About
Emirates Golf Club, host of the European Tour Omega Dubai Desert Classic and Omega Dubai Ladies Masters, was the first all grass championship golf course in the Middle East when it opened in 1988. Taking pride in its 36 holes of world-class golf, the club sports two of the city’s finest must-play courses, the Majlis and the Faldo Course, which is also the only 18 hole course in the region to offer night golf. Both courses combine the natural rolling desert terrain for a serious golfing test, while the signature clubhouse, remains the most eye-catching in the region. The Majlis Course has been presented with numerous accolades over its 25 year history, the most recent of which were its 2012 ranking by Golf World magazine as one of the ‘Top 100 Golf Courses in the World’ and its award for ‘Best Course Middle East’ in the Asian Golf Monthly Awards 2010 .

Really looking forward to a great few holes of night golf on the Faldo but the experience left us thoroughly deflated.
The tee boxes are decent enough, the fairways also. The lighting does cause issues with seeing where the ball goes. On more than one occasion we completely lost the ball in the lights and never found it. Frustrating for sure but the worst was the state of the the greens however. They look like they have been hit by mortars. Numerous pitch marks that are not repaired and and makes for very undulating play. With a club charging as much as they can for rounds, this is totally unacceptable.
The club facilities look decent enough but having a course in such a poor state of play means it's unlikely we'll be back for the foreseeable future.
What is strange is that we played only a week after the European tour played here. How did the course get in such bad shape so quickly?
A real shame.....

Myself and my partner played night golf and it was a great experience but we were shocked at how poor the customer service was. The staff were rude from the moment we arrived and no one seemed to want to help or direct us.

To hire clubs my partner had to hand in a form of ID- he gave his driving licence (which was literally then thrown on a desk in front of us). Upon finishing our round the reception staff had gone home and the security staff did not have my partner’s driving licence - we spent almost an hour trying to locate it with them before having to give up (by which point we’d missed our dinner reservation).
The next day my partner spent the best part of the day making phone calls and eventually it was discovered the staff had given his driving licence to someone else. We eventually had it returned but that took a lot of chasing on our part (none of our phone calls were returned until later the next day) and no one seemed to comprehend how serious it was.
We had an apology but no offer of any sort of compensation - we are just relived it was a driving licence and not his passport!
Considering how much the round of golf cost it was not the level of service we were expecting

I was only able to try the par3 course. I had a look also at driving range, the club house and the pro shop. To be honest I was expecting much more from this course. After all is ne of the most famous in the area. The course is well kept, although the construction site nearby was not nice to see. One thing I was not expecting is the fee for the driving range: in other top golf courses, once you pay the green fee, then you get free access and free balls for the driving range. While playing, the noise of the the nearby highway was pretty annoying (but maybe it is just me who does not like that’s kind of “artificial” noise while playing golf). Last but not least, I went to the club house and proshop. The proshop is really well organized although it is in the basement. I was expecting something really amazing front the clubhouse, but it is a very simple one (again this is very personal).
Overall I would recommend it, albeit your expectation might not be met.

Thursday, Friday, Saturday are the only days where you can actually hit your clubs on the grass, the rest of the week it is on rubber. Get over after 730 am, this is usually where their canon start for the 18 hole course kicks off. During this summer heat in the UAE, I still prefer coming over at sharply six, otherwise you may end of up being in the queue, waiting for a spot to warm up at.

I planned an early morning golf session with friends for my boyfriend’s birthday and although it was pretty hot at 7 am in July, we all had the best time. We got a deal on the via app for 9 holes for AED 100 per person, we had to rent clubs separately, but it was only AED 70 per set. The views on this course are the best and make the walking around worth it as you cant hire buggies for this course, unfortunately. We will 100 % be back in the winter when the weather is cooler.

