Had a great day despite the heat! Ra our guide was great and very knowledgable. Made for an interesting excursion. Plenty of cold water and cold towels. Selfishly not having so many tourists around made for some great shots! It really is a great time to visit Siem Reap and utilise IndochineEx services. A beer, a stuffed bbq frog, some chicken gizzard sticks and an amazing sunset over one of the lakes will be a lasting memory.
Very professional and highly recommended.

Had a great day out with Buntha and his crew - we were 4 adults and 2 kids first cycling towards the lake. The pace was well managed, Buntha allowed for plenty of stops including a few surprises (Croc farm).

The boat trip and kayaking was pleasant and some of us even cycled all the way back to Siem Reap.

Highly recommended, we felt very well taken care of.

Boat and kayak trip on the Tonle Sap and bicycle tour in Angkor. Both very well organized. Our guide Votha was very knowledgeable, friendly and even performed as dancer to illustrate wall carvings in the Bayon temple.

Opted for the afternoon kayaking to the floating village tour for four of us, two 50 somethings and our kids of 21 and 16. Picked us up from our hotel in an air conditioned minivan and drove through some great countryside to get to the motor boat. The last 4K of road would have been better suited for a ride on a trail bike but the van and driver clearly knew what they were doing. We had a short ride on the wooden local style motor boat to the area more suitable for kayaking, once the rains come you can kayak without needing the motor boat. The kayaks were inflated and off we set, well the kids did, me and hubby do not make suitable companions for kayaking especially when the latter is more intent on taking photos! It was such fun, getting it wrong so often, nice to know we were the afternoons entertainment for the villagers. We did eventually manage to get where we were supposed to but we did need a tow to get through the tricky bits where the weeds flourish. Stopped for drinks and a rest stop at the end and were transported back by the motor boat. Was a really lovely way to see the floating village and how these people spend their lives, would thoroughly recommend it.

Our trip with Indochine Exploration was fantastic! Our guide promptly met us at our hotel and we took a 45 minute ride from the city center to the boat dock. The car was in good shape and had excellent AC. Our guide and driver spoke easily with us in perfect English about Khmer life and answered all of our typical tourist questions. When we arrived at the dock, we walked through the marina to our boat where our guide loaded coolers with drinks/lunch and the kayaks. We enjoyed a peaceful 30 minute journey until we arrived at the floating village. The seats on the boat were very comfortable and the roof overhead kept us cool from the intense sun.

When we reached the village, my husband and I walked around the pavilion to observe the local lifestyle. During this time (about 10 minutes) our guide and boat captain inflated the kayaks and we were ready to hit the water. We climbed into our bright orange kayak and were handed paddles and cold water. All of the equipment was in excellent condition (even better than what I have used back home)! The kayaks themselves were very comfortable and sturdy. We kayaked about 2 km starting from the center of the floating village though canals that led to the lake. By then we were concerned about getting sunburned (despite having applied sunscreen) and it was hot! Bring a hat if you can!

After our adventure, we enjoyed an ice cold beer to cool down while relaxing on the boat. Lunch was catered from Miss Wong (which we had found a few nights prior near Pub Street and they have great cocktails). As it turns out, they also cater a great lunch! We enjoyed a large crab cake with sweet chili sauce, cold pasta salad with vegetables, and sweet apple cake for desert.

After lunch we motored back to the marina and then drove back to the hotel. I would recommend spending more time kayaking than we did. The trip was shorter than we would have liked, but that is only because we chose to quit kayaking early. We were offered the option to continue on many times. The weather can really make of break this trip. The day of our trip was one of the hottest days during our stay in Siem Reap and there was not a cloud in the sky to offer relief from the sun. A little overcast or slightly cooler temperatures would have made this the perfect excursion. Overall though, we had a great time and would definitely recommend this company! Everything within their control was perfect.

One other note: floating village tours out of Siem Reap are riddled with tales of scams to suck money out of you to "help" the local children. We encountered none of that on our trip and I credit that to the quality work of the entire Indochine Exploration team. The village we visited had almost no other tourist around (we saw just 4 other tourist in 2 separate boats) and we were not pestered to buy anything from anyone. There are good ways to help improve the life the Cambodian people...participating in scams that exploit local children is not one of them.

