We found Angkor Guide Sam through a travel blog just by chance. We booked the 3 day tour so we could see as many sites that were on our list. We were blown away first of all by the content of the tour but having a guide who was so knowledgeable was the real score! Our guide was Samandy and our driver was Mr Pov (an excellent & conscientiousness driver). We were quite impressed with Samondy as he provided a wealth of information about each of the Angkor sites and communicated it to us very well. Many times he offered to take photographs of us and knew the ideal spot to take them. For that we’re grateful!
The 3 day tour was a balanced itinerary with a stop for lunch. As well, ice cold water and ice cold face cloths were provided. We were given some choices as to our preference of what we’d like to see on one of our days. We opted out of the floating village visit and saw the Angkor silk farm/handicraft workshop instead which was quite fascinating. You can see the artisans at work and also pick up some stunning and beautiful quality silks, silver, woodwork and ceramics. This organization provides opportunities to young rural people near their village which was great to see.
The Angkor and surrounding temples are a must see when visiting Siem Reap and this is a tour company who will provide a great and reasonably priced tour.
I certainly would recommend Angkor Guide Sam. Without a tour guide you will just miss too much. I know you won’t be disappointed.

After writing regarding availability/price I received personal and nearly immediate replies that included different options for a one-day tour of/around the Angkor complex.
Our guide Noi Nol was very knowledgeable and helpful. Our visits to various temples and routes within them were very well-timed and afforded excellent lighting for photography.
The cold, menthol infused towels provided after we visited each site were very welcome.
If you are touring on your own, I HIGHLY recommend you enlist the service of a guide and private transportation. The price is reasonable and it is money well spent. I don't hesitate to recommend this agency.

Kelly and I came up with a list of temples we wanted to see in the Siem Reap area, I inquired with “Angkor Guide Sam” and we can’t say how happy we did. He set up a five day tour with guide and driver that met all our desired temples, at a reasonable price. We landed at Siem Reap Airport, and our guide Somondy, or “D” as he told us to call him was waiting with the car and driver and we were off.
Saying “D” was an outstanding guide doesn’t even come close to describing our experience. His knowledge, passion of love for his country and heritage was extremely evident. What sets “D” apart from the other very professional guides is his care and compassion for others. Not only with strangers we met along the way, but with me especially. I’m not a small guy, and getting up there in age. We were visiting and climbing temples with temperatures in the 90’s, he truly made me feel that he cared.
We cannot believe that he is not a professional photographer, he took pictures with our camera and phones that are out of this world. He did things with that phone that I didn’t know could be done (only had the phone at least 5 years).
Seeing the temples were breathtaking beautiful, hearing D give us the history and lore brought them to life for me. I can honestly say if you are wanting to see the temples, you must book with Angkor Guide Sam and please ask for Somondy! You won’t find a better guide.
D and our driver were always right on time, had ice cold water and to die for ice cold washcloths to cool off with after each sojourn. Our driver was always very safe and careful, and a excellent driver!
Thanks “Angkor Guide Sam” and especially Somondy (D) for making our adventure everything we could have hoped and wished for.

We booked a 4 day tour with Angkor Guide Sam to visit Koh Ker, Baeng Mealea, Tonle Sap and do the grand and small circuits. Communication was quick and efficient. Tour was great.
Our driver was Tawan. He is a good driver and drove very safely. After every temple visit he provided us with cold water and towels. He was courteous and helpful throughout our tour. He was punctual and turned up in front of our hotel at the agreed time every day. The car was comfortable, large and clean with very efficient A/C.
Our guide was Thean. Thean is a very knowledgeable tour guide with great heart and good sense of humour. He could answer all our questions about architecture, history, khmer language or even food/cooking. He speaks good English and knows the best spots to take pictures. He drew our attention to carvings and statues and expleained the myths and stories behind. He is very passionate about history and loves his country. He made our trip special and we learnt a lot about the Khmer empire.
I would highly recommend Angkor Guide Sam and particularly Tawan and Thean.

We had a tour with guide Sophal and driver Tavan. Both were professional. Sophal was knowledgable and had a nice relaxing pace which made the heat more manageable. We enjoyed hearing about the history and current Cambodian culture. Since we had already visited Bayon the day before, Sophal brought us to a “smaller” but still impressive ruins which were very quiet with only a few tourist there. It was nice to explore and we appreciated his insight and knowledge to incorporate a relaxing temple away from the crowds. I would recommend it if you have time. Sophal was also good about leading us around temples in a way to avoid the crowds as much as possible.
Tavan was very professional and his car was nice and clean with good air conditioning. He and Sophal were waiting for us in our hotel lobby when we came down before the meeting time. After touring a temple, Tavan was always waiting for us with cold water and the car cooling off. Coming from America, the driving in Cambodia is fairly chaotic, but Tavan was a good driver and did not drive too fast. We felt comfortable with him.
The company was responsive to emails, particularly when we emailed the night before asking to substitute a different temple for Bayon, which we had visited the day before our tour. We were never asked to visit any shops or anything like that which is always welcome. The entire experience was very professional.
Would recommend to our friends and family.

My husband & I highly recommend our guide Nol & driver Phea for a fantastic tour of the temples around Siem Reap, Cambodia. Nol was very informative about the history and construction of each temple. But he also took care of my difficulty in walking due to an injury and helped me to enjoy the impressive and huge temples. Plus he directed me to the best photo spots. Besides driving expertly, Phea catered to our needs with cold water and towels after touring in the very warm weather. Thank you so very much Nol & Phea for a great time and tour.

