    An Tranquil Island of Beauty
We had as others have commented ‘templed-out’ and this island of beauty tempted us in. Noun Vichet showed us around, excellent English and a credit to Cambodia and BBC. The Butterflies exuded all their charm, and Noun explained their life cycle and the aim of the project. A must visit location. Good luck to this Enterprise and all that nurture and support it. Bravo. Beautiful butterflies and other neat stuff
This little butterfly center had beautiful butterflies, but we also saw cool frogs and even a few neat insects (and I am not usually a fan of bugs). For $6 you get a guided tour that lasts about 30 minutes. They walk you through and show you caterpillars/butterflies in different stages of development. We learned a lot. And we say lovely butterflies flitting around on some beautiful flowers. I don't think we would have visited this one all on its own, but it was a nice stop on the way back to Siem Reap from Phnom Kulen National Park. We enjoyed it.

    Beautiful Butterflies
Returning to Siem reap after visiting temples we decided to stop here and so glad we did. The young man who showed us around was very knowledgeable about the centre and his English was excellent. The butterflies were beautiful and the garden a pleasure to wander around. Well worth a visit

    Little butterfly, little butterfly...
Sorry for me (I had made a fuss about it) and even more so for them (visitors who were the only financial support for the Centre): the very heat had killed many butterflies. The visible varieties were about ten compared to even 90 Very honest guys: they told me in advance that there were few and I could not enter ...but a small donation for me, important for them The explanation and vision of the care of the different phases of the life cycle is interesting What colors are the butterflies present!!! ...also very photographable :)

    Stunning native Cambodian butterflies!
Definitely worth a visit!! If you’re looking for a trip around Siem Reap with fewer tourists, head to the butterfly centre. It’s great if you’re passionate about nature (or just want to see some beautiful native butterflies), and entry is cheap - plus you are contributing to important Cambodian wildlife conservation. It’s located close to the land mine museum and a stunning temple (we did the Angkor botanical gardens on the way back too) so you can make a full day trip out of it. Overall, a beautiful local butterfly garden in rural Cambodian countryside.

    Breathtaking!
What a gem hidden away and can be easily overlooked. After the Temple hopping, this was a surreal sanctuary as we saw the 'from caterpillar to butterfly' cycle. It was magnificent. The lovely man who was on the reception desk gave us a fantastic tour. His English was native like. The butterfly perched onto my palm, which was an awesome experience. The vibrant colours and delicate, fragile wings are just breathtaking. We spent 2 hours there although the whole tour can be done in 30 minutes... we walked around several times. An absolute must! They charge $6 for entry, which helps with the cost of running the sanctuary.

    Natural beauty up close!
Would definitely visit. Admission costs $6 and a guided tour is even included. You have the opportunity to admire all life cycles (from egg to caterpillar to butterfly ) up close and all open questions are answered. I found it fascinating and would recommend it to anyone.

We decided to visit this centre with our kids (9 and 8) after the Banteay Srey temple, and did not regret it. While 2 years of COVID-19 severely reduced the number of visitors and, as a consequence, the number of staff (call in advance to specify your time of visit to make sure you will have a guide) and butterflies' species, the kindness of the guide - who speaks excellent English - his love for butterflies and the time allowed to answer all questions compensated it.

Our children could witness the "birth" of several butterflies in the nursery room and enjoyed time in the flying butterfly area.

While not "spectacular", the place is a haven of quietness and discovery of those wonderful insects and a great, shady halt after the visit of Banteay Srey. The center and its goals (education, job creation, environment preservation) truly deserve support.

By the time of our visit, the amount of donation/fee for the visit was up to us, there was absolutely zero pressure on it and no commercial push to buy any gadget or souvenir. You can really feel the love for the job done there.

So cheap for the experience, was amazing and so wholesome! We got to hold newly born butterflies and put them on flowers which was incredible. The enclosure is large, full of various flowers and fruit for the butterflies to eat. As animal rights enthusiasts, we would highly recommend. You get a free tour too 1-1, the lady we had was so nice, friendly and knowledgable. Despite the lack of exposure on things to do in siem reap, it was extremely worthwhile and would 100% recommend to anyone who likes nature and animals! Tip - wear brightly coloured clothing as they are more likely to land on you then.

Thank you for your visit and you great review, we appreciate it very much. We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed your visit and the tour giving by one of our staff members. Thank you for sharing the Tip to other visitors since it's totally true that butterflies love bright colours like red, yellow and orange. With all the best, The BBC butterfly team

This small butterfly centre is a lovely place to stop off en-route to other sights near Siem Reap - the staff are very helpful and keen to show you around, we watched a butterfly emerge from a cocoon (magical!) and were delighted by how easy it was to see and photograph some beautiful butterflies and moths and some other insects.
Its a small place but the cost reflects that, and its helping the local community.
Please don't try and compare it to large, commercial zoos or butterfly farms, just keep in mind the country you are in and what they are trying to achieve at this small locally run initiative.

A lovely butterfly conservation centre situated not far from the Angkor Wat temples. The staff were friendly and gave us a wonderful and informative tour of the pretty garden, showing us the different life stages of the butterfly. We stayed for around 30 minutes and saw several species of butterfly. The $6 entrance fee for adults seems reasonable as it's paying for the conservation efforts.

Please go and support the work they are doing here. After two years of Covid, they are trying to re-open fully, but they need tourist support to do so. Then they can get more staff back and more farmers onboard to farm butterflies (meaning they train them about the importance of the pollinators and not using pesticides - important work). The staff here love what they do and are passionate about the butterflies. We learned about the whole life cycle and saw butterfly eggs, many pupa and butterflies. It is worthwhile stop and very near Banteay Srey. When we went, the entry fee was by donation - so please support them!

We took the opportunity of stopping here along with the landmine museum on our way back to town from Branteay Srei Temple and really glad we did. Admission is $6 per adult with a guided tour to explain everything front collecting eggs to the final release into the park. It's fascinating and well worth it. Highly recommended, and the staff are so passionate and knowledgeable.Loved it.

While you are in Siem Reap off course you are going to visit the temples, but you should definitely visit this place to give something back , to learn more about the projects mission and off course see the butterflies! It’s a brilliant cause, the staff are so passionate, I was so lucky to have a private tour by Assistant manager Noun Vichet. His sense of commitment to the project is palpable and contagious.
Thank you for a very much for a very enjoyable and educational time, I shall definitely return.

What a fabulous experience for all ages! Mr. Phem has a wealth of knowledge and loves to share it. I saw stunningly beautiful butterflies that where in the final stages of leaving their cocoons, brilliantly colored caterpillars and crystallized cocoons that looked like pieces of gold and silver jewelry. Did you know the caterpillar can use mercury from the soil and absorbed by plants to make this exquisite gold and silver looking substance?
I even had a stick insect crawl up my arm. Such gentle creatures.
The garden is a piece of paradise with beautifully colorful flora.
Nice to linger in the little Cafe for a light meal or fresh fruit juices, surrounded by such peaceful beauty.
Ideal place for those traveling with children.

Beautiful gardens and place to spend time with butterflies all around. Also interesting to learn more about the butterflies. We paid $6 each to get in and then we’re effectively given a private tour by one of the staff with excellent English

Our driver suggested that we may enjoy a trip to the butterfly centre whilst we were visiting temples in the area.
This really proved to be a very worthwhile stop and the guide was really informative, knowledgeable and interesting.
It may not be the first thing on your to do list whilst in Siem Reap but they are doing some great work and your $6 would really help.
Would heavily recommend
