Very informative small museum
Aug 2016 • Couples
This is a small place but has good displays of indigenous textiles. There is a woman weaving on site. The local guide speaks a bit of English. There is an interesting video of a festival in Tarabuco.

Thorough but compact

Concise exhibit of weavings and more from various Bolivian indigenous groups. Handwoven items for sale. Free tea and courtyard. The gift shop could not get any credit cards to process the day we visited.

Informative and colourful

The museum is located near la Recoleta, a short walk up from the center.
It is definitely worth to go there as the museum is very nicely set up. They offer you tea/coffee and they have booklets with translation in english/french and other languages of the informative panels. The piece of textile exposed are wonderful and impressive by the details and color changes. You also have explanation about different communities living in the region and their musical culture.
Our only comment would be that the information are a bit too long (there is a lot of text to read!!) so it is great if you are really interested in knowing everything about Bolivian indigenous art but it can be a bit overwhelming.

We really appreciate this museum.

Extra tip: If you want to enjoy a nice of the city, just walk into the hotel across the road and go to their outdoor terrasse (there is a sign saying that you can do it). The view is breathtaking (mainly because of the altitude and the steep climb :) )

Take your time
Jan 2015 • Friends
It' quite a hike to get to this museum but worth it. You can also take a cab! If you take your time to read all the descriptions of the pieces you will get so much out of the visit. If not, you'll leave wondering why you walked up there. The museum had pieces if textiles woven by different tribes around sucre. There is a store to purchase books and items made by the different groups the organizations works with. Entrance is 20 or 22 bob.

Ok but a little boring
It is a tiny museum lovely arranged but the art focuses just on textiles and a few instruments ... the mirador next to the museum is quite nice!

A Bit of a Climb
Dec 2014 • Couples
It's a bit of a climb from the city center to find this small museum, but it is well laid out and English options are available as everything is presented in Spanish. Staff is friendly and the gift shop is nice.

Informative tour & beautiful artefacts

I was given a booklet with every letter of the museum translated into English... it looks like a lot but it's well marked and you can choose which parts to read. Very detailed history and cultural information, lots of nice woven fabrics on display. Definitely worth the entrance fee, you also get tea!

Well hidden
We walked from the centre of Sucre to the Plaza Recoleta which is up hill all the way with an especially steep final climb. The museum is hidden at thee end of the mirador colonnade past some textile stalls. The lighting could be better and to my disappointment NO Photography. English speaking guides are available.
