Great place to spend a few hours. Most impressive are the bonsai trees! Also, gardens of this caliber usually charge-free here!

My grandkids loved the Botanical Gardens. (I also found the varieties of plants so interesting and beautiful, but I didn't know that they would be so interested.) They got backpacks with activities and searches and enjoyed the different plants and making a house with the big sticks available in one area. We had a picnic lunch and they could have... More

Absolutely gorgeous, huge garden with lots of different plants and things to do. There are lots of things for kids to and a wonderful shop. There's soda for sale for those extra hot days and even plants! There's so much to see there that it could even be a two day trip.

In this city with so many wonderful nooks and crannies to wander in, the Matthaei Botanical gardens is a must visit for anyone into plants and flowers ... Or even if you are not. It's lovely.

Beautiful gardens that you can stroll through. There is also a consevatory with unique botanicals. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. There is a small but unique giftshop. No entrance fees.

We were surprised that the trails at this highly rated Ann Arbor attraction were nothing more than ten foot wide dirt roads planted with grass. These trails meander through overgrown fields and scrub forest and around a sad looking pond. Neither natural beauty nor orderly landscape to make the 1.4 mile loop worth walking. The outdoor gardens offered a good... More

It has been a long time since we visited this place but it has always been a favorite of ours. We have been here many times in the past and it was usually a place we visited before every summer vacation. The trails are relaxing and serene and you can take your time to explore and wander. On a couple... More

I was looking for the garden and went to the arbatorium first. but they are only minutes away from each other. I wanted to see the peony garden and it was impressively large but unfortunately had just started to bloom, another week and it would have been glorious. The garden was part of a huge park with hiking trails and... More

This is a great place to bring visitors to Ann Arbor, who want to get away from the bar and shopping scene. This place has great botanicals, displayed in a very interesting and attractive way, and great trails.

Well worth the visit. The Matthaei Botanical Gardens are very interesting. Free to enter but you do pay to park the car ($5 max per day.) Good variety of tropical plants to look at in the hot house as well as lots outside too including some bonsai trees on display. Good shop with cold drinks available. Ideal on a hot... More
