Pretty good

My husband and I enjoy military history so going to the museum in Sucre was a no-brainer. It's a small collection but housed in a few large rooms. The cannons and artillery outside was really cool to look at. The Worlds Longest Letter, in the Naval room was pretty neat.

Everything is in Spanish but fairly easy to understand.

I don't like guns and stuff, but this museum takes a look into the past and the armaments they used. Also follows the course of the navy.

One could quickly grow endured to the number of public and private buidlings that have large patio areas with columns. if you happen to go to this museum, do not try to go into the tunnel. It's dark and doesn't go anywhere. The picture display of Bolivian wars is interesting for history buffs, as is the passport picture of Che Guevara when he went through immigrations into Bolivia (balk on the top, greyed out hair and thick black spectacles). Just en example of the surprises you can find in this museum.

Interesting but not captivating

Interesting museum with a variety of information and exhibits. Well worth a wonder round for only 10 bolivianos. Unfortunately information is hard to understand as all is in Spanish. Interesting to see the progression on the Bolivian military.

Martial History of Bolivia from the beginning to present
In a novel touch a soldier escorts you round the museum and gives an explanation on all of the exhibits, but it's in Spanish and my fault for not understanding more.

Ok there are loads of weapons that the Bolivian army, navy and Air Force have used. A lot of historical pieces and the guide is quite knowledgeable.

The best bit for me though was when he let me walk thru the History room which explained history of major actions that led to Bolivia being defined as the size it is. Conflicts from Spanish establishing rule to War of independence and role of Bolivar and Sucre. Then onto the 3 large land loss campaigns - pacific war where they lost access to the Pacific, Chaca campaign where more land lost, and some ill fated naval expeditions against Brazil in the amazon where they lost some more territory. There was also quite a few panels on the hunt for the West's favourite revolutionary Che Guevara.

All in Spanish - lots of pics though and you get the gist - never back Bolivia in a war - they will probably lose.

All in all a good use of say 90 mins close to the market and main square. Would have got 5 stars for some English translations.
