Having lived in several South East Asian countries including some 3 years in "Khmerland", I was fortunate to visit both DIWO Galleries and meet the owner Ms. Sokha Chung. I found the courtesy extended to me by this lady to be exemplary to say the least. Her knowledge of the Khmer history and culture was superb. Most professional and ethical in her representations and dealings.. Of course, some of the items/merchandise - to some - maybe "pricey"... but good unique things are well worth buying. And if I were allowed I would have also "taken" the centrepiece ~ Ms. Sokha Chung ~ if she was available...unfortunately not so!

We first visited the small gallery next to the Old Market. We loved it and decided to visit the main one. The largest gallery is lost in a village 5 minutes away from Siem Reap. Just make sure the tuk-tuk driver knows where he's going and you'll be fine. We found a large choice of superb statues, all sizes, at affordable prices. And the owner, a French photographer who has been living in Cambodia for 20 years, is a very interesting character. We spent an hour there and eventually bought two small statues. Check Thierry's website and you'll definitely want to pay him a visit.

In the old market you could find a lot of cheaper stuff but I am not sure if the quality is as good. Friendly staff, great packing, free transport in between their two galleries. Good for those who don't mind to spend a bit more for higher quality.

All templed out, me and the wife were trying to figure out what we could do in Siem Reap off the beaten path. This art gallery popped out through the Trip Advisor destination search and it led to a very well spent afternoon. Diwo Gallery is a charming tucked away residential bungalow cum art gallery. After all the tacky stuff on display in the night market, we were happy to discover some authentic local craftsmanship.

Diwo gallery seems to specialise in sculptures (statues/figurines/masks etc) and photographs. Some really cool stuff which was out of our budget range but we also found items that we wanted to and could afford to buy. Long story short, we left happy a few hundred dollars lighter with a sculpture that will be on display in our living room.

If you are into art and/or home decor items, strongly recommend that you visit this place.

This is a gallery with some Arts & Crafts that have a vintage look and more natural look to them, not the typical red/gold budhas. Very nice antique style art. Highly recommended.

My wife and I wanted some good and high quality memories from Siem Reap and the Angkor area, and after researching a little bit on the internet at home we decided to give this shop a try. It hosts a good variety of refined Khmer statues and Buddhas as well as a selection of beautiful photos made by Thierry Diwo who clearly knows how to play this art. It is conveniently located along the river, near the Old Market, between Monument Books and Ta Prohm Hotel.
This is Diwo gallery#2, a small place that gives you countless hints for great memories to bring back home. But the real highlight is Diwo gallery#1, Thierry and Sokha's (who we met and dealt with) home, located at 5/10 minutes from the center of Siem Reap, that features a great selection of wooden/stone/bronze statues of the usual characters of Khmer art that is very difficult to chose amongst. You can spend hours there ! They are not on the cheap side, but with some reasonable bargaining and smiling, you can lower down the prices a little bit, and best of all, you will be rewarded by wonderful memories of your journey.
We arranged a visit at gallery#1 on the last night of our stay at Siem Reap, we met at gallery#2, and Sokha was so gentle to bring us there with her car. Entering her house was a real surprise, it looks like a museum, and we had no pressure at all for purchasing anything. She was happy and proud as well to show us all the beauties hosted in her house. We ended up buying a wooden statue of a praying monk (very unusual compared to other typical subjects) made of teak#3 and a small (1.2kg) wooden statue of a sitting Buddha in white decor made of teak#1. We are very proud of our choice and they look magnificent on our shelves !
And last but not least when we were at the airport on our way back home, just before luggage checking, we heard a voice and, surprise surprise, it was her calling us who we met with great pleasure, leaving Siem Reap with her last goodbye in our ears ... This was a clear sign to us that Sokha (and I guess her husband too) does not manage her business as a way of selling goods, but as a way of sharing Khmer art and culture with others from the rest of the world.
Thank you so much Sokha for your warm welcome in your home, your kindness and ability to understand our needs.

The Diwo Gallery signs along the river-road help guide you to their beautifully landscaped artist retreat, just 5 minutes from the Old Market area. Statues and artwork produced by Cambodian artists are displayed alongside the stunning photographs of owner Thierry Diwo, in an open air setting that is an architectural gem.

I arrived on a scorching hot day to a welcoming staff, a glass of cold water and a tour of the gallery and grounds. There was absolutely no sales pressure, but rather a sense of pride in showcasing the compound, its artistic style and the smart collection of Cambodian art.

Diwo Gallery is a little piece of paradise in Siem Reap.

We searched around the main streets and markets of Siem Reap for a good quality buddha statue to take back to Australia. We didn't find what we wanted until our last day when we popped into the Diwo Gallery shop in the main part of town. We were taken on a tuk tuk (paid for by Diwo Gallery) to their main shop/studio about 5 minutes away.

We were met there by Thierry who provided us with a drink and talked us through the extensive range of statues for sale. He also talked to us about the background of some of the fabulous photographs that he had taken over the years and available for purchase. We bought a beautiful full size Buddha statue (see photo) which was expensive compared to what is generally available in the town but was simply far superior in quality and appearance.

Shipping was around AUD240 with DHL and arranged by Thierry. Whilst this may seem expensive we were very happy to pay this amount to get Buddha to Melbourne in one piece. Buddha arrived safe and well in about 2 weeks in an extremely well packed crate.

If you want a quality piece of art to remind you of your trip to Cambodia I would thoroughly recommend that you visit Diwo Gallery. I think you will be as impressed as we were with the range and the high standard of customer service.

Enjoyed going to this shop but their merchandise was out of my budget. A little out of the way but their signage directing you to their shop is very good.
