Years ago, before the skyscrapers, before the 12-lane highway, there was only Jumeirah. In fact, when the UAE was formed, its rulers signed the agreement in Union House, at the very start of Jumeirah Beach Road. Often called “The Beverly Hills” of Dubai, a drive down Beach Road reveals one enormous, lavish villa after another. Originally residential-only neighborhoods, they are now also home to an array of cafes, smart boutiques, and art galleries. Home to one of Dubai’s few public beaches, this recently renovated area includes a new boardwalk, running and walking track, with changing facilities and cafes along the way. Another landmark, Jumeirah Mosque, is the only mosque in Dubai that can be entered by non-Muslims. As part of the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding, the mosque hosts regular tours and talks about Islam, as part of an “Open Doors, Open Minds” program. A wonderful way to understand more about the UAE and Islam.

So, lets set the scene. This was my first trip to Dubai and I may have freaked myself out a bit after reading all the reviews on how strict the area is regarding public intoxication and all the warnings I've read about being mindful and respectful of the Muslim culture. Needless to say, I was very nervous about going out to have a nightlife. I did not want my outfit to offend anyone but I was also NOT willing to dress like a shrewd. I arrived at A Club and immediately the nervousness melted away. They played afrobeats, RB, rap, reggae, dancehall... I mean, it's as if I was still in the hottest NYC club. My dress was short and tight and the drinks kept flowing. I shared with one of the staffers that I dis not want to get wasted because I was scared of being locked away abroad and they just laughed. Long story short, the DJ was awesome, the drinks were great (pricey, but hey, I didn't have to pay for them after a while), they have free admission and complimentary champagne for ladies night and the décor is caliente. I'm talking Audrey Hepburn and Rihanna just giving you slayage with the décor. (sorry for any typos, review conducted on my cell)

Me and my girls had an amazing night at this club. Nice music. Relaxing and fun environment. Nice people. Everybody's out to have a good time at A Club. Good, very good service!! I was here for my birthday last year and we had a much better time than we expected! We arrived earlier than the usual guests and managed to secure a table even though we hadn't booked ahead - the manager knew it was my birthday and gave me their spare one. The music was just spot on and the DJ knew how to get the crowd going, they played a birthday song for me as well :) The staff were great and really made me feel special when they brought our bottles and drinks. Had a fab night!
