My family and I did the 2-D Angkor Wat tour but without the sunrise. Bunleat was our tour guide and we had a great time with him. I’m one of those people that like to do things on my own time and so I usually don’t do tours, but I’m glad I did. Bunleat was a fountain of information and you can tell that he loves what he does. He shows you the smallest details that you wouldn’t notice on your own and he ties the information from the different temples together to give you a deeper understanding of his country’s history. He also can tell you how some of the temples are similar to the ones in other countries. I learned so much in two days. Bunleat is punctual and patient. Two of the great qualities you need as a tour guide. I never felt rushed or as if we asked too many questions. He also takes the best pictures so you have some beautiful pictures to look back on. The picture I posted is not one of his. You have to book him and get your own! Lol

Cambodia though poor has soo much to offer. The people are very friendly. Our visit to Angkor Wat was really an amazing experience. Never have I seen such grandeur in the temples unearthed from under huge trees.

My brother, his daughter, my son and myself recently visited Cambodia's Angkor Wat temple complex and surrounding temples. We had the good fortune of having San Park recommended to us and I can't say enough good things about this man. He was extremely informative about all of the sites we visited. He catered to our every need and was flexible in his schedule, accommodating to our particular interests and places we wanted to visit. We truly appreciated his driver, his air conditioned van, and his recommendations for eateries. San Park also put us in contact with an orphanage that would accept the medicinal supplies we wanted to donate.

Above all else, San Park's sense of humor made this a trip of a lifetime. We all shared many laughs during our brief time together. We still miss him, but he, his wife and kids are still in our hearts. Please consider using his services for your tour of the Siem Reap area; he will not let you down. Contact info: {--}

My parents (in their 60s) and me went to Preah Vihear, Bantrey Srei and Beng Mealea on Aug 22-23 with San Park as our guide.

Originally I was concerned if the trip to Preah Vihear would be too long and difficult for my parents, but San Park took care of us so the ride was made much easier than it otherwise had to be. On the way he told us a lot about the places, Khmer culture, the local economy, and the landmine clearing effort. He also took us to good and reasonably priced local restaurant for lunch. No tourist traps. My mum said she can tell that San Park likes his job, because he really enjoys showing us his culture, and he is a sincere man. We were so impressed we asked if he could show us more places the day after, and we were lucky.

San Park told us that his schedule is flexible, and he kept his word. Although I really owe him an apology for that: On our way back from Preah Vihear I really wanted to stop by Anlong Veng to see Polpot's cremation site and the remaining marks of the Khmer Rouge. At the end I totally forgot the time, and it meant they had to drive back to Siem Reap in the dark. With no street light nor reflector on the "highway" it was really difficult. Good that we hired the most professional team and they managed to take us back to hotel safely. I am sorry that because he wanted to concentrate on driving (he and the driver switched hand), he missed many phone calls from home on his way back to town. (Sorry Mrs. San Park)

I can honestly tell you that Park's service exceeded my expectation by a wide margin. He's a great guy and we are glad that he had him as our guide.

We are 2 young girls in our early 20's & after doing a bit of research around how best to tour Angkor Wat we decided to go with Bunleat after such fantastic reviews on trip advisor. Bunleat was very accommodating as we organised the tour very last minute & had a jam packed day of Angkor touring planned for us.

We had a pleasant time with Bunleat and he was able to get us may great photos of the Angkor temples. However we felt the tour was a bit slow moving for us and did not meet our needs. If you are after comprehensive accounts of the finer details and histories behind the temples than Bunleat is your man! He is very smart and takes much pride in the temples and the stories behind them and strives to share this with the visitors.

Bunleat was accommodating in amending the original plans from a 12hr day of touring to 6hrs which was more than enough for us.

In hindsight possibly not the best tour option for us however would suit those with different needs.

