We were looking for a half day activity while camping in the area and decided to hike Mt. Major. Trails were very busy, lots of hikers, good portion with dogs. Overall hike was easy/moderate. Few areas we needed to scramble. View from the peak is...More

Was expecting an easy hike on a hot day but found ourselves navigating what seems like a dried up brook full of rocks most of the way. It does get steeper climbing the ledges the last 20 minutes or so but worth the trip. Took...More

My wife and I hiked Mt. Major with two of our granddaughters, ages 5 and 7. It was not easy but was doable. The views from the top of Lake Winnipesauke and other mountains are amazing and make the hike well worth it. If you...More

A friend recommended this and scoped out the three trails: blue, yellow, and orange. We decided to take the blue trail up. It's steep, rockier, and the most challenging. It's also the shortest. With a couple of water breaks and one break near summit to...More

We hike the mountain every year. Great views relatively easy hike if you are used to rocks. My son asked his girlfriend to marry him at the top. Great place to say I Do!

Really this is a minor mountain, hiked in 45 minutes by most. It's not all that well marked -- take note of your route, especially on the rocky top. The trails are quite eroded and if you go on a summer or fall weekend you...More

I had read a bunch of reviews of Mt. Major before going and a lot of them made a comment that it's an "easy hike" for all skill levels... well I can assure you there isn't anything easy about it. I'm not in terrible shape...More

This hike has a lot to offer. Great views at the top And several ways to get there. If you take the blue to yellow trail it's an easy hike. If you stay on blue then near the top it becomes a challenging hike. Your...More

Amazing hike to Mount Major. The view is stunning. I have done this hike ( differ recently trails) 9 times this year. A couple time I brought my grandson (5 years old) and he loved it. Was ready for harder hikes. Best advise...take your time,...More

Went with family and the dogs. My first climb of a mountain. Kids have done it before. Found it challenging but not that hard. There are different trails you can take to go around the steep parts. Not for the lazy though. The dogs loved...More

When you are in the parking lot and facing the trailheads, take the trail on the LEFT. I went to the right and experienced quite a bit of moderately steep ledge near the summit so I think that you are better off going left... More
