotels. Came with my sister and we both got a wash, trim and blowdry. Wonderful head massage, hair feels very healthy afterwards. Would definitely come back. ($15)

Had my haircut and a pedicure today, both for a really reasonable price.
They didn’t have the original colour that I wanted so I had to choose a different one. The pedicure was really well done and I’m very happy with how my nails look. The girl was very professional and took her time and was very careful!
I originally wanted a trim of my hair but was persuaded by the hairdresser to have more length cut off as the ends were dry after 3 months of travelling. I ended up with much shorter hair than I originally wanted but my hair is very healthy. I think the layers may be slightly uneven at the front but we’ll have to see what it looks like as it grows out. The hair wash and head massage were amazing!
Overall it is a very good salon with friendly staff. I’m sure I will grow to love my hair! I would come back here again!

I have worked with some of the worlds best hair & makeup artist both in Photography and Film. The owner Torng Seav did my wife’s hair and makeup before photographing my wife giving her that “Film Star” look. Her work was so great and professional, I was amazed. Torng Seav is a star hair & makeup artist, I give her 5 stars. My wife was so happy that she is going again today.

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND VIMEAN
I had high hopes for Vimean based on their reviews. I had just finished travelling Southeast Asia and had wanted to get some highlights before returning home. I showed a picture of a picture with caramel highlights that the hairdresser even took a picture of. Apparently the owner who could speak better english was out for lunch and somehow there was a miscommunication because I was not even shown a color pallet and my hair was bleached and toned to be bright yellow uneven streaks. I wanted to scream when I looked in the mirror. The owner came over and asked how I liked the color and I was honest and saying I hated it. I showed her the picture and she tried to assure me it was similar enough and just needed some more toning. I insisted on dying it back the other color and would have expected her to take over, but she let the one who destroyed my hair continue. She also tried to tell me I'd have to pay for two dye jobs even though you'd expect to not have to pay for any. As if it wasn't bad enough, the layers I asked for ended up being choppy and will now result in me having to cut my hair very short. Please see attached pictures. Will not be recommending this.

I'm sorry to hear about your poor experience in visiting our salon. We do our best to clearly communicate our services and what your student stylist is capable of delivering. In your case, our student stylist under-estimated the complexity of your request and the salon was quite busy at the time.
I hope you'll reconsider your recommendation if you come back to Siem Reap. We would be happy to refund any money you spent as well as provide a free service of your choosing. I know from all of our very satisfied customers that we consistently deliver high quality services at a very competitive price. We do this while offering a nurturing training environment for young women who are working to overcome poverty. We appreciate your feedback and will incorporate it into our training so we continue to improve.

Awful! Do not go here, unprofessional and not skilled at all.
Facial experience
My friend got a facial, she was not asked about her skin concerns nor did she get a skin assessment. It lasted 10 minutes max and the product that was applied started to burn her face so she had to get it washed off immediately.
After this was done no one apologized or spoke to her to make sure she was ok despite her waiting for me to finish for over an hour.
At the end they tried to charge her, we tried to explain that the service described in the leaflet was not done and the product burnt her face. No manager was available and so they rung the manager via telephone who said that we still had to pay.
Ridiculous! No apology whatsoever or acknowledgment that the lady clearly wasn’t skilled to complete the treatment.
Mani / Pedi
Took ages and at times was painful. I had to ask the ladies to go easy with the nail file as they were scraping my skin. They laughed, said yes but didn’t. One in particular clearly didn’t know what she was doing, she kept using the cuticle pusher the wrong way round.
When I went to pay the told me it was $13 at the start but then forced me to pay $26 at the end.
Absolutely awful!
I appreciate what they are trying to do here however I have been to other social enterprise salons in Cambodia who display professionalism, skill and customer service.
I seldom right reviews however it was that bad I wish to warn others about this place.

I had my hair highlighted and cut in September. The lady who did my hair was polite and very careful in making sure the highlights were the correct size and neat. Unfortunately, however she left the bleach on for far too long (several 2-hours), she tried wiping some of as she worked on other sections using a towel and sprayed on water but the bleach remained. As result my hair is significantly burnt, there was about 2/3 inches of burnt hair wen she finished which had previously been in good condition. I should add the price, which was $80 for medium length hair.

