it's a shame this place is not good well protected and aconditioned by the local authorities. it was very hard to get here but once there you can really feel the history and mystery of this place. im glad to have visited a prehistoric paints of more than 1000 years old.

The value of this caverns with pre-historic paintings, can´t be even calculated. It is ashamed that local, regional and national authorities don´t do a thing to keep them in good shape.... not even easily accessible to tourist. Somebody should start a campaign to motivate authorities to do something about it.…

Like the hike very much, between the cactus and birds.The cave has a lot of nice paintings and also bats! The climb at the end can be a bit tough, especially when it is hot wheater. Take enough water with you.

The only thing Mataral has to offer is the cave paintings. You can get a guide to see them or just find them on your own. I found them on my own by asking around. Takes about an hour and a half to get to the cave from the town. Nice quiet hike. Interesting scenery, giant cacti. The cave itself is small but you can clearly see the paintings all around it. If you are in the area and like hiking, go for it. I wouldn't recommend hanging around the town for more then one day, though.…
