About
We are a local floating villager who uses education and life to work, and invested back to our rural villagers in Prek Toal village. We work as a volunteer and have non-salary monthly fees for staff’s position like other companies. Prek Toal Tours is a small local not-for-profit community tour which is owned by a real local floating villager from Prek Toal village, located in Battambang province, Cambodia. Every booking made to us directly, it means that they help us to invest in and support our community so they get 100% benefit. We do not just only talk but it is our activity to help the community. A big part of your experience is the opportunity for you to make a real difference to the lives of the people in our village. Your visit to our village will help them to get a better life and encourage them to build a good future for their child and families because of your reservation.

Perfectly arranged, English spoken guided tour deep into local village life on the Tonle Sap lake and into the Prek Toal Bird Sanctuary. I would recommend a night's stay (at least!), as it takes some time to fully observe the way local people go about their daily routines on the lake and among the floating villages on it.
We were picked up at our guesthouse in Siem Reap and were returned there about 24 hours later, but it felt like we were gone for a week. Wonderful, immersive experience. Many thanks to manager Hoksan and Mr. Va.

How fabulous!! A wonderful 1-day tour with friendly, knowledgable guide, Sophal, which included tour of floating village, bird sanctuary, and a delicious home-cooked lunch served in a floating house. I cannot recommend highly enough - one of the highlights from our month in Cambodia. When you choose this organisation, you can be sure that proceeds go to the village, since it's run by the village of Prek Toal for the village. We were picked up from our hotel in Siem Riep and looked after extremely well all day.

We had a wonderful day with prektoal tours - travelling by boat across Tonle Sap at sunrise, then birdwatching in the bird sanctuary where we saw many magnificent birds. Mr Hoksan and his team are very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the wildlife of this area. We felt very privileged to have lunch at the floating village and to experience this unique way of life. I would strongly recommend this tour.

A great day, seeing so much.
The morning was spent bird watching, with the journey broken with a very pleasant cup of tea in a home in the floating village.
The afternoon was spent seeing highlights of the village. People were universally friendly and welcoming.
The tour was well organised and our guide was both knowledgeable and friendly.

We had an excellent day bird watching, seeing the floating villages, and eating local food. We were picked up at 5.30am at our hostel in Siem Reap and dropped off there around 4pm. In between, we had the opportunity to see many local birds including kingfisher, egrets, storks, and even a few eagles! The guide was also very keen and knowledgeable, spotting many for us. Recommended.

It was a lovely first hand experience of live in a floating village combined with birdwatching. They were able to accommodate my vegetarian diet and I was able to customize the tour a bit.
I enjoyed having a chance to try some local foods and some fried insects. If you don't want to try those they are more than able to cater to a tourist's food preferences

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our day with Hoksan. His passion about his home - the wetland, the village and the lifestyle there, his neighbours and conservation added greatly to our experience. He is extremely knowledgeable about the birds in the Prek Toal area (not only the wetland ones) and equipped with sharp eyes. We saw and learned so much! And that the entire operation feeds into the community’s development means it’s much more than tourism. I would highly recommend this over any tour. It was a privilege.

Prek Toal Tours' focus on development of the Prek Toal community is both refreshing and innovative. The Prek Toal community is one of those 'different' and charming communities that many of us don't get to see. The travel and tour company's focus on the development of its community stays with you for a very long time and carries you along with the company's enthusiasm and desire for a better future for the members of the community. A wonderful experience.

I am Hoksan AN (Mr) from Prek Toal village, where I was born and I have spent my whole life on the lake and in a floating house. I am also the founder of Prek Toal Tours. There are several floating villages in the Kingdom of Cambodia. Whenever the season changes the water level rises or falls, so our surroundings are always changing.
Prek Toal is one of three biospheres on Tonlé Sap Lake. There is a beautiful bird sanctuary that makes it the most worthy and easiest of the three to visit. It is an ornithologist’s fantasy, with a huge range of rare breeds gathered in one tiny space, together with storks, wading birds and also the spot-billed performance seabirds.
This floating village is on the edge of the Sangke River (which is the way to Battambang City by boat) from the Tonle Sap Lake. This is the most important body of water in the Kingdom of Cambodia. The villagers live semi-permanently in different places for a few months and then move as the water level rises and falls. The villagers live like other, land-based villagers, except that their “roads” are water. In the village, there are floating schools, floating gardens, floating houses and many things you can explore.
Prek Toal Tours invites guests and visitors to experience our life style and to enjoy the way of life. As a floating village we have a very different and simple way of life. It is very different from the life of most visitors. Our tour company is very committed to helping our floating village community to develop and grow into a sustainable economy and we welcome all visitors to help us with our work.
I truly thank you for your time and please do let us know if you have anything else that we can organize and help you. I look forward to hearing from all interested future guests and hope to welcome you to our village soon.
(Mr) Hoksan, Prek Toal Tours director.
