We discovered Sam through Reddit and reached out to him via WhatsApp after visiting his website: https://angkorguidesam.com. Sam responded immediately, making the booking process seamless.
His website offers a variety of single and multi-day tour options. We chose a 2-day private tour that included both a driver and guide, as well as an airport pickup with a brief city tour afterward.
Sam was exceptionally responsive and flexible, even accommodating last-minute changes to our itinerary. He was always punctual, accompanied by a skilled driver, and provided a clean, comfortable SUV. Every time we got into the car, we were greeted with cold water and refreshing cold washcloths—small but thoughtful touches that made a big difference.
As a tour guide, Sam was knowledgeable, patient, and tireless in ensuring we had the best possible experience. I highly recommend Sam to anyone visiting Siem Reap in need of an outstanding guide.

We recently visited Cambodia / Siem Reap for the first time. Travelling independently as a group of 4 (2 couples) the purpose of our trip was to visit Angkor Wat and other nearby temples. We decided that we would need a guide and driver for the visit and after researching the options we booked Sam based on the previous excellent reviews.
It was the best decision we made. Sam listened to our requirements and developed a two day itinerary which covered every site we wanted visit and included the unforgettable sun rising over the Angkor Wat complex. Sam’s excellent knowledge and stories about the places visited and his guidance around the sites meant we saw and did things that we would not have done without his guidance.
The weather was very hot and humid and Sam and his air conditioned van, cold flannels and drinks every time we returned to the van kept us going as did Sam’s adapting the pace to one that worked for our group. The trips also built in mid day return to our hotel for a refreshing swim and break before continuing our tour.
Sam is very friendly and his presence enhanced our visit and we cannot recommend him too highly. Thank you Sam.

Di Soy was our guide for three days of exploring the temples of Angkor Wat. We felt that the temples of Angkor were a highlight of our trip and deserved expert explanations and Di accomplished that. He had a route that avoided most of the crowds, guiding us through several temples including at sunrise and sunset. He included a stop at a land mine clearing museum, a mountaintop Buddha, and a dip in the waterfalls.
His English was very good and explained the history of the temples well and patiently answered all our many questions. He always had cold water and cold washcloths waiting for us each time we returned to the car-a blessing!
We had special requests-our family has a 75-year old “rubbing” from Angkor Wat and he knew just where to find the exact scene in the temple. Our group consisted of two 75-year-old parents, and a young family with a toddler and 4-year-old. He and his young driver accommodated us all expertly, including helping us with the baby buggy up and down the steps. When we added an extra visit at the end of our tour, he and his young driver changed their schedule to take us back to Angkor Wat and waited to drive us home. Excellent service!
We felt that the temples of Angkor Wat deserved a good guide to fully experience them and Di accomplished this. We would highly recommend this service.

I contacted Sam via what’s app at the last moment the day we were arriving in Siem Reap due to a change of plans. He patiently helped me figure out the right itinerary for our group of four, two of us who had been there before. We spent three days with Soy Dy, or “Dee,” who was a great guide and intimately familiar with the history and art of the temples. The driver was great and had water and cool towels for us after returning from the heat. Also umbrellas for the rain, huge bonus!

Sam did a very thorough job of showing us a lot in a small time frame (about 3 days), personalizing our trip, answering our many questions, and being very flexible. He was always on time, with great restaurant and entertainment suggestions, much knowledge of the history of all the temples (there are so many!), and his driver was also a pleasure - always smiling and making sure we kept cool and hydrated! We were pleased to be able to do the floating village boat trip, despite the water levels being low in the dry season, and the whole trip was a great one, at a very fair price (which he adjusted down based on changes to the itinerary due to our unexpected flight changes - and we got a lot in at a very reasonable price).

My tour guide Dy was really knowledgeable and structured the visits to the temples to try to avoid crowds as best as possible. He was able to tell me where to get some great photos and since I was on my own he took lots of photos of me too which was fantastic. Highly recommend Angkor Guide Sam - car was clean and airconditioned and cool towel and water very much appreciated.