Dear Everyone, Thanks for choosing Happy Angkor Wat Tour. Thanks for your time on this review about your experience with us. We hope that you will come back to have another tour with us again. We would like to share some ideas about this. 1. We would like to let everyone know that we work only 8 hours per day here. We will charge extra for sunrise. Normal tour ( 6:50 am- 2 or 3 pm) and to start at sunrise tour ( 4:45 am- 2 or 3 pm). We give you the price and time before hand. 2. If you have only one day, please don't go for sunrise as it's not a good choice. Especially if you wish to stay late at night enjoying your party. 3. You need to know about jet lag. You should do sunrise if you cannot adjust your sleeping time. 4. We suggest you to go to temples by yourselves with a driver if you don't want to learn about history. We hope that you can give us a good judgments about this review. We would like to welcome any feedback so that we will improve our work. Sokun.

One of the things we liked best about our visit to the Angkor area in Cambodia was our tour guide Mr. Yous Sopanha. Mr. Sopanha was an absolutely wonderful guide during our recent two day tours of the Angkor area and its' temples. He holds a degree in history from Phnom Penh University and really brings the ruins to life. He also has a very compelling personal story, having survived the Khmer Rouge era in Cambodia.

Mr. Sopanha ensured that our group was informed, entertained, and hydrated, an important feature in the Cambodian heat. We toured Banteay Srei, Ta Prohm, Angkor Thom, Bayon and Angkor Wat as well as taking a boat trip to visit a floating village near Tonle Sap Lake. He also took us to visit the landmine museum in Siem Reap where I was moved to tears, realizing the horrific effects these devices have had on the local population.

Mr Sopanha will take care of you very well on your tours of the area and is also available for tours of other parts of Cambodia, i.e. Phnom Penh. We were only there for a couple of days but when we go back will be sure to book Mr. Sopanha as our guide.

When touring Angkor area temples, wear comfortable walking shoes, women should have clothing covering your knees and shoulders if you plan to climb the high temple at Angkor Wat, cameras, a bandana or small towel to wet and cool yourself comes in handy too.

Please contact Mr. Sopanha on Facebook if you wish to book his services.

My cousin and I were contemplating whether to take a guided tour or to hire a tuktuk and just roam the temple grounds on our own. Fortunately enough, we came across the Happy Angkor Wat Tour website and decided to book with them. Not once did we regret doing so and definitely got more than what we paid for.

A couple of my friends who have been to Siem Reap before didn't fall in love with the city like (my cousin and) I did and don't see themselves going back to Cambodia. So I believe the very reason we had such a great time on this trip was because of Veasna, the best tour guide a traveller to Cambodia could ever ask for. I hope those who come across this post do not make the mistake of not booking with Happy Angkor Wat Tour. Happy travels!

This is simply amazing! I am so glad we researched on Trip Advisor beforehand and chose Bunleat (we call him Bun) as our tour guide. Without him, all of the stories, history, culture and religion would be lost on us! He was so full of knowledge and easy to understand. He also customized our tour for us - I emailed him ahead of time and told him the things I wanted to hit, and he customized the day for us - took his time and spent all day from morning until dark with us. He seemed much more knowledgeable than many of the other hundreds of tour guides around us all day as well, and I didn't feel like he was trying to sell us anything (unlike some of our other tour guides throughout the trip) and he was just an honest guy that we count as a friend now - literally, we are friends with him on Facebook! HIGHLY recommended - he made our tour of Angkor Wat and experience I will never forget. I thought he had his own revew on TripAdvisor, but I can't find it now, so this is his site that I used to contact him: http://www.tourangkorwat.com/

We stayed with 4 persons for 3 days in Siem Reap (flying from Ho Chi Minh City) just to explore and enjoy the ancient Angkor temples.
Before visiting the temples we were wondering whether we had better make use of a personal guide instead of only reading our travel guide (Capitol) while walking through the temple complexes.
Quite soon we decided to hire a personal guide as we believed this would add far more value in understanding the complete story & backgrounds of various temples of Angkor. So we searched on the internet in our hotel for a good guide and noticed the nice website of mister Nak. We called him on the same evening that we arrived in Siem Reap and agreed with him to have a 3 day guided tour.

