We have keep all the teachers starting 10 years before with this class. 3 times a day {10am, 1pm and 5pm} we propose to discover the khmer kitchen . You have the choice between 6 starters, 6 main courses and 4 desserts but also between 2 vegetarian menus. As options, we have gluten free or dairy free options.

It was a very good experience in Siem Reap, highly recommended. Saroun, the teacher is very nice and lot of fun. Her instructions about what to do and when to do were very clear and we could easily follow. She also shared interesting things about ingredients we used.

My boyfriend and I had a great night! Our lovely teacher Channy gave us a tour of the food market and taught us to cook three delicious Cambodian meals. You’re free to chose which meals you like and afterwards you get to enjoy them. Really recommend this cooking class for a fun and delicious night out!

I had booked a cooking class last minute for the next morning for my boyfriend and me, which was no problem. The free pick up was perfectly on time and when he brought us to the restaurant, we were lovely greeted by Philippe the owner. After choosing our 3 course menu, the chef who teached us that day took us to the market. It was nice seeing a lot of different ingredients and the chef gave us some more information while showing us around. The cooking class itself was very fun and because it was just us 2, there was plenty of time to put all the attention on the cooking. We also got to have a little chat with Philippes kind wife, who told us a bit of her past cooking career before taking over the restaurant.
When we've finished cooking all the dishes we sat down and ate it all. Everything was delicious and there was no rush.
The only thing I'd like to mention, it would've been nice if there was at least one drink included when eating all the delicious food. Other than that we had a great morning and experience and would like to thank everyone for sharing your passion and knowledge!

For this cooking class we were picked up from our hotel as a one way pick up included in the price. On arrival we were given menus and picked the three dishes we wanted to make, 1 starter, 1 main and 1 dessert. We then were taken to the market where Sauroun who pointed out various fruits and produce. We actually felt this was a total waste of time as you are not actually shopping for anything for the class. We then went upstairs to the kitchen and started to prep the ingredients. Concerned that the chef felt it was ok to chop meat and fish on the same chopping board. I actually flipped the board over.
Unfortunately it was far too hot for my husband and he gave up. I cooked the rest of the items with the chef. Another issue I have with is the chef tested the food and uses the same spoon again. After the dishes had been finished we moved downstairs to eat them. We left loads as you don’t really feel like eating after being so hot. We also asked for water in the class and another bottle when we were eating the food. Beware it has to be the most expensive water I have seen in Cambodia!!!!$2.50 a bottle which actually sells for $.80 in the supermarket. This should be included in the cost as you cannot safely cook in a kitchen that is that hot without water. For that reason and the hygiene issues I could not recommend this course to anyone.

I've done a number of cooking classes around the world (including several in southeast Asia) and this was the lowest price I've paid, but there are things that can be improved without costing them anything, mostly the teaching style.
(I should note that between when I signed up for the class and when I attended it, there was a $4 price hike. They honored the original price which I appreciated and found very honest.) Had I paid the new price I would have been REALLY disappointed, there are other options just a dollar or two more than the current cost.
I'll start with the good. The food I ate at the end was delicious. No complaints there, though the Amok definitely wasn't traditional -- we never steamed it. The staff were friendly, smiling, and speaking to us.
The not so good...the tuktuk to pick me up was almost 30 minutes late. When I got in, I discovered I could've walked in 5 minutes instead of standing around waiting. I guess that's on me for not looking more into exactly where the address was, but then again, I didn't know they'd be so late...When we arrived it was hot, and there was no welcome drink, which seems ubiquitous anywhere you go in southeast asia from hostels to classes/tours. Honestly I don't need anything fancy, but a glass of cold water would've been nice and not a huge expense. Our teacher introduced the market tour by saying that Chinese New Year was coming up and the market was probably too crowded..It seemed like she was trying to get out of it. We said we were good with crowds, so off we set. The market was significantly less crowded then it had been when I went on my own a couple days earlier. We walked through, and she told us to let us know if we had any questions. She offered maybe one explanation, and had one of the other participants hold her basket for her...not that it really got used. Even when answering questions, she was super soft spoken and hard to hear/understand.
We came back to start the cooking process, and the rooftop kitchen is hot. I get that, it's Cambodia, fine. Again, a pitcher of drinking water here would've made a huge difference in the experience. There was one chair in the room, so no sitting down if someone else was in it. Everyone was able to pick their own (different) menu, which is nice, but can be handled a lot better than it was. The teacher seemed unable to multi-task, so I'd say I spent 85% of my time there with nothing to do, waiting for someone else to receive their instruction. She'd come over to me, tell me to chop things, chop half of them to "show me" as I was insisting that I could do it! and then would give me ten minutes to chop half a carrot...ie why I had so much downtime.
There were also a number of components they made for us. A dressing went on my banana blossom salad, but I didn't know what was in it, and ingredients aren't listed on the website where they told us to go for recipes.
The rice ball dessert I made was served to me with a delicious dipping sauce I didn't make, which frankly, provided all the flavor in the dish. There's no recipe on the website for that either. Additionally, I was given a full bowl of mix to make the rice ball dessert. I used it all (since I had to kill time somehow) but then was told it would be too much, so she only cooked half of the dumplings I made for me. (Again, I didn't cook, but also --- why couldn't I have all the food I prepped?" The spare just went into the trash
So yes, the food was good, but I didn't leave feeling like I'd actually made it or could make it. I never saw/touched half the ingredients. The recipes are incomplete on the website where we were told to find them (and the vegetarian versions which I made aren't on the website at all, not even as notes on the meat versions)
With the new, higher, price, for a couple dollars more you've got a lot of choices in Siem Reap and I'd say if you really want to take away skills from this experience, go elsewhere.

in the back of certificate you have this adress so it was more short to ask us
<thanks again for your positives considerations. we will try to made our best to increase the quality of our lesson.

We spent a fun morning preparing and cooking some classic KHMER dishes followed by eating our creations in the downstairs restaurant. Teacher was helpful and recipes are supplied. One of the great things was we got to choose our menu. Meals were huge. Recommended break from temples.

Booked the class for my entire family (6 of us, including parents & grandparents) and we had so much fun! Each of us were allowed to choose a different starter and main from the menu - there were many options to choose from so we had a wide spread at the end. Class is very manageable for beginners - my grandad has never cooked his entire life but even he could do it! Food at the end was delicious too which was a bonus.
The booking experience was good - Philippe is extremely prompt in replying all the emails. Our chef on the day was also really patient and fun. Fully recommend if you’re looking for a family activity.

We booked that activity at the very last minute. We got an answer quickly and were picked up right on time. FYI, it is a one way transpo.
My girlfriend and I picked our 3 items each to cook and then went to the market. You do not pick the items you will need for the cooking class, but you get to go around the market and asked all the questions about everything you see to a chef, which we appreciated. We bought some pouders to allow us to reproduce our meals with less sweat.
For the cooking, all the ingredients are ready, what's left is the chopping, prepping and cooking. We had a lot of fun with chef Saroun. Showed us some tips and we enjoyed everything. We had ordered a beer before and had our water bottles already, so we were all set up for a great cooking session. We cooked so much food that we couldn't finish our meal after, they were nice enough to pack our leftover so we could eat them later at our hotel.
Thank you chef Saroun!
