Non Existent Customer Service
Mar 2023
A balanced and mixed review to this, as whilst there were good elements to the experience, the overall experience is just tainted so much by their complete lack of customer service and professional structure. This really does feel like someone's hobby rather than a professional cooking studio. Prior to taking the class, it took multiple attempts to get any response at all from anyone at Top Chef. They do not reply to customer emails, do not man their landline number and do not return calls to mobile numbers of management. Their booking system and schedule seems very ad-hoc, and they only list classes a week or so before. When I finally did get through to one of the managers, she was very rude and short with her information - not a professional attitude or customer service that you would expect. If you want to book, then just keep searching their website for when they decide to list the classes. As for the class itself, the facilities are really nice, and the 2 chefs on the day were helpful and knowledgeable. The quality of the ingredients were very good, and since there were only 3 people in the class, you were able to get a more 1-1 feeling. You effectively cook all 3 courses at once and then plate each course as you go - eating the courses as you go. This is where unfortunately the staff let themselves down again, as it was very clear that they wanted to just go home, and so really rush you through each course. None of those in the class had finished our starters before we were rushed in the plate the main course. This was the same when it came to the desert, when most of us were only 3/4 way through a steak before the chef wanted us to rush in to plate the desert - a very rushed experience that just left you with indigestion! At the end of the meal, both chefs just seem to disappear quickly before any of us had left the studio. In fact the lights had been turned off in the kitchen, with the head chef gone. The other member of staff rushed in as we were all leaving - a very odd experience, as they obviously just wanted to get home. When leaving, we were promised that the recipes would be emailed to each of us within 48hrs, as naturally we all wanted to practice what we had learnt at home. Over a week later...this has still not happened. Multiple phone calls, emails, and website messages have proven not to work, and so you can forget about any post course customer service there too. Overall, whilst the concept is good, and the facilities are well put together, the complete lack of professionalism and customer service means I will certainly not be returning, and will instead be looking for a better structured and more professional company in the future.

The area
Neighborhood: Jumeirah
Years ago, before the skyscrapers, before the 12-lane highway, there was only Jumeirah. In fact, when the UAE was formed, its rulers signed the agreement in Union House, at the very start of Jumeirah Beach Road. Often called “The Beverly Hills” of Dubai, a drive down Beach Road reveals one enormous, lavish villa after another. Originally residential-only neighborhoods, they are now also home to an array of cafes, smart boutiques, and art galleries. Home to one of Dubai’s few public beaches, this recently renovated area includes a new boardwalk, running and walking track, with changing facilities and cafes along the way. Another landmark, Jumeirah Mosque, is the only mosque in Dubai that can be entered by non-Muslims. As part of the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding, the mosque hosts regular tours and talks about Islam, as part of an “Open Doors, Open Minds” program. A wonderful way to understand more about the UAE and Islam.

I’m really appalled with your customer service. I asked today if the voucher I bought (Feb 2020) for my husband as a present, could be extended until end of this month. As he was not able to utilize it last month (Dec 16) due to various health complications , I even mentioned that I’m willing to pay a penalty. However, I received a call informing me that your company can’t consider my request as you have to do it for the rest of your clients. I think this is unacceptable. With hospitality industry going above and beyond for their customers at this time of hardship for all, you are inflexible. I’m sorry but I will surely not buying any voucher or classes in the future and I will definitely not recommend you to any of my friends. I also want to respectfully remind you of the Year of Tolerance which this country championed during this time of the pandemic.

Just when you think Dubai got the customer service right, you get a rude and unfriendly response from Top Chef staff...a real shame to talk and treat people like that!

My wife and I found a "Buy One, Get One Free" coupon in the Entertainer and Top Chef was so generous to let us use it on whichever class we wanted instead of the indicated class on the coupon. My wife loves to bake and make desserts so when we saw Pastry Follies on the schedule, we knew we had to do it. We were not disappointed and had an absolutely flawless time. The kitchen was impeccable and the ingredients were all top notch. We both could not have had a more fun time at Top Chef Dubai, or more delicious desserts at the end. I cannot recommend these classes enough, and only wish we lived in Dubai so we could go back!

On a recent trip to Dubai to visit friends, we signed up for a evening of cooking with chef Adrian. We prepared a starter, main and desert. Excellent meal and so much fun! Top notch cooking class, lots of fun, food was five star. Will definitely return on my next trip to Dubai.

Went for a business team building - it was OK - we were split into 2 groups- the chef shows you what to peel, chop and off you go. Once completed they put most of it into the oven. It was a 3 course which you eventually put on your plate ... and eat. If there are too many of you - you end end literally have too many cooks in the kitchen. Its a good laugh with the teams but the food was OK

Did not want to do the typical tourist stuff in Dubai, and jumped at the chance to cook with Chef Thibaut a simple, yet very elegant meal in a funky, impeccably clean environment. Both Chef and his assistants were professional and personable during the visit, and I look forward to taking another class when possible.

We were initially a bit skeptical to cook our own food? Would it taste good? Would it take forever. But when we met w Chef Adrian the perception changed and we knew instantly we would be in good hands. We progressed fast and his instructions wouldnt have been clearer. When we finished we were proud of what we have done in quite short time. Starter was pea soup and shrimp. Main dish were salmon and buttered cabbage. Dessert was signature ie caramel popcorn with merengue and choco mousse! Top chef class and we made it!

Cookery classes in a stylish setting in a villa on the Beach road. We went as a family, myself, my husband and my teens (15 and 18), and were joined by 2 other participants. We were welcomed by chef Adrian, given aprons, and all set to different tasks. We proceeded to cook a 3 course meal. there was a lot of chopping, whisking, slicing and most importantly, a lot of laughter. The end result was absolutely delicious, we were served on a big dining table and offered exotic juices to complement the meal. It was one of the best and most fun activity we had as a family that year!! and best of all, there was no washing up...
