Luke was our tour guide for our day tour of Angkor Wat and surrounding temples and he was excellent - spoke English well and was very knowledgeable about the temples as well as good photo locations. Whether you just like to take nice photos for memories (which was our case) or take “professional” photos, Peace of Angkor offers both options. Luke took us to the popular temples as well as some neat ones off the beaten path but was also flexible and accommodating to our needs and interests. He was quick to point out good photo spots that could’ve been easily missed. The car ride between sites was comfortable and they offered cold water and lemongrass towels for refreshment. We would book with this group again and recommend it.

By southeast Asian standards, the tour wasn't cheap but I think it was worth it. We chose the Kompong Khleang + Beng Mealea tour and it was just the 3 of us plus guide and driver. We first stopped at a roadside "stand" to learn about bamboo rice. Then we had a longer stop at a village market where there was a birthday celebration also going on. Stopped at a couple places in Kompong Khleang to see fish drying before taking a boat trip out onto Tonle Sap proper and seeing a small floating village. Had lunch in a villager's house, then continued on to Beng Mealea. There were a handful of other people there but we mostly had it to ourselves on this late February day. Peace of Angkor seems to cater to photographers. My mom and sister aren't really photographers and the tour didn't revolve around photo opportunities per se. Our guide pointed out some tips or nice angles occasionally, but on the whole it was an organic experience. Very informative, and it felt like our guide knew a lot of the people we met along the way. It was a long but worthwhile day. I wouldn't plan on doing anything else the day you do this particular tour.

All our arrangements were made in advance through Peace of Angkor. Our hotel (City River Hotel) was great, with rooftop pool and bar where we unwound after looking at ancient temples all day. But the best part of our trip was our guide, Ta. He was knowledgable about all the art and history of the temples, as well as knowing the best times to go to avoid crowds. He was equally expert in photography and birding. With Ta and our excellent driver, Dad, we definately got off the beaten path. One highlight was a trip to a stilt village and floating village, and Ta arranged for us to have a meal with a family. I can't say enough good things about Ta! My traveling companion had a broken foot, and Ta arranged our trip so she would have comfortable places to sit and sketch while we hiked and climbed the temples.

Ta was the best guide I’ve ever experienced. Not only was he expert on history of the temples, but he also knew when and where to go to avoid crowds! As well as temples, we had a great time birding, and visiting floating villages.Ta is also an excellent photographer and taught me a lot about iPhone photos, and had great lighting and angle advice, but never more advice than desired. Also Ta had great restaurant suggestions. Our driver was superb, we had complete confidence in him as well! And he knew where all the cleanest bathrooms were along our routes!

I visited Siem Reap 13 years ago and knew I had to return... finally made my way back with my husband to celebrate our 10th anniversary and we booked 5 days with Peace of Angkor Tours - WHAT a FANTASTIC TIME!!! Ta and Mr. Thuy were amazing and took such great care of us from start to finish... I cannot say enough great things about them. I am a photo enthusiast but my husband has ZERO interest in photography, so my husband was a little worried about a 'photo tour,' but once I explained that they strive to get you to places at the best times of day with the fewest other tourists, my husband was in. Great communication with Den before we arrived... he personalized the tour, took out things we weren't interested in and suggested alternatives. We were able to see everything we wanted to and so much more. We visited the big tourist sites at off-times and often had sites to ourselves (we did go during the off-season, but still... tourism has really grown since I was last here) and we got to do things that you simply cannot do without an Angkor guide. Ta is a 'fixer...' he made the shots happen, especially with people. I'm not a portrait photographer, but I shot some of the best portraits in MY LIFE on this trip, all thanks to him. He gets people to relax and laugh... wonderful!! I'll attach some of my favorite shots here review to give you an idea. There were times when Ta was really paying attention to small side-comments we made and later he would surprise us with side trips that he knew we would enjoy based on those comments. He was remarkable. Finally, I want to commend our driver Mr. Thuy for his constant, attentive care. He doesn't talk much (though his English seems really good) but he always anticipated what was needed. We hired him during our days off from the Peace of Angkor tour days and he was simply wonderful, taking us around in his tuk-tuk when we wanted to go back to re-visit some temples on our own, go to see the circus and also visit the Artisans of Angkor silk farm, etc. He was always prompt, always ready for us with cold water or cold towels and always able to surprise us with a stop on the roadside so we could try crickets and silkworms (and he made sure we got the freshly made ones, not the ones cooked the day before!!) Never eat the ones cooked the day before. Thank you SO MUCH Den, Ta and Mr. Thuy for a trip we will never forget and for photos that my friends and family simply cannot believe. You guys were incredible.