We booked a private tour with Sam and had Pov as a driver and Sophal as the guide. Pov got us to the temples safely and always had cold water and hand towels available for our use throughout the day which was very nice on a very hot winter day in Cambodia. Sophal was very informative and has scouted spots for perfect pictures at all the temple sites. Overall a very professional and great tour experience and would highly recommend.

I can't say enough about Sam and the customized adventure he put together for my wife and I on our trip to Siem Reap!
I had actually been to the area around 5 years prior and went on a group tour where I felt like I couldn't really learn as much about the region as I wanted. Now revisiting with my wife, an Art History buff, I knew I needed to find the best tour guide possible. I researched and came across Sam on a Reddit thread about luxury tours of the Angkor parks. I reached out to him thinking it might be out of our price range, and I'm happy I did! Sam worked with me to pick the best destinations for our two day time frame and his prices were reasonable (if anything, I would have paid more!). He directed us towards buying our park tickets ahead of time, which saved us a ton of time as well.
The morning of Day 1, Sam was sitting in our hotel lobby ready to go whenever we were. This was the best part of the private tour. If we wanted to rest, he was happy to rest with a smile. If we wanted to move onto something else, he was ready to go. If we wanted to keep staring at those beautiful murals for an extra hour, he would say "Of course, this is your tour!".
We visited so many temples day 1 in the main Angkor area, and Sam literally knew everything about them. My wife peppered him with questions. Names, dates, stories, he knew them all. It was amazing! In between each stop we piled into the well air conditioned Van with our driver "Van," and were immediate treated with cool scented towels and ice cold water to relax us. Sam knew how to get us to the little nestled away temples where no one else visited. It was even better than the main ones! In the peace and quiet of the jungle with no other tourists around to chatter and disrupt, we could really breathe in the historic place we were in. Nature and history combined to make an otherworldly scene to take in in silence, surrounded by jungle and monkeys.
Day 2 was some more temples, but also a glimpse into the local lives of Cambodians. With such a harsh history so closely in the rearview mirror, the people are incredibly warm and welcoming. We visiting an active temple on a mountain top, a cliffside viewpoint that took our breathe away, and the floating village that gave us insight into the ingenuity of locals.
Sam knew how to avoid the high tourist times at each stop, and made sure to take us to delicious authentic spots for lunch each day. I feel like I really got a sense for how the local community lives and works. The tour was a perfect blend of history and culture.
If you are visiting Siem Reap, you MUST contact Sam. He made our trip a wonderful experience. Thank you Sam!!

Sam did a very thorough job of showing us a lot in a small time frame (about 3 days), personalizing our trip, answering our many questions, and being very flexible. He was always on time, with great restaurant and entertainment suggestions, much knowledge of the history of all the temples (there are so many!), and his driver was also a pleasure - always smiling and making sure we kept cool and hydrated! We were pleased to be able to do the floating village boat trip, despite the water levels being low in the dry season, and the whole trip was a great one, at a very fair price (which he adjusted down based on changes to the itinerary due to our unexpected flight changes - and we got a lot in at a very reasonable price).

We spent 3 days on a private tour with our guide Dee (Dy) and Tavan as our driver. They took care of us extremely well and the service was top notch professional. We were given maximum freedom to pace the itinerary. Dee was smart and knowledgeable on ways to avoid the crowds and to ensure that we would not miss all the sights and viewpoints, as well as explaining the history and myths represented in the carvings very patiently to us. He is also a very committed photographer and helped us took a ton of pictures. My wife said that we have never had so many photos taken together since our wedding 30 years ago! Cold water and cold towels after a long walk in hot weather felt wonderful. Overall, we have a great time and the tour provided a ton of added value. Worth every dollar and will recommend Angkor Guide Sam to anyone. Will give them 10 stars if I can.

Bonjour

Cordialement
Hi, I will be going there on this upcoming August.
I'm a Muslim, so is it ok for me to wear a hijab/head scarf when visiting Angkor Wat and the other temples?
Just wondering since religion does matter to everyone =)
Really looking forward for your reply.
Thank you!

No prohibition for Muslim people to wear a hijab/head scarf.

Hi, I visited your website and noticed the following remark:
Please dress properly for visiting temples. If you wear shorts and T-shirts, make sure they are long enough to be knee length and shoulder covered. No scarf or shawl and tank top are allowed.
I'm a bit confused - Does this mean I cannot visit the temple if I'm wearing the Muslim headscarf/hijab? Is it okay if I'm taking my 7, 5 years old and 10 months old baby for the tour?
Appreciate your response and thank you.

I believe the scarf and shawl refer to items of clothing that would or could be worn over tank tops or sleeveless blouses...its about wearing clothing that respects the culture and religion... You would be just fine (remember to take plenty of water)

What is the difference between the Classic tours and the VIP tours?
Sam S
Siem Reap, Cambodia1 contribution
Dear Valued Customers!
the classic is to see only the temples in the Angkor archeological sites but vip is to see the selected main temples in the Angkor archeological sites and the temples outside the Angkor Archeological sites. Esp when you read the passes I mentioned in the exclusion for all 2 or 3 Day Classic Tours are together but Vp Tours are separate so let say all vip Tours are to see the temples inside & outside the Angkor Archeological sites.
