The entire tour is a unique experience. It took about 1.5hrs (with a short stopover) to get to the dessert from our hotel. We went in January which is winter season in Dubai and very chilly. It is necessary to take a thick jacket to stay warm. We were taken to a part of the dessert where people were allowed to drive a quad bike. It’s about 150 AED which is quite pricey but worth the experience. I found it to be quite safe and exhilarating. This was in fact the highlight of the entire tour for me. There are people who will take your picture while on the bike. You have the option of purchasing the photo in a frame which is about 50 AED. The dessert camp itself is quite nice. They have a VIP section as well which has tents. We opted for the normal seating arrangement. Because it had rained some of the cushions were damp. The entertainment was ok. I didn’t find it all that interesting but the surrounding was good. The bathrooms are clean as well. The food was good. It was a combination of Arabic and Indian food and was a good variety. They have drinks and alcohol as well along with other activities such as mehendi and shisha. There is a camel ride available which is free. We opted out of it out of pity for the camels. There is sand boarding as well which is fun. I wouldn’t recommend the dessert safari it self for anyone with severe back problems or neck problems as they go quite fast up and down the sand dunes.

We enjoyed the Desert Safari tour. There were 4 of us with a driver in a Landcruiser, all part of a caravan of 20-30 vehicles that went charging through the desert. While I would have preferred to drive myself it was fun to navigate through and over the sand dunes. We ended up at a camp where food was provided along with a good falcon show, opportunity to ride a camel, sand surfing, and traditional dances. It was all fun!

We were picked up at our hotel promptly and boarded the 4x4 vehicle driven by the pleasant, polite and hospitable Kashife . Our first stop was the quad biking area where we had great fun whilst smoothly and politely given instructions by our tour guide and driver, Mr Kashife. We were then taken to the sand dunes, skilfully and safely driven and bashed the sand dunes as anticipated . This was followed by our final stop to camel ride dinner and a show. Absolutely enjoyable. Highly recommended. Well done Kashife. Brilliant 👍

You all will be surprised by terrible rating but its true no fun no adventures in paradise of desert safari. Why I write this is childish because before this I had done twice desert safari in Jesailmer, India and in Australia. If you have already done in above two your expectations will be higher in paradise of safari in Dubai. But what we experience 4*4 vehicles follow by each other and just to create adventure they bushing their steering but there is no sand dune up and down, even there is no such dune we found. 20 minutes bushing rest for photo and proceed for evening cultural program. Here you are offer free Hina tattoo, camel ride of course twenty five step ride hahaha, one can try there traditional attire. Arebian cultural program start with two different shows following by a man playing with the fire at least bearable followed by dinner. Here definitely missing original Arebian calbalean or caber at dance. For me it's childish and waste of time and money.

Really underwhelmed by this tour, unless you like be crammed into a 4x4 and made to feel really sick, then avoid this tour. You are not forced to wear seat belts, they make no considerations to your height are are happy to let a 10yr old sit in the front whilst I being 6ft am asked to sit in the back with no leg room, sand surfing should have been included but never happened, the deserts are fully of rubbish, the camel ride is for about 1 minute, which is just long enough to get a picture to sell you later, the food was poor, the belly dancer was more interested in the size of her chest that actually belly dancing. The fire eater was good as was the other dancer. The guide spoke very little English so hard to understand what you were supposed to be doing. Then you are driven back to the hotel by the 4x4 rally driver who is happy driving at 145kmh about 3ft from the car in front..

We booked via Alpha Tours and it was with Red Sands Tours.

The trip company (Luxury Tours) [sic] was contacted as per the Groupon booking confirmation. I was told to meet at the Mall of the Emirates, some two or three miles from my hotel. Alternatively,I could pay the pick-up driver 100 AED (about £22) Because of the distances, we agreed to pay for the pick-up. After our pick up, however, we drove to the next hotel (Hilton) to pick up three further passengers. I wasn't given the option to walk less than 0.5 km to that pick up point rather than be extorted for 100 AED for a journey I needn't have made.
All in all, our driver was first class, and very informative.
Brits on a trip out together do actually speak to each other and we all felt really let down by the over-marketed claims made in the groupon advert:

- Free-flowing water and soft drinks... Was this a play on words where the water was, indeed free but the soft drinks not?

- Camel ride? 62 steps (I counted them) in a circle does NOT constitute a camel ride.

- Sand boarding - did not happen.

The quad-biking place we were taken to somewhere in the red-sanded desert just looked particularly unsafe. Hundreds of quads free to go in any direction they liked looked nothing short of dangerous. None of the seven people on the trip took part yet we all had to stay there for the full 25 minutes while locals came peddling their cheap tat and called them mementos.
I would not recommend the 4x4 desert safari.

I must say I had a blast. We purchased separate tickets for the ATV. Then we went in the dunes. Hang on because you are in for the ride of your life. We took lots of pics, sand boarding was fun. The camel ride is like a once in a life time opportunity. The show in the end was also entertaining. What more can I say but that it was a well spent day.

We took this trip on our short stay to Dubai and it was definitely worth the trip! We saw a very different side to Dubai than the thriving luxurious city, by doing the 4x4 Dune Bashing, camel riding and BBQ sunset dinner.

The dune bashing was a great experience, lots of screams from our car though! The camel riding was a short circle round, but it was probably enough for us in the heat! We then had a BBQ dinner with a bottle of sparkling wine at sunset, followed by entertainment of a belly dance and a fire breathing act.

It was quite a lot of time spent in the car travelling between dunes, where the camels were and then the camp for dinner, but overall a brilliant day out.

Tip - I would take a scarf and/or sunglasses to shield from any sand blowing in the wind!