As a first trip to Dubai I had a couple of courses on my bucket list to tick off. The majlis being one. I booked through the Viya app which was easy enough. I turned up to the course 2 hours before my tee time. Had some lunch and a smoothie which was great.
I then went to the range for a while. It was off some heavily worn mats but that was ok.
Then onto the putting Green which was good as it replicated the course greens and wasn’t too busy.
At 5 minutes to my tee time I wandered up to the first tee. Some members were there waiting to tee off after me. The starter then said tee off now and catch up with a three ball that were 3/4 of the way down the fairway. All very rushed. The three ball was a husband and wife and a single lad. For the next 8 holes we played, the lady golfer who wasn’t a bad player continued to hit off the tips with us men and struggled to make the fairway. Not the courses fault but by all accounts had done that on the first tee which the starter surely should have said something.
By the 10th hole we had lost a lot of time and finishing the round in daylight was looking unlikely. To make things worse, on the turn there was a group in front of us (4 adults and one child). All hitting multiple balls and even the child was hitting. We proceeded to wait on every tee box. Once we even waited 15 minutes. The course needed better and frequent marshalling to prevent this. This ultimately meant that we played the 18th in the dark. Very disappointing.
The course was in amazing condition which was expected with the desert classic coming up.
After my round I went to the range again but the man working on the range said I wasn’t allowed any more balls as I had already played. He was rude about it too. This I find wrong as I had paid a lot of money to play the course and it did say free range balls when I booked. After the day I had had and overly long round this really left a sour taste in my mouth.
Although I will try again on my next visit as I enjoyed the iconic course, I feel that the service and running of the place wasn’t up to what is expected. Maybe need some lessons from Jumeirah golf estates who were top class in every aspect that emirates lacked in.

I was golfing today on the mijlis course at emirates the game was slightly slow due to group in front which was fine we were happy to wait. On the 10th tee the man I was golfing with went to the toilet at the half way house. The group behind rudely approached us and was very rude and aggressive stating we were holding them up and proceeded to ask if we were members, I replied no I am not a member. The member then highlighted he had been a member for 21 years and his wife was very aggressive and said ‘you are slow mate’. I was absolutely appalled at this aggressive manner from a member. After my round of golf I went into the clubhouse to speak to management as I paid a lot of money to play and this really ruined our day, the manager was not helpful he said he is aware of the members attitudes towards guests and was laughing when I was explaining what had happened. Would not recommend this course to any guests this has ruined our golf trip.

What a let down. Played the Faldo course today and was very disappointed. Greens are in poor condition with several having patchwork repairs and lots of sand spread over other areas.
Every time I tried to use the GPS on the buggy to plan an approach shot it would jump to an advert which was infuriating. I changed buggy after 5 holes and the new buggy had a big black mark on the monitor meaning you couldn’t see anything.
Also no club cleaner or ball cleaner on the buggy
I played montgomerie yesterday which was exceptional and I’d advise you to do the same.

Played both courses the Faldo first and the Majilis two days later.

The Faldo course was great. Greens did let it down slightly but overall a great day out.
The Majilis is also a great course but the greens are so poor. Its a shame and to be honest, at the present time with the state of the greens its not worth an extra 400 plus AED compared to the Faldo course. They need to sort the greens out.
The staff at the driving range, along with the staff at the Pro shop and Elite bar where fantastic.

Today 27th of Feb Was honestly the best golf experience todate
It started off arriving in the Emirates golf club to be greeted by welcoming staff at main reception
I went down stairs to book in and pay for my round on the Faldo course .On asking about my handicap details I was passed over to Tara (didn't get her surname ).
I was informed that from 7.2 in was to be given 9 shots . After a brief chat I was invited to a tour of the grounds .
This was above and beyond my expectations. The tour lasted a hour taking in the 2 courses top golf pool gym and courts .
Tara was extremely professional and very friendly . I could not have been happier with the experience.
The course was in top condition
Greens were quick undulating and fair
The marshals were extremely nice and when you were falling behind on the group ahead ready to prompt you along .
The company I had for my round were a good laugh with alot of good golf played ...highlight was lipping out for birdsong the index 1
I have to thank Tara and the staff at the Emirates Golf club for a memory I will not forget
