About
Located a mere 10 minutes from the majestic temples of Angkor, Theam’s Gallery (formely Theam's House Gallery) is the home-cum-gallery of Master Cambodian Artist, Lim Muy Theam. As you step from one breath-taking pavilion to the next, you experience a sanctuary of serenity and a true visual feast. This lush space invites you to explore and immerse yourself in Khmer culture at its very best through Theam’s impressive private collection of local artefacts. Witness young apprentice artisans painting, sculpting and lacquering, while discovering the colourful contemporary creations of Theam himself. The gallery features a professionally curated showroom exhibiting all artwork conceived and produced onsite. This exquisite visual arts space gives visitors an authentic insight into the distinctive world of Cambodian art. Located in the tropical courtyard, Theam’s Café & Lounge serves a selection of coffee and fresh juice daily.

December 2022 - Excellent collection of the artist Mr. Theam's art work, pottery studio, and Cambodia arts and historical artifacts in a beautiful gardens setting. Not a high pressure sales gallery, very chill atmosphere. Many nice areas to sit and relax and enjoy the surrounds. Not much of an impression from the street, the cool, shady interior gallery and exhibition spaces are very inviting. Also includes a nice exhibit of traditional music instruments. Support helps fund young artist programs to preserve Cambodian art and crafts. USD 5 admission for foreign visitors, give yourself an hour or so. There is a small gift shop also.

Such a huge variety of art works here to view. Charged a small entrance fee. If you love art you could easily spend a couple of hours here walking around. Little bridges, water, gardens just make this place quite special.

Somewhat on the outskirts of Siem Reap, this gallery is definitely very worth the tuk-tuk ride there. Housing historical artefacts as well as the owner’s own work, this is the perfect spot to learn about Cambodian culture and history, giving any museum a run for its money. And in the middle of this little oasis, there is also a cafe to enjoy an iced latte before hitting the exhibition rooms again.

When we travel we prefer not buying trinkets but buying something one may consider art. We were glad we visited Theam's house because the items have character and are well presented.

We purchased nothing on a 4 week trip but when we saw what this place had to offer, we could not resist. It is expensive relative to Cambodia but not by international standards. Our tuk tuk driver insisted we visit the local artisans co-op first. ( I am not sure but they may get a cut of what is purchased there but not at Theam's house) He even tried to discourage us.

I would not go out of your way if you have limited time but if you have a general interest in art it is worth a peek.

Favourite place to shop in Siem Reap. If you're looking for something more than cheap elephant pants and mass souvenirs from the typical markets, and also want something with a more interesting design twist than the more traditionally minded wares sold at Artisans D'ankor, then Theam's House is for you. It is a beautiful space that functions as a gallery, atelier (fancy French word for studio) and store space. The works here are all inspired by a minimalist, bright modern pop art style, rooted in traditional Khmer concepts. Prices are a little bit more expensive than Artisans D'ankor with a more limited range of goods, but the wares are also a bit more unique. Whilst some pieces of clothing and small sculptures can be found at both places, I haven't found the bold lacquered clay animals elsewhere and they are absolutely gorgeous, starting from around $25 upwards. Well worth a visit after you are sick and tired of the temples.

On entering Theam's House there is a beautiful garden with statues, ponds and flowers. We were greeted in the garden by a guide who showed us around. Unfortunately when we visited, the artists were on their lunch break. The pieces for sale are lovely and we purchased a vase and gecko. Highly recommend you visit.

Theam is the artist whose paintings one may or may not appreciate. But, the shop also has work by other local artisans and those trained by Theam's group. The house/shop is gorgeous and peaceful and can be rented for events

We visited this artists house and gallery and where amazed by the quality and creativity of the carvings, paintings and Khmer crafts. All are very unique and of much higher quality than 99% of the stuff you find in the numerous markets around Siem Reap. The founder (Theam) fled Cambodia during the rule of the Khmer Rouge. After living in Paris and developing his painting he returned to Cambodia and trains many young artisans in traditional crafts with distinctly modern creative edge. Prices are very modest and the gallery space itself very pleasant. Theam's sister (Maddy) showed us around and was very helpful explaining the traditional techniques and philosophy behind the gallery. We recommend this place to anyone who wants to take home some unique, tasteful and above all beautiful pieces of Cambodian art. Look up their website for the address, it's not in the main tourist part of Siem Reap, but only a 5 minute tuk-tuk ride.