He arranged the complete transport (car with AC!) so actually he was our private driver and guide simultaneously! He also took care of plenty of bottled water as this is really necessary when walking outside in 38 degrees Celsius!
Mister Nak is a very reliable guide as he was always on time at our hotel to pick us up and to bring us back to the hotel. We really appreciated his commitment!
We also liked the way he told us about the interesting background of the different stories regarding each temple complex. Additionally he also knew exactly how to avoid the crowdy spots by following his own sequence of visiting the temples. Doing so we didn't get caught in the mass of tourists!

We noticed that Mister Nak is also very handy with photography as he knew the right spots to shoot pictures. So he frequently advised us about the best locations to take pictures and additionally he shot many beautiful pictures for us. Never seen a guide making such (professional) photos! Simply great!

After 3 nice days on tour with Mister Nak we had to say goodbye to him. During our stay in Siem Reap he arranged bus tickets for us to Phnom Penh which we appreciated.
We experienced that Nak is not just a tour guide as he arranged much more for us, i.e.. transport/ tickets/ photography etc.

We really enjoyed our guided tour with him while staying in Siem Reap. So if you are coming to Siem Reap and would like to have a professional personal guide I would definitely recommend Mister Nak!

Thanks again Nak!!

Cheers.

We went with Mr Sokdat or "Dat" and to be honest we would have had an amazing day with him if we didn't drive past one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen.

The sky was pink with streaks of deep red and purple as we drove past Angkor Wat. It was literally what you would see if you googled Sunset at Angkor Wat.

We asked to stop the van earlier but was told that this would be difficult. As we passed the scene and remarked how beautiful it was we were told the gates were shut. We knew it would have been less than a minute walk for us if we stopped at the parking lot by the gates as we tried to catch a similar sunset the day before.

It is a shame that this really marred what was otherwise an incredible day with a professional, knowledgable guide, who was also impressive with his experience of where to take scenic pictures and how to avoid the crowds.

It would have been the most perfect experience of this world heritage site if we weren't robbed of the chance of enjoying a jaw dropping sunset there. Unfortunately, we may never get this chance again.

Dear Rowan McCarthy, I would like to say thanks for choosing our service for your trip here. This is to support our tour guides. We are not a tour agency and we work as a team of English-speaking tour guides here. Our profit is to support our family and help the poor in this country. Please look at my facebook: Bunleat. You can see our work with FOCO Cambodia orphanage and blind people here. It took me a few days to investigate the case. I feel this was unfair to us, especially for Mr. Sokdat. Firstly, you made a last minute booking and we tried to arrange this trip for your group even though Mr. Sokdat was on holiday, but he decided to take your group with our request. Secondly, you didn't book us with sunset tour. Next, the tour guide already informed you that you could not enter Angkor Wat after 5:30 pm. This is the law and it's on the back of your ticket . You were inside the temple, you were allowed to stay till sunset at some temples. However, by sunset time, it was close to 6 pm already. You couldn't enter the temple any more. Mr. Sokdat spent his whole day with you walking, climbing and answering to your questions and stopped at the south gate of Angkor Thom for your sunset photo as well ( But you never mentioned this a good point). He didn't stop the van cos he thought that you couldn't enter the temple. He worked all days long with your group. You did mention that he was a great tour guide and did excellent work too. However, you gave him two stars ( Negative review) which made him feel ashamed. I cannot find justice about this for him. I e-mailed TA management about this case, but they couldn't help us. I would like to inform all tourists about this case and before making a booking with us, please study about us first. We work for you for 9 hours and please respect our working time. If you wish to see sunrise or sunset, you need to inform us in advance. Please don't treat us like this. We are human-being and we have equal right. It doesn't mean that we are in Cambodia and you can do whatever you want to us. We believe in Karma ( action), Bad Karma will lead to bad life and misfortune. If you can't help other people to be better in their life, please don't make it worse. Bunleat.