We did a countryside bike tour from Siem Reap to Buffalo Lake and it was HOT, but well worth it. Our guide, Buntha, was terrific - engaging person to talk with, dry humor, very knowledgeable and sensitive to the fact that we weren't used to the heat. Truly enjoyed the time with him. We did numerous bike tours on our trip and their bikes were some of the best we used. The route was interesting, the food delicious, and all the logistics went off without a hitch. Impressive operation - definitely recommend them for your local adventure tours!

Two of us made the half day kayaking trip on tonle sap lake to the floating villages.
Our guide was lovely. He has only been guiding 3 months and this was his 2nd time leading the kayak trip. We are both experienced kayakers so we're very comfortable and keen to paddle as long as possible.

Because it's dry season we took a motor boat out maybe 30mins before reaching the village then we stopped and changed to kayaks.

The kayaks are inflatable and take 2 people but we just paddled them as singles (anyone who has paddled before will know why!!). The village is really amazing and it's great to paddle past the houses and fishing nets and out on to the main lake. I get the feeling this would be enough for most people and the motor boat met us there expecting us to return with them. We wanted to paddle longer and they were happy to allow this.

Our pick up was 7am from the hotel and we returned just before 2pm. I think you would normally be back sooner than this.

Now the down side...The trip cost $95 per person. We have kayaked all over the world (i.e. Ecuador, Brazil, Iceland, Indonesia, Greece, New Zealand, etc) and this is the most expensive trip we have made. It was good but no better than plenty of others and the kit wasn't that great. There are no other options if you're mad about paddling like us but otherwise I think you may be best saving your experience for elsewhere.

Thanks very much for your considered and helpful review. Even more thanks for the encouragement you gave to Jin, your guide. It was his first trip alone. He's been on trips before but not by himself. He came back full of enthusiasm and because of your review we confirmed his full time position as an adventure guide. We take your point about the expense but the only way to cut down on the cost would be to make it a joining trip with a larger group size in which case we couldn't offer the flexibility you enjoyed, being able to kayak for as long as you wanted with your own kayak. Regarding the kayaks we use Gumotex Solar 2 man inflatables because they offer the flexibility to launch them where we want according to the huge annual changes in the Tonle Sap. The lake increases in area and depth by a factor of 5 between June and October. As you found we could take the kayaks on the motorboat to where the paddling was best. We were very pleased to take you and hope to get the opportunity on a day trip adventure to show that the experience outweighs the cost.

Buntha, our tour guide was absolutely wonderful. While traveling through Southeast Asia, I had trouble checking my email. Buntha actually came to my hotel the day prior to our tour to ensure that we were prepared for the following day, since he had not received a email back from me, WOW, that is service beyond compare. I was very skeptical of the high prices of this company in comparison to other tour operators for the floating village tour. However, there are not many rave reviews about many floating village tours. After Buntha arrived at my hotel, I was beginning to see the shining service that warrants the price. The tour was out-of-this-world. I LOVE to travel and go to far and away places to find the most extraordinary life experiences, and I found one here. I felt like my childhood dreams of having a time machine actually came to life. Visiting the village was one of, if not the best cultural experience that I have ever experienced. Seeing a life so far from my daily reality was eyeopening and magical. Buntha led us through the village and showed us a wonderful day in Cambodia. Cambodia was such a pleasant surprise all around, and the floating village was incredible. My crazy group of four agreed that Buntha was our favorite person we encountered throughout this Southeast Asia adventure. We all feel grateful for the experience we had thanks a million. I wish we could have stayed in Cambodia longer, as there is so much more to see.

We did the kayak trip on Tonle Sap lake through a stilt village with a boat trip out to a floating village on the lake - it was a great trip and a fantastic insight into life on and around the lake. The team was well organised and everything ran very smoothly.

The tour was very well thought out and anticipated needs very well. An example is the fact that you needed to wake up super early and mostly likely venture out with minimal breakfast, but 2 hours into the trip we stopped at a beautiful location to enjoy a wonderful breakfast. All of these details continued throughout the trip and it was most appreciated.

Buntha, our guide, was very knowledgable, incredibly friendly and easy to spend the day with.

The kayaking element can be as intense or as brief as you like since a support boat is never far away making the entire trip super flexible depending on the day.
