About
Siem Reap's only nature trails wind through semi-evergreen forest where rare Indochinese silvered langur populations are known to live. Easy to walk, the trails start and end at the same location: Preah Ang Thom village. Local rangers accompany your group and share their knowledge of the forest. You can combine a walk on the trails with other sites in Kulen, such as a visit to the waterfall.

The guide took us to a pagoda about 7km from the falls at 8am . We climbed several hundred steps to the pagoda and then walked on an even path steadily for the next hour or so. It is shaded and easy to traverse . There is not too much wild life but hundreds of dancing butterflies to enjoy. It’s a good way to arrive at Kulen and make your way to the falls passed the 1000 lingum. The falls themselves at this time of the year quite good although obviously not in spate . Unfortunately the place was crowded with locals probably because of Chinese New Year . Don’t let that put you off. There’s lot of trails around the area. .

My husband and I enjoyed an absolutely fantastic day at the Kulen National Park and mountains with Mr Chenda, our extremely informative, pleasant and amiable tour guide. He was witty, honest and entertaining and we thoroughly enjoyed the tour. He provided a moving and enlightening account of the past and present life of Cambodians in his own unique way.
He ingratiated himself even more by taking some of the most amazing pictures of the group which he later whatsapped to us all. What a guide!!!
The experience was further enhanced by meeting a fantastic group with whom we bonded so well, thus making the day memorable.
If you're planning a trip to Angkor Wat, Cambodia, I would strongly advise you to book this tour with Siem Reap Shuttle Tours for an unforgettable experience. Couldn't recommend it highly enough.

Engage smarty the driver up to this waterfall. He was nice and introduce us to the inclining Buddha which was on the way. On the way up we saw many children filling up road with soil. After understanding from the driver then we know that They do it as they are waiting for people to donate them with water or food or money. They were v poor and no money. Those who are going up the waterfall pls buy packed food or water to give away to them. They need it!!

This was a complete waste of time and money! I cost us $100 to be driven 2.5 hours through the countryside to enter the park and then spend another hour driving up a dirt-track road filled with pot-holes. Upon arrival, you are greeted by a variety of tourist booths hawking the same junk one sees at the night market. There is garbage strewn everywhere and you have the sense that you've been dropped off next to a landfill.
At the top of the falls are a bunch of shaded huts where the local tourists hang out and eat and who knows where they throw their garbage…? Hiking down some old steel steps you make your way to the falls. The water, while relatively clear has a brownish tinge to it. My travel mate was excited to go swimming (we were the only westerners) although I declined; we later deduced that this must have been the source of his diarrhea that lasted for well over a week (with 2 days seriously out of commission).
Do let yourself get fooled into going there as it is nothing special. If you like hanging out in squalor and interested in getting intestinal problems, then by all means sign up!

Except for the time we enjoyed at the waterfalls, the rest is a waste of money. The 1000 shiva lingga in the river bed is over rated. What is shown in you tube videos is definitely not what it is here. Murky water n we were trying to make out the carvings in the mossy river bed. USD20 for entrance is a total rip off. Stop over for lunch after the visit of 1000 lingga, reclining buddha and waterfalls is at a restaurant which charges exorbitantly. Overall, this visit can be skipped. Enjoy yourselves in city center night life. Fun n lively.

We had 4 days in Siem Reap so it was not a problem to take a day and breeze through a Nation Park.
Our guide was fantastic, super sweet etc...however: the Jeep drive through the countryside, we had already done twice. Took us 2h30 to get to the sleeping buddha which is not really that fabulous...there are beggars along the steps to get there, it is VERY dirty - locals just through whatever, wherever.
Little hits selling the same cheap things you will find at the night markets...
The 1000 Lingas in the river were nothing special. I mean, we just enjoyed walking around but we were not much interested after seeing 2 underwater sculptures - or barely identifying them.
There was a Western Hinduist group convention there and this 1 guy was yelling at the rest of the group.
Just odd...
Waterfalls: huge let down, dangerous metal stairs if you have kids with you, water is not looking too clean and, I recommend you stay away from the swing in front of the major fall.
You sit, you take a pic, and then a woman asks you for money.
Like I said to her: i’ll pay, no questions asked. But put a sign up. If not, you are trapping people and nothing irritates me more than feeling trapped.
If there is no sign, then it’s a donation. And people have a choice.
That woman was yelling at a group of Chinese who couldn’t understand why she was asking them for cash ;)
It’s just way to far of a trip considering.

We were booked on this tour by our hotel and paid the price for not doing our own research. In short crowded bus where air con was turned off, when it was on it didn't work down the back, we opened windows and driver shut them. Seats and covers were dirty and stained. From 8am until 1.50pm we were provided one small bottle of water. Driven to a remote restaurant for lunch with enormous prices that even the Cambodians on the bus with us refused to eat at. When all 12 refused to eat there we were made to wait 30 minutes for the driver to eat. Driver dropped us off near hotel and we walked back. The tour guide Ross was the only positive.

We booked a taxi for the day to take us to see the waterfall at Phnom Kulen park and hit Ta Prohm and Banteray Serai on the way back to Siem Reip. Definitely suggest this route as a day trip out of Siem Reip. Make sure to go to the waterfall first as the road up through the park runs one way (up) until noon and one way (down) in the afternoon. The waterfall at Kulen was really cool. Lots of tourists and locals but still room to find your own spot under the water crashing down from 10 stories above. Pretty incredible and just like you would picture a jungle waterfall. Don't mind the little fishes snacking on your flesh while you hang out under the waterfall. There are little change rooms at the base of the waterfall for changing ($1). Unfortunately there is more garbage than you would like to see in a national park but hopefully that is something they will get under control soon and it does not ruin the experience once you are in the water.

Phnom Kulen is a good diversion out of the city (and away from the temples) if you have a day to spare, however the abundance of beggars, money changers, and incense sellers does detract from the experience somewhat.
If you can't be bothered walking to the top of the reclining buddha pagoda, moto drivers will take you to the top for 5000 riel per person one way.
Restaurants prices are reasonable enough, considering the portion sizes are quite large, and that all the ingredients need to be lugged up the mountain.
Tickets are $20 for foreigners, 50 cents for khmers, and $2.50/vehicle (including the driver, if the driver is a khmer).

Besides visiting temples up on Kulen Mountain, I get to visit amazing cliff, ancient village, coconuts trees that lived 200 years, spring water, Thousand Lingas, waterfalls, ancient stone carvings...Taste the bananas grown on Kulen Mountain, it is sweet and tasty. However, road construction is ongoing to promote tourism on Kulen Mountain so it can be dusty during the rides. Though it is not so high altitude, the night can be cold if you are staying overnight on the mountain.
