I had a good time but wouldn’t recommend it for children as the bumps and driving is a bit fast. A few people got bit unwell.

Trainers or filled in canvas shoes will be good. Definitely not flip flops or open sandals as the sand will get in and annoy you. You could take a light jacket as it’s easy to carry and you might need it.

Desert dining experience (6 Replies)
Hello! I will be in Dubai for 6 days and I'm wondering if there's an excursion to the desert without the dune bashing. I would like to have an Arabian dining experience in this setting...food and some kind of entertainment/show or even falconry. Dune Bashing is not for me. Maybe a restaurant offering the same theme may exist in Dubai. I hope someone out there could give me some info. Thanks!

Platinum Heritage do a non dune bashing option - very high end. If you book with a normal company its something that they might be able to arrange but it does depend on other guests as to how they organise this. You could hire an exclusive car and just have a gentle dune drive (its worth doing and taking it easy) to the organised camp or, if you wanted to, organise a driver to take you into the dunes and have your own BBQ. Its not that expensive. The other option is Al Hadheerah at Bab...More

Desert options? (12 Replies)
I have spent the last couple of days researching the best way for us to see some of the region surrounding the city. Yet I still havent got a clue what to do! I suffer with severe travel sickness, of which there is no cure, I really have tried every treatment. I therefore have to plan our sightseeing accordingly. Dune bashing is therefore out sadly. I am aware that some companies do dinner in the desert without the dunebashing, but it starts at 7pm so I presume its dark, so we wont be able...More

Thanks for the info re the desert. Are there any other tours to other cities etc which would be ok for me? We would like to get out and about a lot if we can. The tour along the coast sounds lovely but like I said it also mentions mountains.
