If this is on your walk, and it happens to be open (random times?) it’s worth stopping in. It’s free to enter, and photos were ok at the time of my visit. The areas within the castle that one can visit are very limited. The real attraction is the artwork inside, and the video playing that gives more historical information. I’m sure the art rotates throughout the year, but it was fantastic work during my visit.

There were quite a few wealthy people living in Vina del Mar at the beginning of the 20th century. Gustavo Wulff was a very successful trador both in saltpeter and coal. He migrated to Chile in 1881 and made his fortune. He was from Germany and he wanted his own castle. He hired an architect to do so. It went through several additions even including a bridge between towers. When Herr Wulff died, his daughter made some additional changes after World War II. She used the same architect to do so.
The government eventually acquired the property and in 1995, it was pronounced a National Historical Monument by Chilean Law.
There is a small museum there now which probably is not worth your time. This is a very nice photo opportunity though!

Wulff Castle looks unique in Valparaíso. It is an early 20th-century mansion built by a German trader. It offers cultural exhibits & ocean views. Certainly worth visiting.

Wulff Castle is a national monument in Chile that is visited by a large number of tourists. The monument was constructed by Gustavo Adolfo Wulff. It is characterized by a circular turret and crenellated tower topped by a spire, both with lancet windows oriented to the west. The predominant material is stone. These buildings will attach the main units on two floors of a rectangular shape. Breaks with the main facade of the imposing castle, presenting the appearance of a medieval English house. The Wulff Castle is open to visitors everyday except on Mondays

This is a free entry which is worth the visit to see the old building. They had a doll display inside which wasn't my thing but just touring through was interesting. It only takes about ten minutes but my highlight was climbing up the tower/hill in the court yard and looking down into the sea. Free and old..OK

This is an interesting house to visit but for me the exterior was more interesting. The birds swooping around the building and landing and taking off from the nearby rocks was beautiful.

Well worth the walk. Fascinating history. Free admittance. Beautiful ceramics . Amazing rooms fascinating glass floor so you can view the crashing waves.
Outside watch the Pelicans on the Rock and listen as the sea crashes into a low hole.
Great views of vina if you climb steps. Pretty little garden

This castle built 1906 is a historic German castle of the Wulff family which is now headquarters for the city heritage center. It is very cool for pictures and the section of coastline surrounding it is very pretty as well. It was closed when we were there so I don't know what was inside but I enjoyed just taking in the view. It really looks like a castle with turrets.

You can see the castle from Vina. It is worth the walk over. The staff was nice and let us into a closed space. They had a glass floor looking down to the rocks and water below. Also had nice viewing spots outside.

Try it! You can take nice photos from outside but walking inside and imagine Mr. Wulff living there for almost 4 decades, a single man, with pool tables for spend time with his friends or seeing sea from the tower, a visionary man that chose Viña del Mar like a gateway.
