My Fiancee and I arrived Angkor Village Hotel at 8:30 in the morning, and we were welcomed by hotel's staffs with cold towers, nice drinks and warm smiles. After the drink, we were picked up by a Land Rover Defender and accompanied by our Chef and Guide to visit the old market, and we really felt like were some kind of VIP with their arrangement. Our Chef and Guide showed us the ingredients in the market which were going to be used for our course. It was great to visit old market, lots of people, lots of foods and lots of fun. After the tour, we returned to the hotel and again welcomed with cold towers, nice drinks and warm smiles.
Finally, we arrived our kitchen and it was tidy, clean and perfectly air-coned. It was a spacious kitchen with a separate cook top and worktop. Each course came with 3 dishes, an appetizer, a main course, and a dessert. We had chosen different course for our own, so there were totally 6 different dishes. The hotel arranged two chefs to teach us cook and a guide to look after us, they were very friendly, patient and professional. They explained everything from the ingredients, the tools, the way to cook and they always remind us to be careful with the knife and the fire. We finally finished our dishes after 1.5 hours of cooking, it was really fun and we received our recipe books at the end of the class.
After the cooking, our foods were sent to the restaurant and our guide showed us around the hotel. The hotel was beautiful, everywhere was green and calm. After the tour in the hotel, we arrived the restaurant for our own cooked lunch. Our foods were well presented, tasty and we did enjoy our lunch very much. However, we couldn't finish our foods due to the portion was huge so the restaurant packed the foods for us to take away.
Although the class was a bit pricy comparing with others, we really think that was worthy with their service, arrangement, quality and their people.