Do NOT go here for threading!! After travelling for a long time, I really needed my brows threaded (my skin doesn't react well to waxing.) I called this place ahead of time to make sure that a threading specialist was in for the day/time I was coming, but evidently I was lied to because the girl who did my brows clearly had no idea what she was doing. One brow came out mediocre/okay, but the other was so thin and raggedy that I had a tan line showing! It also hurt like hell. She was very nervous and definitely knew she had messed up because she gave me a discount, but honestly it should've been free because it's been months and my brow still hasn't grown back yet. Don't get your brows threaded here!!

My hair is really difficult to manage and I was skeptical to go to a hair salon in Asia, since their hair is so silky and straight. I was afraid they were not going to be able to handle my coarse hair. But I had to stop nice I have been traveling for a while and my hair needed to be pampered as well😀😀😀As soon as I walked to the beauty shop, I was greeted with a smile. I explained what I needed and how my hair needed to be blow dry. She instructed me to sit on the chair so that she could take take a look at my hair condition. She touched my hair to feel the texture. She asked me where I was from, I said from Dominican Republic!!🇩🇴. She said that it would not be a problem. It was the first time that she had met someone from this Island🌝They took me to the shampoo sink and I was given the best wash ever, I felt like in a spa😍the stylist massaged my hair while during the shampoo and conditioner process. I felt in heaven, she gently and slowly scrubbed my entire scalp, during both process, shampoo and conditioner. The shampoo hair bed was so confortable and the way she maneuver my head was superb! Sometimes this type of chair can feel very unbearable on the neck area. Once on the styling station, she removed 80% of moisture and proceeded to blow dry. She used the flat iron afterwards. I requested it. The stylist did a pretty good job, based on the fact that they never dealt with my hair type. They also did my nails and the manicurist was very gentled and she did a very good job. Altogether I paid 18, plus the tip I gave them. I think it was a good deal since I paid between 45-55 when I am in the USA. They are also a non-profit organization, they teach young Cambodia girls for free, their school is on the top floor. I was sad to hear that, because if i would’ve had known earlier, I would’ve had volunteered as a teacher, since I a freelancer a editorial hair stylish in USA and have a cosmetology licensed permit. I hope next time when I return to Siem Reap, it is a very lovely city! I have attached some pictures

After searching for a salon that offered pedicures I chose this one as I liked the fact that the salon helps to fight poverty through training.
I know that this is not a high end salon but there were many things that could do with improvement.
-The pedicure took one hour to complete which I thought was too long.
-They only have one armchair where the pedicure takes place. The foot rest is not weighted which means the foot rest moves which is very uncomfortable, especially when you have to be there a long time.
-Gel is not available.
-Not many nail polish colours available.
-Staff don't speak much English.
-The pedicure was dried with a hair dryer (?!)
-Staff or customer (unsure) was listening to Khmer music and singing which was quite irritating.
-There were too many staff members (6). They were all doing hair colour/treatments/pedicures on each other. Whilst this may seem like good training there were no other paying customers other than myself. I went at the end of the day so I'm not sure if that something to do with it but the salon felt like someone's home and in my opinion it lacked a professional salon feel.
-Lastly, when she had finished she put away all the tools she had been using with me in a drawer without sterilizing them.
Maybe the hair salon side of things are good but I can't say that I would recommend this place for nail services.
The only reason I gave it a 2 star rating is because I could see the girl was trying to do a thorough job but hygiene/ambience/skill was lacking.

I do extend it with all sincerity. Regarding the points you mention in your review:
- We are please to announce that we've open new nail spa located in night market last week, it's all focus on nail such as nail gel, acrylic, callus remover,machine for sterilizing after use,many option of nail polish and a very comfortable pedicure chair.
- Vimean is a training school and salon at ground floor is only for clients, the students not allow to do hair or nails for clients. You might feel annoy with other clients musical.
Again, Please accept my apology and thank you for your feedback to make us improve in the future and become a better salon and school.

Dear Ren,
I was very disappointed to read of your experience with us. An apology will regrettably not alter the outcome of your experience with us.
That's really bad experience with the miss communication. For the nail service, I apologized that it took much of your time. We will improve more as we will have a nail spa in our salon with the professional trainer.
The price for Mani/Pedi Enhanced Package is 13$ for normal polish as in menu. For GEL NAIL is Mani=13 $ and Pedi=13$ so the total of Mani/Pedi Gel is 26$.
Facial skin care service. Normally we do the massage facial. We don't have the skin treatment service here. I am sorry again for miss communication by different language. I was not at salon while you're in that's really so bad to solve the best acceptable for you.
Again, please accept my apology and thank you for your feedback to make us improve in the future and become a better salon and school.
