There is a long boardwalk with beaches and workout areas throughout. very well maintained.
the ocean is very cold and rough.
they actually have signs warning not to swim. I did. if you're a good swimmer you can do it, but it is cold.
Many little restaurants along the boardwalk and tons of vendors.

The homeless-style encampment at the southern end of Playa Blanca seems to attract stray dogs, one of which attacked and bite me badly (it was unprovoked) while walking nearby before dawn. The playa is beautiful and generally well maintained, but the area near the construction and tented ‘residents’ at the southern end seems a draw to the abundant stray dogs.

This is a beautiful beach with lovely white sand, a walkway perfect for strolling, and some food vendors along the way. There’s no swimming allowed, I presume because of the tides. Some of the people in our party got soaked by unexpected waves when they walked down to try and touch the water.

This was a nice stroll with a beautiful beach. There were fountains and gardens all along the way. There are no shops along the road, I am not sure if I liked this or didn't like this as each option had a perk.

A must visit beach. Although there is no swimming allowed, people flock to this beach for so many reasons - wide sandy beach so lots of room to throw your blanket and unbrella. connects to many other beaches making for a nice, long walk, lots of activity.

Greta place to jog or walk. Some food vendors and the churros are great too! I would recommend going at sunset.

Well this beach at first glance is simply beautiful, but sadly as you get up close, you see so much litter buried in the sand. Dogs are running loose too so be prepared to step bare-foot in poop (I watched 2 dogs going). Also, the massive amounts of strays on and around the beaches are something to be aware of. The dogs troll for food here. The beach is packed in the summer with the peak capacity at about 4pm. There are tons of people here having a great time and this is what makes it so wonderful. The kids, and some crazy adults, are jumping in the huge waves in the freezing water and having a blast. There are countless sellers strolling, selling food and drink, but be aware that gringos get up-charged. I speak spanish and was able to say no to the extra cost of the Coke LIght. You can rent an umbrella easily and cheaply, so don't buy one for the day. The ones they sell are of poorer quality. There is also a market that you can shop at when you've had enough sun, which boarders the beach-walk. Thefts are known on the beach, though I didn't have a problem, so don't bring valuables and don't leave your spot unattended. January is summer so I had a wonderful day relaxing and sunning. I walked on the beach at night quite a bit too and it's really calm and serene. Water is amazingly clean.

My wife enjoyed walking along this beach on Christmas Day! Even with the holiday, there were plenty of refreshments available. Everyone was very friendly!
