We decided to do the morning desert safari, so that we were not away from our all inclusive hotel for too long. This was perfect. We had breakfast before our punctual collection from hotel lobby by Thanzeer. The Toyota land cruiser he picked us up in was spotless. We were very lucky that we had whole car to ourselves, as we booked a shared car- so there could have been another 3 people in with us. We were 3. My husband and I and our 11 year old son. Thanzeer was like a local tour guide on the way to the desert, pointing out all the local attractions, how to get there, and what to see. He also told us about some of Abu Dhabi history and political set up. About 45 minutes later we arrived at first meeting point. Tyres were deflated, and off we went. My sons first words - this is better than any rollercoaster! And it was. Thanzeer was a very experienced driver, and knew exactly what he was doing. Due to it being a little foggy we went in convoy with other cars, and apparently they were driving a bit slower because of poor visibility. I think we were glad of the fog 😄. The whole dune bashing was better than anything we could have imagined we had a couple of stops in the deep desert for photo opportunities. Thanzeer must have been a photographer in a previous life, as the pictures he took of us on our own phones were brilliant. Better than any I have paid lots of money for on other holidays. After about an hour we went to camp base. Very large , clean and well presented camp base. I would imagine at the night time safaris this place would be wonderful. We attempted the sand boarding, then we got into Arabian dress again for some wonderful photos, and then we did the short camel ride- all included. There was quad biking for an extra 50 aed’s . We then had another educational trip back to our hotel with lots more tips from Thanzeer. We were back around midday. All in all a fantastic morning. I would highly recommend !

'Evening Desert Safari with BBQ Dinner, Belly Dance, Tanura & Fire Dance, Camel Ride' was the title that attracted my attention on the Viator website - hesitating for ages I booked this in the end (read too many reviews comparing dune bashing to roller coasters which I don't fancy). OMG that was the best thing I did - the tour was beyond unbelievable - people please don't believe those who say roller coaster! It is true it involves fast driving to catch the right side of the dunes however it's great fun and honestly nothing to be afraid of. Our guide (Mario he said he was called) was extremely friendly, funny and I'm sure he went as far as he could with his hospitality and welcomeness. I visited Abu Dhabi with my mum and this tour was everything we wanted to see in UAE - from just loads of warm sand to the local people and their stories, the camp was great (Arabic coffee was actually just a Nescafe :D ), the food delicious, in the car we listened to Arabic music, it was a truly wonderful experience from the hotel pick up to the very end. Loved it.

Overall experience was groovy! Belly dancing, arabic food, nice people in shimmery lights in mid of the desert. Had a gilt-edged evening together with Aneesh (Extreme Tourism) and prodigious sand dunes. Would love to be here again. Must try...

This is one of the many desert safari’s offered in Dubai. We had another company scheduled that did not show up, so this was last minute. Extremely expensive and they do not stop at a desert camp, which is one of the cool things I did six years ago. They offer sand boarding but no camel rides. The guide was super nice and went out of his way to get us a short camel ride in a place by the highway. I believe that better and cheaper options in Dubai.
