We were spending a wonderfull day with our guide Nam for birdwatching and a visit to the water village. Nam is a great guide with a great knowledge of all the waterbirds on the Tonle Sap lake. After our birdwatching and a simple but very good lunch at the local Osmose restaurant we visited in the village different farms (crocodile, vegetables, fish, ....). Nam was also explaining us the environmental facts and issues around the lake and the social project of Osmose as an environmental motor around the lake but also a beautifull social project for the water village people. In one word SUPER.

This was our first trip in Cambodia and a really fun way to see the Tonle Sap lake and floating villages. We really liked the care Osmose took to explain the conservation challenges faced by the lake and the different ways the company was helping the community and ecosystem. We all enjoyed the delicious lunch and liked that they provided water in reusable bottles. The kids enjoyed trying out different types of boat transports and seeing baby crocodiles. Another highlight was watching and helping the women weave coasters from the invasive water hyacinth plants.

One comment is that many boats now operate using really loud engines (two-stroke?) that cause a lot of noise pollution for visitors and the locals. I think this could be a challenge if tourism increases and dozens of boats are going through every minute- I imagine it is not great for people's hearing (esp those of kids) or for the environment. I don't offer this as a criticism, but would love to be supportive if an alternate solution is available.

We had a fabulous 2-day family visit (4 adults) of the Angkor Area with Nan. He has a wonderful way of making the temples come alive for his patrons. We saw 6 of the major temples. Nan, in good English, explained the history of each and pointed out the illustrations of it that are encribed in their walls. He also shared folklore stories of his country and explained the religious icons we encountered. The passion he has for his job certainly shows through in everything he does. With Nan, you will have fun and enjoy every minute!
Nan and our driver ("James Bond 007") made us ultra comfortable. When we weren't touring a temple we were in an air-conditioned van. James often provided chilled facecloths that had been soaked in lemon grass water to refresh us. This is very important in the heat of the day. I have some physical issues that make it hard for me to walk. Under the circumstances, Nan was patient, helpful and took it all in stride.
Our only regret about our tour is that we only had 2 days. There is plenty to do and see in Siem Reap and this is the only way to see it!!

We had the chance to discover the Tonle Sap during 1 day with Man who is a bird lovers and could point a lot of different species to us during the bird discovery tour. Then the visit of the village makes us wonder about how people live so connected to the lake. Osmose is doing a great job their! We recommend to have lunch at Osmose floating house:). Thanks and all the best!

Fantastic day on the water, that gives you a real understanding of the importance of Tonle Sap and the Mekong to Siem Reap, Angkor Wat and the way of life in the area. Well worth the effort and time to go a little off the beaten path to visit the bird sanctuary and Prek Toal floating village. Lunch is at a specially created "cafe" by Osmose staffed by local women from the village - clean and delicious. Our guide was knowledgeable and easy to talk to with, which made for a fun and interesting day! Highly recommend!

P.S. I found the booking process a bit flaky and slow, but don't let that deter you!

A lovely tour of Prek Toal Floating Village and Bird Sanctuary.

We departed from Chong Kneas Port and traveled about 1.5 hours by boat to the village. When we arrived we visited some of their facilities and then boarded a different boat to see the bird sanctuary. This boat ride lasted approximately 2 hours. We were able to see so much wildlife that can’t be spotted elsewhere.

Afterwards, we had a lovely meal at their floating restaurant and visited their hyacinth workshop. We then made the 1.5 hour journey back to Chong Kneas Port.

The guide and Osmose team were very kind, informational, and passionate. I learned a lot about life in the village and how they are helping to improve livelihoods for nearly 25 years.

If you have a full day and don’t mind the distance it’s definitely worth a visit to Prek Toal with Osmose. If you have a short time frame it is probably best to visit a Siem Reap based floating village.

We went on a 2 days trip on Tonle Sap with Osmose. Very exiting and authentic. We spend the night with a local family in their floating house. Our english speaking guide was very good and very helpfull. A great experience for both adults and children. Very noicy speedboats - remember to bring earplugs!

We had such an incredible day with Mr Chang and the Osmose company. This adventure on Tonle Sap was unforgettable. Mr Chang was a wealth of knowledge about the environment, the people of the village, and Cambodia as a whole. Truly incredible day! Mr Chang, youre a legend!

Hello We are very happy to hear that you were satisfied with your visit with us. More than that we would like to thank you very much for taking part in our Ecotour to the Tonle Sap Lake and sharing feedback to people who have just planing their visit to Siem Reap. More than just an ecotourism tour, your participation contributed to Osmose’s action for preserving the environment and by supporting the poorest floating communities of the Tonle Sap by - Directly supporting the village economy (paddlers, village tour, cookers, homestays, handicraft), - Providing funds to Osmose environmental education program (provide Environmental classes to covering 900 children in the floating village to better understand the impact the Tonle sap lake environment). At least but not last, May 2020 bring you health, love, prosperity, and success in your business.

Excellent day tour of bird reserve and village. Lake absolutely teeming with different species of birds. Our knowledgeable guide was a great help. On the lake, it’s not as hot as you’d expect. The ecology is fascinating as are the floating villages.

I have been in Cambodia for three months studying abroad. Our program took us to the Tonle Sap through Osmose and it was an incredible time. My family came to visit me in December and I had to take them out. It was an even more amazing experience the second time. This is the best way to see beautiful ecology, and experience Cambodian culture if traveling in Cambodia.
