The area
Neighborhood: Jumeirah
Years ago, before the skyscrapers, before the 12-lane highway, there was only Jumeirah. In fact, when the UAE was formed, its rulers signed the agreement in Union House, at the very start of Jumeirah Beach Road. Often called “The Beverly Hills” of Dubai, a drive down Beach Road reveals one enormous, lavish villa after another. Originally residential-only neighborhoods, they are now also home to an array of cafes, smart boutiques, and art galleries. Home to one of Dubai’s few public beaches, this recently renovated area includes a new boardwalk, running and walking track, with changing facilities and cafes along the way. Another landmark, Jumeirah Mosque, is the only mosque in Dubai that can be entered by non-Muslims. As part of the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding, the mosque hosts regular tours and talks about Islam, as part of an “Open Doors, Open Minds” program. A wonderful way to understand more about the UAE and Islam.

I visited Saga Mall with family on 15 Feb 2020. It was made a part of the guided city tour. We were told by the guide that the Mall belonged to the Sultan's younger brother.

The salesman there was convincing us to buy a handmade carpet made out of pure 24k gold, crafted by the artisans of the royal house. He claimed that the carpets were exclusive pieces of art and that those designs wouldn't be available anywhere else in the world. He also assured us of its authenticity by saying that we would get a certificate from the UAE govt about the purity of the gold.

Later we found the same carpets in every other corner of Dubai- Dubai Mall, gold souk, Grand Mosque (Abu Dhabi) etc. There we were told that all carpets were only goldplated, the certificate story was an eyewash. Also the Mall was supposedly owned by an expat and not the Sheikh's brother.

Thus, plz research well before buying into someone's words.

I would like to warn other consumers and tourists not to purchase from this company. It is a dishonest, unprofessional and pushy business.

They will do their best at pushing you to buy items which are extremely overpriced. We have had items which we purchased through this company valued by multiple professionals with certificates and they will not refund us the difference (which is substantial) or let us return the items.

A corrupt and dishonest business, which does not genuinely care for its customers.

Don’t even spend a second to go inside. All things inside are rubbish. I have many muslim friends they are all good people, but this lying bustard who sell carpets, jewelry in Saga World - you are not a muslim. Know that Allah is looking at you, all your lies is going to return back to you.

Would not recommend this stop. Guests are escorted around different rooms to see pieces of art before the shopping area. Some interesting pieces but it was unclear what was expected from us. After seeing the tour of family treasures guests are invited to buy some artwork. But then have some time browsing shopping areas. Staff were very nice and helpful. Personally I would prefer to spend my time elsewhere.

We were recommended to visit this place from the hotel we stayed at. We went to Kite Beach in the morning which is right behind this shopping center. Before we went back to the hotel we stopped at Saga World to check it out. Right as you enter they have a shop where they sell gold carpets. We were taken into another shop with many more gold and other types of carpet options, and we ended up buying one. We checked some jewelry as well, they have a big jewelry showroom on the first floor.

Our guide took us to Saga. We spent around 1 hour there. We thought it will be more as of a museum but the shops are predominant. They sell interesting merchandise like the gold and jewel rugs. We didn’t purchase anything only looked around.
We were a bit disappointed with their toilets as we had to wait for some time in line, as it appears they had a big group which was using it at that time.

Do not go there . They hire touts for bringing in guests and then loot them .wonder how is it being allowed in Dubai. They sold the so called gold embroidered carpet for 95% overprizing .It was gold plated and was being sold in local market for just 10 Dollars for which they charged 300Dollars.
Dont go there you ll be surely robbed .

We were in Diera. Our guide told us he was taking us to an art museum a ways away. We were all excited by the prospect and, despite the long trip there (30+ minutes), thought we'd see something special. As we got off the bus, the guide told us we had 25 minutes to see the "museum." That was the first clue that something wasn't right. As we entered the building, we were not free to wander, but were shepherded into a room where we were shown gold-embroidered rugs and pillows, embellished with native stones. After some hocus pocus involving a lighter that was "drawing water out of the stones," the offers were made "especially for us" to purchase, at half-price -- even better, for less than half-price -- the pieces. I left the room in disgust. (Water is a by-product of combustion. The lighter flame left a sheen of water on the stones.) The next room sold camel-wool and silk scarves and pashminas. At $240 USD, the prices were outrageous. I got a "just for me" offer to buy at $185 USD.

It was a long ride back to our hotel in Bur Dubai. When I think of what we could have seen and done in Diera and Bur Dubai with that 1.5 hours, I get steamed. Earlier that morning we had 20 minutes in the Al Fahidi Historical district. Our wasted Saga time would have been better spent there.

Saga is one of those places that gives kickbacks to tour operators and agents if they bring their clientele there and they buy. And, get this: on our visit to Abu Dhabi, when our new guide told us we were going to an art museum, I questioned him closely on whether it was a real museum or not. He assured me that it was. However, as we exited the bus, he announced that we were at Saga. Second verse same as the first, except that the Abu Dhabi Saga was dark, smelled of mildew and had lots of junk for sale the closer you got to the exit.

Don't bother spending your time or money here.

Our tour bus driver took us here instead of the Dubai fountains where we escorted to this room for a "VIP Experience," which is basically a sales pitch for these mats/carpets that are designed with gold thread. The pieces are pretty, but the sales people were very aggressive. I walked off and went into the few shops that were open and priced some items. Friends bought the mats and said they got good deals, so it was a good stop for some.
