Always wanted to visit Easter Island! Didn’t quite get there yet but was very thrilled to see a genuine Moai statue! I even have a replica of one in front of my house. Now I am going to plan a trip to visit Easter Island soon.

The giant Moai is in front of the Fonck Museum. It has a more officla title which is the Museo de Arqueología e Historia Francisco Fonck. So who is Mr. Fonck? He was a Prussian anthropologist who was quite a collector. He lived between 1830 and 1912. The first thing you see from the outside is the giant Moai which you might recognize from Easter Island. Inside, the Fonck has an excellent exhibit on the history of Chile that is infused with plenty of art by the indigenous people of South America including the Rapa Nui from Easter Island. This Moai statue in front of the Fonck Museum in Viña Del Mar is an original one and gifted by the people of Rapa Nui(Easter Island). Certainly worth a photo stop when in Viña Del Mar.

We saw and examined the Moai - Easter Island "Head" Statue which is located outside the frront entrance to the Fonck Museum in Vina Del Mar, Chile. The Moai was impressive and spellbinding - but only a first taste of the other exhibits inside the museum.
