Considering Alpena is a small town, this museum is full of interesting exhibits, and all the museum pieces are wonderfully displayed. The historical parts are wonderful showing how the Indians lived as well as how the early pioneers colonized the area.

Wasn’t sure what to expect but this museum is a real gem. There were a variety of exhibits and they have an incredible collection of Native American artifacts and tools from the Great Lakes area. The planetarium show was wonderful. All the staff were friendly...More

This is a nice little history museum. Definitely not hands-on (parents with little ones, be warned... lots they’ll want to touch but they can’t touch much). There’s a big pile of rocks outside to look for fossils, and my tweens loved that.

We learned so much about the history of that area, including the fact that it was inhabited 10,000 years ago.

What a very interesting museum. With a fishing history, to old stone work and animals. Some very neat Indian needle work.

One of our favorite museums. One area of exhibits changes on a regular basis so it’s always something new to see. We love the inside town with old stores and shops.
