What is not to like. Sweet Reads is exactly what its name implies, the sweetest reads in Minnesota.

For me, a place like this is all about ambiance and attitude and Sweet Reads has plenty of that and more to spare.

Lisa, the owner, is an Austin gem and you can't have what the store has to offer without having the personality of its owner. Ask her about how she started the store and sit back to hear a wonderful tale.

Sweet Reads also features Minnesota authors and if you are trying to get noticed as a writer, you might want to take your first book to her.

Lots of books, not well organized, but who cares. Finding what you are looking for is part of the experience...and you have tons of places to look. Go there and have fun.

This little bookstore is located across from the Spam Museum. The lady behind the counter was very friendly, pointing out a bunch of candies that are locally made. A bunch of books on Minnesota were available. Good for a quick visit.

Something for everyone. Books, candy, ice cream treats, Austin and Minnesota memorabilia. The store is sectioned into interesting genre-specific areas, like all the history and travel books located inside the steam locomotive! Your trip to Austin isn't complete without a stop at Sweet Reads.

We stopped in to Sweet Reads after visiting the Spam museum across the street.

They have a mix of new and used books, and a small selection of candy. Lots of interesting stuff.

Meandered in here after visiting the Spam Museum across the street and what a treat!

They have the world's largest collection of Berenstain Bears memorabilia which is super cool.

They have vintage candies and an interesting selection of books.

But what really makes this are the people...some of the nicest folks we encountered. Super friendly and really made us feel at home!

Worth the time to look around. Very friendly staff and good selection of new and used books. They have the largest Berenstain Bears Collection in a small museum area in the rear of the store and old fashioned candy and treats as well.

Right across from the Spam Museum. I could spend hours looking at all the books, both old and new. They even had fresh cotton candy! So much better than at the fair. Now a new favorite place for my children and me to get a treat.

I loved my visit to this wonderful book store in downtown Austin. It has a great selection of new (and used!) books to choose from at affordable prices. Even if you aren't into books, they have an array of delicious sweet treats to chose from! It is in a great location--right next to the new Spam museum and walking distance to restaurants. The owner, Lisa, was very fun and friendly. I enjoyed chatting with her for quite awhile. I'll definitely be coming back to Sweet Reads when I return to Austin!!
