Situated 15kms north of Anlong Veng the Cremation Site of Pol Pot is near the Thai Border opposite a new hotel and Casino Complex. Its Just a tin roof covering ashes and a couple of shrines which are falling a apart on the site of the small hospital Pol Pot died in 1998. Its changed little since I first came here in 2004; thought the area has developed considerably since then.
Its hardly a dignified final resting place for a Nations Leader; but Pol Pot is not exactly held in high esteem by the vast majority of Cambodians.

ts not exactly a popular site either, in a dusty place with no facilities and the new $2 entry fee make it only worth it if you have taken the time to come up here anyway.

As a lifelong student of history and also as a photographer who worked (on both the conflicts and the relief efforts) in this area in the late 70s and 80s, I do recommend visiting this site and others in this town, because it is part of the history of Cambodia. I give this attraction a very good rating because I consider Along Veng an interesting place to visit, not just this one small part of the town.

It's a cremation site blah blah blah, but living in Cambodia and understanding what he'll this man put the people and country through its piece of mind knowing that this evil tyrant is no longer here, should it be a tourist attraction? I think yes its a reminder to all doesn't matter what nationality or your country you are from, the journey from anlong being to Chomm is pretty spectacular for scenery especially the down hill return, no tourists about but a piece of history we can't forget.

It is not worth going! In face I think it should be torn down!
Leaving it around insults the memories of those he killed.

This one has a lot of incorrect information on past reviews so I will clarify.

This place is about an 90minutes - 2 hour drive from Siem Reap. In Anlong Veng, Udormeanchey Province. The landscapes are amazingly beautiful. They are worth the trip alone.

It is Pol Pots Cremation site, not his house. It is his final resting place and it is amazingly unremarkable. It is a phenomenal contrast to see such a notorious figure in history, left as a pile of ashes/dirt under a wood and iron site.

The lady who takes care of the site is a local, appointed by the government to maintain the site. She is not former Khmer Rouge and not a Pol Pot supporter(we asked, in Khmer). She is just a local who lives near by. She asked for 2 dollars each to maintain the site, which is fine.

She explained the history of the place and how it feels to take care of it. She is absolutely lovely. She also explained that many documentary makers and movie people come to film there and take photos with her.

Take the site for what it is, a remarkably unremarkable final resting place of a notorious genocidal maniac.

Pol Pot's House is far from Siem Reap because it is different province from Siem Reap and it is small province and it is the north of Siem Reap 80-90kms. If you go there and you must take car, van and bus because it is too long way fromSiem Reap.

Worth a visit if you are going to Preah Vihear, otherwise don't waste your time. If you do visit this site, also visit Ta Mok's house.

Amazing tale, folks are left to look around and wonder on their own. Beautiful Khmer murals inside a a view of the lake. The truck was interesting. Overall, was left a bit wanting, but an interesting bit of history, nonetheless.

...and actually nothing much one should see. We should not support dark tourism - and I actually feel sorry for having done this. Pol Pot was an evil person that should not be forgotten but definitely not commemorated.
