About
Emirates Golf Club, host of the European Tour Omega Dubai Desert Classic and Omega Dubai Ladies Masters, was the first all grass championship golf course in the Middle East when it opened in 1988. Taking pride in its 36 holes of world-class golf, the club sports two of the city’s finest must-play courses, the Majlis and the Faldo Course, which is also the only 18 hole course in the region to offer night golf. Both courses combine the natural rolling desert terrain for a serious golfing test, while the signature clubhouse, remains the most eye-catching in the region. The Majlis Course has been presented with numerous accolades over its 25 year history, the most recent of which were its 2012 ranking by Golf World magazine as one of the ‘Top 100 Golf Courses in the World’ and its award for ‘Best Course Middle East’ in the Asian Golf Monthly Awards 2010 .

I planned an early morning golf session with friends for my boyfriend’s birthday and although it was pretty hot at 7 am in July, we all had the best time. We got a deal on the via app for 9 holes for AED 100 per person, we had to rent clubs separately, but it was only AED 70 per set. The views on this course are the best and make the walking around worth it as you cant hire buggies for this course, unfortunately. We will 100 % be back in the winter when the weather is cooler.

Top Golf - range at Emirates Golf Club
Tips then blurb...
Tip 1: if you can go early in the morning, they open at 10. We took the kids and there was plenty of space and we were able to extend our session with no issues.
Tip 2: Its hot, go high to the top floor to take advantage of the breeze
Tip 3: you can extend your time, the system prompts you 15 mins before your time will expire to see what you'd like to do. You can extend by 30 mins at a time giving a decent amount of flexibility.
Tip 4: unless you are very serious about your golf you really don't need to take your own clubs and they provide kids clubs from toddler up.
Tip 5: Refreshments like water are reasonably priced, but the milkshakes are really punchy. Great but at 65AED you've got to really want a milkshake. We shared one between 2 adults and 3 kids.
Tip 6: the coffee is not good. Its from a machine that is a one touch button thing. It was not good at all.

We had a fantastic time. The staff were excellent and clearly keen to welcome new customers and the kids especially. We were briefed brilliantly and introduce to how everything works. And also given great advice about the most kid friendly game to play - the one with unlimited balls! Peace was particularly attentive and lovely engaging with the kids.

Emirates Golf Club is a great place to play golf.

We played the Faldo Course on Saturday evening at a reduced rate, thanks to Golf App.

As part of that, we were able to use the very pleasant changing rooms, practice ground, including putting green, chipping area and grass driving range. The range was a bit tired but the balls are decent quality.

There is also a buggy for each two players in a group and a reusable water bottle, with water refill stations on most tees.

The course was not at its best at the end of the weekend, with a fair few pitch marks on the greens but it is still a spectacular place to play golf, with the towers of Dubai Marina in the backdrop.

The floodlights came on at around 6pm and light the full 18 holes of the course, meaning that you can play late into the night. There is plenty of water on the course, particularly the front nine, and it is probably not a course for beginners to try and learn the game. The par three course within the complex would be better for those purposes.

There are food and drink counters on the sixth, after the 13th and 15th (same building) offering a range of snacks and drinks, including alcoholic beverages at OK prices. There are also refreshment buggies circulating on the course.

In the clubhouse is the pro shop, together with a number of food and beverage outlets. All very good quality and normally quite busy with a good atmosphere.

Really looking forward to a great few holes of night golf on the Faldo but the experience left us thoroughly deflated.
The tee boxes are decent enough, the fairways also. The lighting does cause issues with seeing where the ball goes. On more than one occasion we completely lost the ball in the lights and never found it. Frustrating for sure but the worst was the state of the the greens however. They look like they have been hit by mortars. Numerous pitch marks that are not repaired and and makes for very undulating play. With a club charging as much as they can for rounds, this is totally unacceptable.
The club facilities look decent enough but having a course in such a poor state of play means it's unlikely we'll be back for the foreseeable future.
What is strange is that we played only a week after the European tour played here. How did the course get in such bad shape so quickly?
A real shame.....

What a let down. Played the Faldo course today and was very disappointed. Greens are in poor condition with several having patchwork repairs and lots of sand spread over other areas.
Every time I tried to use the GPS on the buggy to plan an approach shot it would jump to an advert which was infuriating. I changed buggy after 5 holes and the new buggy had a big black mark on the monitor meaning you couldn’t see anything.
Also no club cleaner or ball cleaner on the buggy
I played montgomerie yesterday which was exceptional and I’d advise you to do the same.

Thursday, Friday, Saturday are the only days where you can actually hit your clubs on the grass, the rest of the week it is on rubber. Get over after 730 am, this is usually where their canon start for the 18 hole course kicks off. During this summer heat in the UAE, I still prefer coming over at sharply six, otherwise you may end of up being in the queue, waiting for a spot to warm up at.

I was only able to try the par3 course. I had a look also at driving range, the club house and the pro shop. To be honest I was expecting much more from this course. After all is ne of the most famous in the area. The course is well kept, although the construction site nearby was not nice to see. One thing I was not expecting is the fee for the driving range: in other top golf courses, once you pay the green fee, then you get free access and free balls for the driving range. While playing, the noise of the the nearby highway was pretty annoying (but maybe it is just me who does not like that’s kind of “artificial” noise while playing golf). Last but not least, I went to the club house and proshop. The proshop is really well organized although it is in the basement. I was expecting something really amazing front the clubhouse, but it is a very simple one (again this is very personal).
Overall I would recommend it, albeit your expectation might not be met.

I played the Faldo course on a recent trip to Dubai and found the clubhouse excellent and all of the staff were friendly and helpful. The practice area is very good and a bucket of balls included in the green fee which is helpful. As I am over 80 I found it difficult having to use the cart path and sometimes having to walk a fair distance to my ball. There was fresh drinking water and little cafés and toilets at regular intervals which were vey much appreciated. The course is challenging with too much water for my liking but as long as you played straight you could avoid it. A very enjoyable experience.

Played both courses the Faldo first and the Majilis two days later.

The Faldo course was great. Greens did let it down slightly but overall a great day out.
The Majilis is also a great course but the greens are so poor. Its a shame and to be honest, at the present time with the state of the greens its not worth an extra 400 plus AED compared to the Faldo course. They need to sort the greens out.
The staff at the driving range, along with the staff at the Pro shop and Elite bar where fantastic.

This is definitely one of your bucket list courses. It's hard to get your head around a pristine golf setting in the middle of the desert. Their tee boxes could be the greens in some muni courses. The one downside... the club has A LOT of members and they allow them to go out in singles. We were a foursome that had to let 3 consecutive singles play through. One of them was an aggressive golfer who hit into a greenside bunker while my wife was still in it. She was NOT happy and we let him know it at the next tee before having him play through. It's the type of experience that takes away from the fun and serenity of the sport. Why the club doesn't have these singles play together is a head scratcher.
