    Metro Journey Through The Palm
I have always been fascinated with Atlantis in its original and first location in Nassau, Bahamas, from the time I have read about that in a novel, a Jeffery Archer one if I remember correctly. For over two decades, Atlantis has been exuding Bahamian culture, serving as an architectural marvel and custodian of marine life, and its landmark pink architecture that defines luxury, hospitality, and entertainment in the Caribbean and around the world. The closest we can get, for now, is the Atlants's second location in the uber luxurious Dubai, located in the farthest edge of The Palm, which in itself in an icon. No, we weren't staying in the Atlantis, but I wish in the future. We did manage to take a little detour from our Dubai City Tour to take the scenic route in the metro line that travels from one end of The Palm to the other end where the Atlantis is located. The journey through the central frond of The Palm, itself is magical, with about a few stops and a view of the buzzling mini city with private beaches and signature homes. The last stop is where I got a glimpse of the most anticipated view of Atlantis, it was nothing less than magical. I just couldn't stop wondering how beautiful the pink architecture looks, very much at ease in Dubai's cultural landscape in the middle of the sea. Now my trip back to Dubai is reconfirmed with this beautiful space where I would want to stay at least for a day [and afford it] and enjoy the access to the Aquaventure Dubai and the Lost Chambers aquarium.

    Amazing but surprisingly poorly connected
We stayed on the Palm during a recent visit and it is an absolute engineering marvel - a fantastic destination which is worth a visit to understand the sheer scale of things (best appreciated by an aerial view) We were surprised however at how poorly connected it is via public transport. From where we were staying on the Palm, the public transport option involved a not inconsiderable walk to the monorail, which connects with a tram, which then connects with the main metro line. It really was a faff and so we chose either to get a taxi straight to downtown or take a taxi to the nearest metro station which wasn't particularly close. We ended up spending a fortune on taxis because of this - given how good the general infrastructure is in Dubai we were surprised at just how isolated one of its main attractions, was.

We were keen to visit to check out the restaurants at the hotel before booking and to get an idea of the ambience.
What a disaster. Despite the website shouting about how many things there are to do on a day trip to The Atlantis, the security guards were absolutely set on restricting access to visitors.
So you can’t rock up to see what it’s like before you part with your hard- earned cash. And you’re very much made to feel like second class citizens.
We ended up reluctantly booking to dine at Heston’s latest restaurant- at The Atlantis Royal. And very nearly left as the place is so unwelcoming if you’re not a hotel guest. But eventually we chose to go as there was a really good deal on.
PLeased we did as the restaurant was actually spot on.
But don’t come to The Atlantis unless you are pre booked. As they’re not the friendliest.

The Palm Jumeirah is a prime example of an man made marvel. Probably the world's biggest artificially created island which houses some of the most expensive & lavish residences with private beaches. The famous Palm Atlantis hotel is also located on the Palm Jumeirah & provides a panoramic view of the sea. One should take a ride on the Palm Jumeirah monorail to enjoy the view.

All good and beautiful from afar.
Whilst you are at the Palm, it's just another set of streets, villas and shops. You can drive in or use the monorail. I would recommend the monorail for the only redeemable sight seeing opportunity. Way too overcrowded on public holidays. Again, nothing fancy apart from the fact of just setting your foot on a man made island.

Palm Jumeirah is the grandest of the grand projects in Dubai. It's the largest man made island in the world, and it can be seen from outer space. It took 6 years and 12 billion US dollars to build. It has a monorail running up its spine which ends at the impressive Atlantis Hotel. And, it's not the only man-made island in Dubai. There are several others in various stages of construction. If you want to see it from above, go visit the “View at the Palm”, a 240 meter high viewpoint of the entire island, located on the 52nd floor of the Palm Tower Hotel.
It's definitely a must-see attraction while in Dubai.

Took a bus tour to get out and about. This man made island is very impressive. Quite busy and seems just about complete with not a lot of vacant real estate. Some of the architecture is rather stunning as well. Well worth the visit.

The views are amazing, beautiful buildings. Not too far from the Marina, definitely worth a visit. About half hour's drive to the Dubai Mall, if you want to travel on the Shuttle please make sure you have the times for leaving and returning.

We took the monorail to the Palm Jumeirah. We couldn't enter Atlantis Hotel because of Covid-19, but walked outside and also around the attractions. The hotel grounds looked huge and beautiful from the outside. Good view of the hotel from the monorail and the seaside. The attractions looked interesting, but unfortunately they were closed. The monorail gives you a good aerial view of the whole peninsula.

I first visited Dubai in 1985 and was very much impressed and have seen it gradually develop into one of the all time favourite cities in the world.Started in June 2001 on a length of 5 kms, The tree-shaped Palm Jumeirah island is known for glitzy hotels, posh apartment towers and upmarket global restaurants. Food trucks offering snacks like shawarma dot the Palm Jumeirah Boardwalk, popular for its views of the Dubai coastline and the sail-shaped Burj Al Arab hotel. Beach clubs with spas and infinity pools turn into boisterous nightclubs with live DJs in the evening.Dubai never stops fascinating me !!
