Artisans Angkor is a Cambodian social business which was originally created to revive Khmer cultural heritage while helping young rural people finding work near their home village.Since its creation at the end of 1990s, Artisans Angkor has strived to provide professional skills to communities with limited educational opportunities and has offered good working conditions and social advantages to its employees. It has now opened 48 workshops in Siem Reap province and it provides employment to over 1100 people, including more than 800 artisans.Over the years, Artisans Angkor has become a real showcase of Khmer workmanship for its silk fabrics and garments, stone and wood carving, lacquer ware, polychrome products, silver plating and silk painting.

We were here an hour at least. Really good to see the locals getting involved and keeping the local craft industry going. Some reports say that this place is expensive,it's NOT.If you want cheap go to the mass markets where you DON'T know what you are buying. Put this place on your list, you won't be dissapointed.

Worth your time. A broad selection of well-made crafts and folk art. Not far from Pub Street in downtown Siem Reap. One of the best shopping experiences in Siem Reap as is the nightly Cambodian Only Craft Market in the Kings Road complex adjoining the Hard Rock Cafe.

This workshop exhibits the skills of artisans in wood calving, stone masonry, lacquered paintings and silk weaving. Upon arrival into the courtyard you are instantly accosted by a guide given a tag (not sure why, probably to entice you to purchase something)who takes you to each workshop and explains what these artist are doing, They will request a tip at... Our tour guide was informative and so friendly. Great to see the artists in action and how the pieces are made step by step. The shop was full of beautiful products and no pressure to buy at all.

Firstly, I would like to clarify that I am not a stingy person. During my 8 days stay in Siem Reap, I have given out at least US$30 in tips. The visit started with guide emphasizing that "the tour is free and tips is welcomed" and ended with the guide repeating a few times that "the tour is over". If... More

Artisans Angkor is a display series of workshops of traditional Cambodian arts and crafts, together with a shop selling some of the products. Many of the ancient crafts were nearly wiped out during the Pol Pot Regime, when more than two million Cambodian people were murdered by their own countrymen. But they are making a revival, in part due to... More

Well worth the visit to the Siem Reap workshops and store. And if you time it right you can back it on to the Free Shuttle Bus Tour out to the Silk Farm and Silk workshops. Bus is twice a day 9.30am and 1.30pm and takes about 2.1/2 hrs round trip.

If you are fed up with being hassled in the markets and want to see goods which are high quality then this is the place. You can see various artisans (cultures, wood work, jewellery, etc) at work and then finish with the large shop with a range of high quality good. But the prices aren't cheap. All artisans have come... More

Following up on the good reviews I had read, we sought out this business. We saw the students, selected from disadvantaged backgrounds who show talent, learning traditional skills supervised by a master craftsman. The goods are more expensive than the mass produced objects you can pick up at the numerous markets but we felt our purchases were worth every cent.
