What an incredible experience being immersed in true Arabic culture, in the middle of the desert.
We began by purchasing beautiful head scarves, fitted by gentlemen before continuing to rally around the desert on quad bikes. What a feeling!!! The smiles on everyone’s faces were priceless as they past at their own speed.
Dune bashing was just around the corner where we were able to fully view the desert from the largest sand dunes. Again, it was thrilling and truly breathtaking as we stopped to take pictures in the sunset. We were then able to sand board down the sand dunes which was so, so fun! How many people can say they have gone sand boarding in the desert?
A short trip brought us to the Al Khayma camp, which was absolutely fantastic. The camp itself was lit with the most beautiful lights. Before entering the camp, we were able to take a short camel ride. Another brilliant experience. The camels were so calm and gentle. Another photo opportunity. On entering the camp, coffee and may I say the best doughnuts were on offer. Three different shows were displayed, each unique. An Arabic dancer, fire display and belly dancer. Professional performers ready to put on a show. There were intervals between shows allowing you to feast on the BBQ, have a henna created, hold a falcon or relax with a shisha. The night was spectacular and left us speechless.
Afterwards, there was no trouble or queues (we all hate queues) getting to our transport home.
From start to finish, Ibrahim (our tour guide) was funny, helpful and informative ensuring our safety and satisfaction at all times. He made our tour that much more comfortable and better. Bottles of water are dispensed often to ensure hydration. The dune bashing was so much fun and Ibrahim would ensure we were comfortable and felt safe the whole journey. Ibrahim, stated we only participate in an activity if we wish to do so. If not, it was not a problem and we could wait with him. Also, may I say.. what a photographer!!! The photos are one of a kind.