I can't say enough about Sam and the customized adventure he put together for my wife and I on our trip to Siem Reap!
I had actually been to the area around 5 years prior and went on a group tour where I felt like I couldn't really learn as much about the region as I wanted. Now revisiting with my wife, an Art History buff, I knew I needed to find the best tour guide possible. I researched and came across Sam on a Reddit thread about luxury tours of the Angkor parks. I reached out to him thinking it might be out of our price range, and I'm happy I did! Sam worked with me to pick the best destinations for our two day time frame and his prices were reasonable (if anything, I would have paid more!). He directed us towards buying our park tickets ahead of time, which saved us a ton of time as well.
The morning of Day 1, Sam was sitting in our hotel lobby ready to go whenever we were. This was the best part of the private tour. If we wanted to rest, he was happy to rest with a smile. If we wanted to move onto something else, he was ready to go. If we wanted to keep staring at those beautiful murals for an extra hour, he would say "Of course, this is your tour!".
We visited so many temples day 1 in the main Angkor area, and Sam literally knew everything about them. My wife peppered him with questions. Names, dates, stories, he knew them all. It was amazing! In between each stop we piled into the well air conditioned Van with our driver "Van," and were immediate treated with cool scented towels and ice cold water to relax us. Sam knew how to get us to the little nestled away temples where no one else visited. It was even better than the main ones! In the peace and quiet of the jungle with no other tourists around to chatter and disrupt, we could really breathe in the historic place we were in. Nature and history combined to make an otherworldly scene to take in in silence, surrounded by jungle and monkeys.
Day 2 was some more temples, but also a glimpse into the local lives of Cambodians. With such a harsh history so closely in the rearview mirror, the people are incredibly warm and welcoming. We visiting an active temple on a mountain top, a cliffside viewpoint that took our breathe away, and the floating village that gave us insight into the ingenuity of locals.
Sam knew how to avoid the high tourist times at each stop, and made sure to take us to delicious authentic spots for lunch each day. I feel like I really got a sense for how the local community lives and works. The tour was a perfect blend of history and culture.
If you are visiting Siem Reap, you MUST contact Sam. He made our trip a wonderful experience. Thank you Sam!!

I've been traveling through Cambodia with my wife and 3 kids(6 year old, 3 year old and 4 month old baby). We wanted a tour guide to take us through Angkor Wat and some of the other popular temples. We booked Sam so we could go at our own pace. Sam and Van came on time. The vehicle was more than enough for us and the hospitality was great. Unfortunately the moment we reached Angkor Wat it started pouring. Sam helped us get into the temple without getting wet and handled one of my daughters so me and my wife could focus on the other two. Once inside he took his time to show us around and explain everything in detail. Honestly unless you are well versed in Angkor history and architecture you NEED a guide. Despite the initial rain he made sure we had a good time. After that he took us through some of the other famous temples in the area. The weather cleared up but he still helped guide the girls through the temple. We got to cover more ground than we would have by ourselves that's for sure and feel relaxed and learnt a lot too. Both me and my wife and really happy with our experience and recommend him wholeheartedly for anyone looking. Oh and he takes excellent photos too.

I really enjoyed my two day tour of Angkor temples (and the Landmine Museum)! My tour guide Dy was very friendly and so knowledgeable - he shared so many interesting historical details about each of the temples we visited, which helped me to fully appreciate them. He also knew all of the best spots for great photos.
I also appreciated the driver, Serey, who drove very safely and was always quick to provide me with new water bottles throughout each day.
Overall, a great experience that I would recommend to anyone!

Sam is a fantastic tour guide, very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the Angkor temples and the history of the region and the country. In addition, he provided excellent service: picked us up at our hotel, provided cold water and cool washcloths throughout the day, and helped us avoid the worst of crowds through communications with other tour guides. His driver was careful, courteous, and always had the van conveniently waiting with the AC on (a lovely service on a 90+ degree day). We highly recommend Sam’s all day tour of the Angkor ruins!

Bonjour
Cordialement

Hi, I will be going there on this upcoming August.
I'm a Muslim, so is it ok for me to wear a hijab/head scarf when visiting Angkor Wat and the other temples?
Just wondering since religion does matter to everyone =)
Really looking forward for your reply.
Thank you!
Written July 6, 2017
No prohibition for Muslim people to wear a hijab/head scarf.
Written July 6, 2017
Hi, I visited your website and noticed the following remark:
Please dress properly for visiting temples. If you wear shorts and T-shirts, make sure they are long enough to be knee length and shoulder covered. No scarf or shawl and tank top are allowed.
I'm a bit confused - Does this mean I cannot visit the temple if I'm wearing the Muslim headscarf/hijab? Is it okay if I'm taking my 7, 5 years old and 10 months old baby for the tour?
Appreciate your response and thank you.
Written April 21, 2017
I believe the scarf and shawl refer to items of clothing that would or could be worn over tank tops or sleeveless blouses...its about wearing clothing that respects the culture and religion... You would be just fine (remember to take plenty of water)

What is the difference between the Classic tours and the VIP tours?
Written December 6, 2016
Dear Valued Customers!
the classic is to see only the temples in the Angkor archeological sites but vip is to see the selected main temples in the Angkor archeological sites and the temples outside the Angkor Archeological sites. Esp when you read the passes I mentioned in the exclusion for all 2 or 3 Day Classic Tours are together but Vp Tours are separate so let say all vip Tours are to see the temples inside & outside the Angkor Archeological sites.
