We had a great experience with Ms Sokvy and her family. She made some delicious local dishes and we were able to join in the cooking. Her family was very welcoming and it’s very convenient that her husband is also a tuk tuk driver who can pick you up for a small extra fee. Would definitely do this again.

I had a lovely experience and would recommend everyone to try Dine With The Locals for authentic local experience. Ms Dary helped me when I got lost trying to find her home, we picked fresh herbs from her garden to use in the cooking, she took me round to visit the neighbour pig too. A local man drove past and she purchased palm sugar juice & wine for me to try. We cooked some delicious dishes enjoyed these together and I was able to ask questions to develop more understanding of Cambodian life. We then finished the day by making things out of palm leaves which we had a lot of fun together 😊 thank you again Ms Dary

Make time for this experience. Such a wonderful way to share in local food, culture, and community. Our family (2 adults, 2 kids) all agreed our lunch with Ms. Dary and her family was a highlight of our time in Siem Reap. From meeting neighbors, collecting herbs, preparing food, cooking, sharing a meal, and making palm craft- it just got better and better. Food was SO GOOD!! Far better than a restaurant meal. You will not regret this experience.

Dara and his pal Kee-May picked us up in individual tuk tuks, rode east on the main road til we turned down a long dirt road and pulled into a modest but very comfortable wooden home where Neu Thai greeted us with cold jasmine tea, then we gathered on the livingroom floor mat and began our chopping and vegetable prep. Learned about a small leafy plant grown from a tree called "mah-rom" which we picked and chopped for the sweet omelette. Dara and his daughter were happy to show me all the edible plants on their property, including a small tree growing little sour fruits called talungtung, which were crunchy and puckery and absolutely amazing! We cooked a simple but delicious fish soup called Somlar Proha, and fried fish with ginger and fermented soybeans, and an omelette made with the plant from her yard. We all ate too much because it was so damn wonderful, then we talked quite a while with Dara about life and his memories of the Khmer Rouge. Nue Thai gave us all our own scarfs ("kroh-mah") and we set back off for home. This was a really meaningful, intimate experience and I cannot recommend it more highly. If you believe that travel is about broadening your perspective and meeting special people, this is the ticket.

A really great instantly welcoming experience with Mrs. Dary. meeting the neighbours living traditionally with thier animals including a buffalo and its calf, picking herbs and preparing tradotional base for the flavors and mincing the pork were all highlights. Making woven items made from the palm fronds and how they are prepared for weaving was a verry fun surprise!
I reneged on my veteran preference due to the pork preparation interest. But Mrs. Dary. also refreshingly offeres great vegetarian options. I would do it again to see that too. I guess I'm still in transition phase.😆

If you are planning a trip to Siem Reap, do not miss a chance to cook with Ms. Dary. Our family of four was welcomed into her home upon setting foot at her front door. She made us feel like we were long-lost friends who had come to share a meal together. She spent time welcoming us and then we were off to gather fresh ingredients from her yard for our meal. She had planned an elaborate, several course meal and all of us were able to help prepare and cook the food. This was some of the best food we ate during our entire trip. After filling our bellies, Ms. Dary shared some simple palm leaf crafting with us. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and highly recommend this wonderful experience. You won't regret it! I should also mention, that I am a picky eater and they went out of their way to accommodate me. We can't wait to make some of these dishes when we get home! Thank you, Ms. Dary and family.

Great experience with host NueThai in Siem Reap. The pick-up from hotel was perfect and also the booking procedure is very easy.
We helped them prepare the food (cut vegetables, mashing herbs, etc) and also cook them. We choose host Nue Thai in order to see real life of most local people and not in a modern house. The cooked food was very delicious. We also speak together, made several questions about their life in Cambodia. It is a very good experience and we didn’t have any stomach problems!! We can only recommend it.

We made a beautiful Cambodian dinner in Dary’s home last night. My husband is a vegetarian and Dary happily accommodated him by using tofu, mushrooms and soy sauce instead of meat and fish products. We picked some of the ingredients from her garden. We all ate together, Dary, her wonderful husband, and their two sweet sons. We had very interesting discussions and it felt like we made new friends. After dinner, Dary showed us fun and interesting things you can make from palm leaves. We would recommend Dary wholeheartedly.

This was a highlight of our time in Cambodia. Not only is it a nice way to help prepare and then eat a meal with a family in their home, but it also supports Khmer women with their financial needs. We paid Ms Dary directly, so we know where our money went.
Ms Dary was as gracious and friendly as we could hope. We were able to pick some greens from her garden before chopping and cooking together. Then we feasted on the delicious meal on their floor mat, Khmer style. There was a table with stools if needed, but we preferred the floor.
I’ve learned that it’s worth confirming the end time of tours and experiences here. We had to be somewhere else that evening so didn’t end up having time to make the palm leaf toys. I was sad about that.
I highly recommend this experience. It’s meaningful on many levels.
