I can’t believe I’ve lived in Michigan my whole life and not done this! Cheap price for a fun 2-2 1/2 experience. Funny, informative guides who answered any questions. But also didn’t talk so much that it was annoying.
Shipwrecks were easy to see. And so beautiful.
If you are in Alpena during the summer time, it’s a must do.
Covid update: they require masks and it was easy to keep distance for others with the decreased capacity.

This was quite a memorable trip! My Husband, his parents, and I went on the Wednesday afternoon tour. The day was beautiful we saw some amazing wrecks in the lake. The crew worked hard to make it fun. There were new trainees on the Lady Michigan ship, and they were phenomenal. When we were looking to return to the dock, Mother Nature had other plans for us, and our 2-hour trip ended up being 3.5 hours. The drawbridge in Thunderbay River in Alpena decided not to want to lift when we were coming back. As we sat there waiting the crew worked quickly with their manager to try and figure out a solution. After about 30 minutes, the captain returned to the lake until they figured out how to get us off the ship. During this time there was a large thunderstorm working its way over Alpena. Just when the captain was about to turn around, as the Bridge was opening again, a bolt of lightning struck Alpena (it looked like it was on the bridge) and knocked the power out of the northern half of the city taking the draw bridge with it. The crew worked hard to figure out the next steps and ultimately, we ended up docking in the Marine by the fuel dock, the crew helped everyone get off of the Lady Michigan and shuttled us back to our vehicles. Overall, it was a trip my family will never forget, with a crew that did an amazing job, a great sense of humor, and the ability to put their skills and training to work efficiently.

The crew of the ship was amazing. The views were fantastic. Trust me when I say you do not want to miss this tour. It is so amazing being able to see one hundred-year-old shipwrecks at the bottom of Lake Huron. Thank you for an amazing tour. (The Student Driver).

This tour is billed as an opportunity to see old ship wrecks in Lake Huron thru a glass bottom boat. It was a total disappointment. We saw only 2 shipwrecks and they were just a bunch of wooden boards. There was nothing discernible that resembled a boat. And the guide rambled on incessantly about outlandish stories I think he made up which really took away from an otherwise peaceful boat ride.

I went on this tour yesterday and was beyond disappointed. The sound system didn’t work, couldn’t hear any of the history about Thunder Bay. To make it worse, we were in the boat for almost three hours and only saw two shipwrecks the whole time. Thunder Bay has 160 known wrecks. We saw two in three hours! Lastly, the young man trying to be the tour guide was a power hungry fool. Horrible experience, waste of time and waste of money! Everyone on the boat was playing on their cell phones.

Here's what you need to know:
You don't have to worry about being "first in line" to get the best spot for viewing the wrecks. They have people trade places and the ship moves over the wreck(s) multiple times.
The weather and clarity of the water determines which wreck the captain chooses to show. We spent much of our ride driving out to one that was farther from the port.
The audio in the bottom of the boat (at least the one that we were in) was not high quality and it probably would have been easier to hear the commentary on the upper deck.
Depending upon your camera, the images of the ship remains may or may not be clear because of the color of the water. However, you certainly should be able to see them when the boat is maneuvering over the wrecks at the site.

I had excellent day viewing shipwrecks. It was a beautiful day. The ship's captain provided much information about what we were seeing and was very friendly. The water was very clear, and the water was smooth. They made sure that everybody saw the shipwrecks. The people on the top deck would rotate with people on the bottom deck where the viewing wells were.

We went on the 12 noon tour and enjoyed a wonderful afternoon! We watched the weather forecast and picked a nice day. Saw 2 shipwrecks clearly and great commentary from the crew. Highly recommend!

Great place to visit while in Alpena. We got to see 4 shipwrecks while on the tour. Great staff on board, very friendly. The museum is nice and they have a great little gift shop. The National Maritime Heritage Trail has great informational signs about many of the shipwrecks in Thunder Bay.
