I went there on a Friday, since the website said closed on Thursday and Sunday, but the guard told me it was closed. When I asked all the next days, still closed. There are signs outside which seem to indicate that some restructuring is occurring, possibly for some years. Therefore, before you go, make sure they have opened again.

Interesting place
Sep 2016 • Friends
Bayon Information Center is an extremely good place to see in Siem Reap, Cambodia. It is a short time visit, but it is full of the historical meaning. I would highly like to recommend you to visit this place before you go to see the temples.

Incredible insight from a friendly local.

First and foremost we’d like to thank our new friend Veasna; the information he gave us when we visited the information center was incredible. He’s a wealth of knowledge, his English is great and he did a fantastic job explaining everything to us in great detail. We were greeted with a massive smile and left with a lot of very useful information for our time at the temples. You definitely have to come here before you see Bayon or any of the temples in the area.

This is the most informative place with the best value for money in Siem Reap. Keep up the great work Veasna!

Unreliable hours BUT Great Information
Feb 2015 • Couples
You definitely do not want to miss this place and definitely MUST go before you visit Bayon Temple if you truly want to understand the history.
Guided tours of the center are given by students at the cost $2, also they have a little book called "Temple for Gods" with great information. We had to make two different trips as their posted hours are unreliable, but the information and the knowledge we left with was well worth the hassle.

Check opening days

We tried to visit today only to find it was closed. Suggest a phone call before you visit to avoid disappointment and an unnecessary tuk tuk fare.

Visit here BEFORE you go to the temples
Feb 2014 • Couples
A visit here costing $2 will give you the background information on the Khmer Empire and a lot if detail on the most important temples, not just Bayon. You will actually know what you are looking for and at when visiting them.

Conservation methods are also displayed in some detail.

We had a young lady guide all to ourselves for 75 minutes. (The tuk tuk driver waited). We are very pleased that we visited.

All in all this place should up its PR game because it is not well known enough in Siem Riep.

An Excellent Insight into the Conservation Efforts
Jan 2014 • Friends
The information center itself was interesting and informative but one of the highlights of our trip to Cambodia was a tour given by a staff archaeologist of the conservation and renovation efforts at the Bayon. We started at the Center and then returned to the Bayon for his tour. I learned more in forty minutes than I could possibly anticipate. The meeting and tour with the archaeologist was set up by our tour group and is well worth the time and money.
